As someone name after Ash from the Evil Dead (it’s my mom’s all time fav franchise), I can confirm it’s an awesome name 😌 PLUS I get asked why I’m named Ash a lot and I get to say, “I’m name after Bruce Campbell’s character! Oh and my moms a badass.” There’s nothing cooler than that (to me lol) 😂

Fun facts: Sam Raimi regrets the scene with Cheryl in the woods, especially because people were upset by it. He admitted he was young and trying to push the envelope, and now it’s so apart of the legacy that it appears in other iterations.
This movie had almost nothing to work with budget wise. So the chainsaw was real, and the povs from the deadites are a camera on a plank of wood moving through the woods.
This was definitely meant to be a straight horror but because they were “broke and inexperienced” the campiness became a big part of the franchise. The 2013 is probably closer to tone of what he wanted. He also produced that one.
Sam Raimi loves beating up Bruce, he talks about it in interviews. Hence why as the movies go on, ash’s punishment is worse 😂
This movie solidified the Raimi style we all know and love. He uses all the techniques he used in this movie to this day.

My first introduction to the series was actually the 2013 version- it kind of turned me off the series until I watched Ash Vs Evil Dead. Then I went and rewatched everything from the beginning. Definitely have a new appreciation of the remakes, even if I probably won't rewatch them

Here's a good couple of fun facts.
The chainsaw in this movie was a real working chainsaw. Good thing Bruce was very careful not to end up injuring the actress playing Linda while filming that dangerous scene.
The sounds of ticking and chiming clocks when Ash comes out of the cellar is actually from the opening title sequence of the 1960 film The Time Machine.

My go to horror franchise every Halloween. There is also and Evil Dead musical and its the greatest thing I've ever seen, people who sit in the 1st few rows get splashed with fake blood it's awesome

This is my favourite horror film. I've seen it countless times but I've never given the women props for their acting, except Cheryl pleading to leave after being tree-r@ped. Somehow they are SO good that I completely forgot they were acting. I've always bought into the fact that they are demons lol and I'm too creeped out and imvolved in the film that i forget they are actors!!! Even though I know it's a film. Which doesn't make sense to me lol. How have I missed this? Thank you for waking me up to their brilliant performances.
My cousin and I snuck to watch thE VHS at my grandmas house. We were like 8 years old! This was my official first horror movie and I loved it.

Have one recommendation in movie for you: PONTYPOOL (2008), this movie is excellent and tense.

Chiiiill’ This whole movie is camp. That’s the essence of its appeal. Bruce doing schlapstick prat falls and everything falling on him? This was meant to be a midnight horror classic that Elvira would show. The WAY TOO over acting is hilarious. I’ve been in the industry for a long time and the best times I had was when we were on a low budget, on location shoot! One of my movies, I get hit by a truck, cut in half and don’t die! It was so fun! The stories I could tell. I took over C. Thomas Howell’s role in an off broadway play. This man saw me and came back several times, bringing different people to see me. It turns out he was the Director of the old classic, “Don’t Look in the Basement”. He was casting for the sequel and he thought I would be perfect for the killer. I didn’t know that every night I was performing, I was auditioning. FUN!!! The bad part was I couldn’t shower to get the fake blood off of me, so nearly every time I was driving home, I’d get stopped by the police because they thought I was in distress. I was like, NO! I just want to get naked and jump in the shower! Good times…
Have y’all seen “Men on Film”? It is a skit of these two black queens reviewing movies on “In Living Color”. Y’all should RUclips it if you haven’t. You’ll see yourselves! 🤣❤️
This movie is still my favorite of the original trilogy. It's the very definition of unhinged chaos. You can almost break it down into 3 concrete acts; The first act is the setup, where the film is at its corniest, silliest, and setting up only the most basic of plot. Once Cheryl and Ash try to leave, it goes into the 2nd Act, where the blood flows, the body parts start flying and everything goes to hell. And then once Linda finally dies, and Ash is all alone, we go into the 3rd and final Act, where it gets experimental. This part of the film is my favorite section to watch on repeat visits; You can see Raimi going full tilt with all the filmmaking techniques, as Ash begins to unravel and the Deadites break him down. I've always loved how unapologetically gross, bloody, and disturbing these films are...
We just moved into like a 200 year old house and the basement like JUST like that lol. I should buy a replica of the book and leave it down there so someday when my kids are older and they’ve seen this movie…they’ll find it and get totally freaked out 😂😂😂

You2 should do shudders paranormal found footage zoom horror “Host” one of my favorite paranormal horrors ever and filmed during lockdown in their own homes , all stunts , makeup , etc was done by each actor in their own home during lockdown and the director kept each story of each character to themselves so it’d be a genuine suprise to the others , awesome!

His name actually is Ashley J "for Joanna" Williams. If you Notice his Sister was calling him Ashley, in the Series his dad calls him Ashley. So, you guys are right Ash is short for Ashley.

If you wanna know how Ash (Bruce Campbell) gets his chainsaw hand, you have to watch the movie Army of Darkness. It's a lot more comedic than the two evil dead movies, but retains just enough horror elements that you both should enjoy it.

Once you finish the movies you have to watch the tv series Ash VS The Evil Dead, it’s a great campy series. This series used so much “blood” it’s hilarious.

I hated Army of Darkness so much I was very disappointed when it first came out it was more of a zany comedy then a horror movie it was stupid but parts 1 & 2 are great & the 2 remakes 2013, 2023 are so so damn good.
Army of Darkness is the film you actually have to thank for the books in the newer films :p. I’m glad it got a little love shown to it in Rise by them revealing that there are 3 books and they kept the teeth that it had. I feel that while he leaned far too much towards the humor and the camp- it’s also why we have Ash vs the Evil Dead as a series too because he wouldn’t be the bad ass he is in that show either because he didn’t become that character until Army of Darkness.
