Personally with my US ID.4 with 3.1 the software has been very good. No major issues at all, the only issue is it is a bit laggy on start up. I enjoy the car a lot.
Next level video Chris, you had some cools shots in there!
My thoughts too…
mine is in the garage today i was told they are going to update to 3.2 from 2.4. I cannot wait to get it. Even with problems i love my 1st edition really. Great informative video. I do not know what i will do without your very useful info. Plus the ID looks good in white. I have Moon grey , which is also awsome
I got the 3.2 as well due to major problems. Didn't work so they changed the 'Radio' (assume it is main UI computer) again. But it didn't solve the problem - the car is truly possessed - turns on the music from the smart phone even with BT set to off (it turns it on in the phone again - I am not kidding) - it turns the heat either fully up or down and turns on the seat heat and steering wheel heat too - it constantly reboots and recently it inverts the little display ahead of the steering wheel so most becomes black on white and not vice versa.
The car is now basically undrivable and VW cannot solve it despite many many attempts.
I have renamed it Christine.
I do have videos of the 'devil' within.
3.0 fixed all the issues I had with my ID.3 and I've been very happy with it. Going to get 3.2 soon at the service.
Quite relieved my ID.3 came with 3.2 - whether or not it made a difference it's been fine for me.
Yeah, let's just enjoy our cars. Haters will always hate.
This episode was very funny because of the bloopers with the drone! Nice faces! LOL
From your last video saying that 3.0 OTA is no longer happening, I contacted VW UK to ask when the retailers would start to call the cars in, and as expected they knew nothing about it and said I would get it OTA. I said don’t think so and told them what you said. So they said call the retailer. I did and they said yes it will be happening and booked me in for mid June for the update to 3.2. They said there was also a battery recall but could not tell me if this was the 12v or the main battery.
it'll be the big battery check we all have now. 12v was done with 2.4
Great job on the intro!
That was a joke 20 years ago, about getting cars that we'd get told _Did you try to restart it_ ...
I have the steering wheel heating stuck to 2 with 2,4 every now and then. It first started about 6 months ago and now I think it happens less. Could it be a cloud syncing issue? I use the “start heating” from the app in the mornings.
I have 3.1 on my 2021 ID.4 and I have had the same problem with the steering wheel heater stuck on and the UI not responding.
Do you get the new user settings are available pop up ?
Ha ha - loved the intro and outro 😅
For the Android auto we found if me and my partner get in the car together it totally freezes up the infotainment and won't connect to either of our devices but usually works all the time on our own. We have the same issues you described and have to reboot the system. On 2.4 software.
I love ❤your car!😢 If you can please next time you go to a VW event can you please ask is there any chance that your U.S. /North American viewers will ever see an ID.3 on our shores? Not interested in a smaller ID.2 ID.3 is still the perfect everyday commuter for us Americans.😢 Thanks for the continued great content!
Loved the end piece, you loon!👏😄👍😂🤪
My car is now 2 years old and I can't even get updated to 2.4 here in France. According to dealer VW have put it on hold, it's a joke.
I’m still on 2.4 version. And nobody knows when will be update in Ireland. Id4 gtx.
Do you know when the cars get delivered with Android Automotive ? Do you know if existing cars will get Android Automotive as well ?
yeah, my ID4 1st max is getting update from 2.4 to 3.2 today.. ** shocked **
I note that your phone is a Pixel 6 Pro. I have problems with connecting and disconnecting with my Pixel 6 Pro. With my Samsung Galaxy S20 I have absolutely no issues.
I have reverted to using the Samsung with the ID.3 exclusively now.
ID.4 1st pro on 2.4 with Pixel 6 Pro here. Zero issues, works very stable
What about 'You need to log in again" notification message which does not go off even after repeated logins, have you encountered it already? I had it, then got rid of it by resetting to factory settings (removing main driver), but now after ~5 months I am getting it again..😂
Easy fix for this: In the car, clear all login messages and go to your user profile in the top and find the online settings. Turn off all 3 options and leave your car. Check your App, to make sure car is offline. Go back to your car and turn all 3 options back on. You’ll get no more login messages now. At least it worked for me and several others I told about it.
Hey man, do you advise me to get the ID.3 facelift version coming end this year or Tesla Model 3?
No advice. Test them both, see what is best for you.
Get the Tesla model 3 no questions about it. Their software and computer hardware is at least 5 years ahead if not more.
Tesla’s software is solid and seamless and super fast there is no comparison. Their charging network is best as well.
The fit and finish of ID might be a bit better but the Tesla experience is much better it’s like a future proof basically.
@@blueplanet1048 thanks
great intro you should start offering your services to youtubers as most of their intro are rubbish.
For android auto I had the same problem, now when I get into the car I don't do anything but sitting in the chair and wait till the blinking white lights are finished after around 30 seconds, then I hit the brake pedal and press ok the user notification and android auto works.
Since I've been doing this I never had any problems with connecting my samsung phone thankfully as this really pissed me off sometimes 😂
Misschien je logo veranderen naar Ajax. Dan schijnt het beter te werken.
@@Worstenboer nee, dan weet je namelijk zeker dat er niks goed loopt.
The android auto problem i even have in my toyota chr. Think its more android issue. After resetting my phone its mostly fixed
It works perfectly in a Kia Ev6
Id3! Just too damn cute
Connecting with Apple CarPlay is also slow 😕
My dealer claims that they don’t know how to instigate the OTA update… 🤯
Your id and my golf 8 software are schizophrenic. I assure you that I am enjoying (or should I say despairing) too. A greeting.
It astonishes my that VW can't handle EV... I own Enyaq and the bugs are killing me...
Nice number plate if you read it in English.
If this was mine, it would have gone a while ago. Not impressed, very poor. Glad I got a Kia which has been faultless in its first year. (That’s jinxed it😂😂)
I do remember when I bought my tesla in June 2019 a lot of volkswagen “people” told I should wait till the id3 would come it would be much better……I do not regret I bought the tesla
I don't regret buying an ID.3. Tesla people usually pretend that there are zero issues, but we all know that it's not true.
@@ID.SuperFan-tq8xi I don’t pretend there is nothing wrong. The autowippers is not good especially when it’s dark. But by magic we had a software update that made an manual function and that’s fine enough when the auto function don’t work properly
It's so hard to recommend ID3 to my friends - I've had my id3 since October 2020 and i assumed by now this would be all fixed with plenty of regular new features. They just see these sorts of videos and say it's not worth the hassle even now
But if friends will get a new ID3, they will have at least 3.2, which should be in much better condition software-wise.
@@Lascarnn should.. because I remember when they said 2.1 would fix things.. and then 2.4 …
@@bonnaud_dowell2.3 worked just fine, but they broke things in 2.4 as it was supposed to get immediately updated to 3.0.
What a load of faffing around. Don't think I'll be in a rush to get one.
Great job man, don't know how you have the patience.
#VwSoftgate....
Errors occurring 1/10 drives requiring a reboot. 3½ YEARS after launch. This is the most pathetic display of software engineering I have ever heard of. My recommendation to VW is to fire 99% of the software people and let the rest work. And for management to get out of their way. 5000 people aint making it faster. Its just becomming permanent meatings and a clusterfuck of code.
During the past two years I have needed to reboot the infotainment not even once. It has been 100% stable.
Why on earth is VW software so rubbish?
Most likely they rushed it out before it was really ready because it took longer than people thought. Software almost always takes longer than people think. Plus you cannot have good software updates if any of the hardware bits don't update reliably and that's probably also part of the problem. I'd guess that the later software and more uptodate hardware in other new cars will calm the situation down. The first ID3s will need to visit a service centre and I'd speculate that they might have a bit of an OTA problem into the future but it will matter less after customers get a version that works well enough for them (maybe 3.2).
@@timmurphy5541 We have had our ID3 for 3 years and it’s superb apart from the software and heater control not illuminated. The software improvements have been poor and VW are way behind competitors such as Kia and Tesla.
@@pauldarlington9157 well, the problem for them is that patching up a rushed job is very expensive now. I would guess they didn't do nearly enough testing of the OTA update feature such that it's possibly not very reliable. The implication of testing is that you fix the things that are wrong - which you cannot do properly if your testing is last-minute and under pressure. I think the owners of more recent models might feel the whole situation less acutely than you do. It's just all a reflection of how difficult/risky it is for them to put out updates and perhaps they've not managed to make it safe enough that they can do it for the older models.
The SW works just fine.
@@ID.SuperFan-tq8xi i disagree. We have had ours 3 years now and while there have been marginal improvements it’s still very poor. With better software and interior trim (and heater controls which illuminate!) It would be the perfect car for us.
What a Stupidly Rubbish car is the ID crap! Always the infotainment system. That's why never ever dare or would like to consider to buy a volkswagen EV!
The SW works just fine.
