Stimming could review a can of beans and I would watch the entire thing from start to finish
“I do not like the way the beans are shaped. They fit in my mouth weird. Sorry”
He is good people. You can just feel that he's speaking from the heart. Rare these days sadly.
Link please
butterbeans. it will hafta be butterbeans.
nice review, love the fascination translated and the honesty! Thanks Martin and EB team!
If this whole electronic music thing doesnt work out I think you would do well selling expensive wine.
The real time DJ builds on these synths has little to do with music. How many weird sounds can this thing produce, is the name of the game. Thumbs up on the unbiased review.
orange and black is killer !! has a reminiscence of the jp8000
nailed it!
Lmaooo
Herr Stimming! Technical Brother from another Mother. Einfach ein sehr entspannter und sympathischer Reviewer. immer schön weiter machen, bitte!
vielen dank
What an entertaining, funny and honest presentation by Stimming! :D
I was skeptical in the beginning but now I have the ASM Hydrasynth Desktop edition on top of my wishlist...
Try yourself. It’s not for everyone but sounds great and refreshing
First time I've watched a review from this guy. He's great; knowledgeable, informative and easy to listen. Thanks!
There are some more here on the channel
I highly recommend watching all of his other reviews. I especially recommend his DrumBrute Impact review in which he spends the last 6 minutes just jamming on the thing like a madman.
My first one of your reviews. You have a great demeanour, you know your stuff but have a playful attitude and some of the best facial expressions. All that and you still get the nuts and bolts information through. I think I mean informative and entertaining.
another great review, thanks Martin!
Have to say these are just my favorite reviews right now.
Excellent review, I particulary enjoyed the bits of music he played here, and how the synth's tonal possibilities are highlighted. A true honest and useful review, I'll definitely put this synth on top of my long wishlist :)
have you got it yet?
I'm in love with this synth (colors and all) Can't wait for mine to finally arrive!
Thank you, Martin. This is a great review and you have sold me on this instrument. I am going to buy an ASM Hydrasynth and a Korg Wavestate and I think that will cover my synth needs.
I think it looks good.
The aluminum end caps, are a sweet alternative, to the usual wood or plastic.
Also like the size of the knobs, and the bit of flash on top of them.
Very nice. I appreciate that the modulation levels go to extremes, even if not always musically useful. Too many manufacturers limit our programming options IMO. I'm really considering one of these as a controller for my MicroWaves as they share a similar sound and the Hydrasynth has polyphonic aftertouch - something the MicroWaves respond to beautifully.
An enthusiastic and engaged presentation ... interesting and entertaining.
Thank you.
I'm glad all synth reviewers aren't as amazing as this guy, I'd be on youtube all day and night
Omg...this sounds incredible. I've just purchased the 16 voice deluxe. VERY EXCITED
Im SO on your page ! Im in a quackmire of two minds - i GOT the Explorer and i want MORE ! - but i also NEED a MATRIARCH to stay alive - What Virus ? What War ? A Virus TI !? Call it a first world problem , i do not care - for me its a sannity problem,-
You might already know this, my apologies if so, but keep in mind when you get it that even with the well thought out interface...this is the sort of synth that has a million sweet spots, you can get all manner of sounds out of it, but many of those sweet spots are pretty small. I've fallen into analysis paralysis over this thing but a comment to that affect from a user; one who was initially not sure it was quite what he expected when he finally got his hands on it, but with some time spend exploring it hands on he started to be able to feel it out and it grew on him. Small tweaks go a long way with many of the settings apparently.
I love the way Stimming gives emotion to descriptions with his analogies.
I have to say however that was Aphex Twin at 5:26, and then the Stimming sound at 24:50. So a beautiful broad spectrum here, in portable device. I'm look forward to get one of these.
I love watching and listening til Stimming talk and play around with these machines. Not only some of the best rear reviews on RUclips, but I could watch them just for the small talk. :D
Really like your presentation .... in the same workflow I use when tinkering through a synth of this complexity or similar. So thank you for doing it that way. Definitely pushes me closer to the Hydrasynth Desktop. Thank you too for explaining how to on-the-fly so to speak the architecture and then to do the knobs and use the displays for changes.
Head over to musictalk.tech for Stimmings new reviews
Stimming. Perfect review as always. Ill have one of these crispy Veggie Chickens in a couple weeks. I can't wait. Much love.
This guy should be a national treasure. And great editing to include the very last few seconds of the video.
Wow, thanks!
Amazing review!
13:33 you absolutely nail the description of this wonderful synth
Thanks for the review
Stimming Reviews....Best in the World! Thx a lot. But when comes the summit Review ?
Great value for money, just ordered one
Great video. What a synth.
Great overview. I found this channel last week and have probably watched half of the videos since. I'm subscribing, I'm liking - all of that stuff.
I have heard some complaints, including yours, about this synth not having a very good low end, or indeed mid "end". And actually, it does sound somewhat fizzy - perhaps that's the nature of digital. Maybe it's worth waiting for their next synth.
Great demo. This is more complex than my Schmidt 8-Voice and that's a pretty complex beast.
ah. Very nice, and compact sum up of this complex system. Thanks. I learned things.
That is by far the best reviewer of anything ever. So informative and so nice to listen!
Kamil Trebunia Well, this review is not bad, but you may watch Loopop or Nick Batt for profound reviews.
Check out his music! His Dynamic record is one of the best electronic records ever made! He knows his stuff
@@RayyMusik Nick Batt I agree with. Loopop, he's purely technical, no emotions and no playing. Not someone I'd compare against Stimming or Nick.
@@sinewaymusic A review is a technical matter per se. Music is just a nice add-on.
@@RayyMusik a review doesn't have to be *only* technical at all. It can be about whether a device is fun to use, frustrating, inspiring etc too, which especially Stimming does a great job of relaying. Loopop rarely speaks about those aspects, his reviews are somewhere between a purely technical review and an instruction manual. Would you agree?
Gut gemacht und vielen Dank! I'm totally begeistert about the programming capabilities/possibilities with this synth, but I still haven't seen/heard one presentation where the core sound (without effects) REALLY blows me away (though plenty of patches sound cool). Wish like heck they had used analog filters, as that might have warmed up the tone a bit more, but I'm still pretty impressed with the workflow and controls they incorporated into the synth. I've big respect for ASM trying to make something slightly different from the synth masses.
what i thought i had found here was the exact hardware polysynth for my needs. until the end when it became clear the bass was a bit weak 😞
thank you telecom and stimming for good and deep reviews. the search continues.
Re the appearance of the LED around the master knob and the pitch/mod wheels: I have heard that you can change the colour. It should be possible to choose something that is more harmonious with the panel; maybe orange or red.
I love the design I think it's beautiful suites the sound
HE IS BACK
He was never away 😉
I already wanted the Hydrasynth, now I want those speakers too 🤤
😅
Lovely Duevel Venus speakers but that price tag hurts the soul 😅
This thing looks so damn good! I really get some 80s spaceship vibes!
Great review! At 6:19 ... there is a very easy way to get different waveforms into to Wavescan: Just hold down the Random button (very powerful, multi-purpose button!!) then press the 8 waveform slot buttons...voila!
LOVE the first random patch you generated at 19:30 !!!
Mit dem würde ich mir echt jedes Review anschauen. Der erklärt immer schön schnell aber gleichzeitig ausführlich und weiß auch was er tut. Immer wieder eine Freude. Schade dass die Bewertungen abgeschaltet wurden ...
Very interesting test ! Love those reviews ! I’ll be happy to know what Stimming think about the Argon8 from Modal, since he reviewed other synth by Modal. :)
"So, if you really run out of ideas. Go there" Love the look of distaste at that thought!
I also believe the ASM Hydrasynth is designed in a similar vein to the AH-64 Apache. It is a tool, it's purpose is obvious.
best new synth - yeah getting this one
I have the rack mount version of this beast , the user interface is so easy to use.
I actually like the look. The kinda retro orange on black is nice and how it matches with the backlit LEDs is cool. Love the intuitive interface and ease of modulation assignment, etc. Seems pretty unique still compared to others. The light/small form factor is perfect for me and the price for what you get I think is really good, the keybed, build quality (especially knobs), poly AT and able to do everything the bigger ones can except for the ribbon controller.
I love using it as a MIDI controller since as you mentioned the macro knobs send MIDI and you can configure and name them, save it as a preset and voilà you have a customized setup per device by simply changing the patch. First digital synth in a while I actually enjoy using . Apart from bass and percussion, I can use it for all other sounds/tracks if I’d like.
Edited: Somehow lost my comment so rewrote it and looking back it almost sounds like I’m advertising it. I have no affiliation with it, I just really like it and kinda amazed at all the features, like just the number of LFOs and envelopes alone.
came for the synth, stayed for the guy
"I think it sounds vegetarian"
aka "anemic"
lol :D
impurfekt he probably meant “organic” but “anemic” is much more funny.
Hes defiantly over the fence!
I'm quite curious what brand and model of the speakers thy are using on this video.
My man those speakers behind you are amazing looking tell me you built them, say hi to Solomon big fan nice one!
A Stimming Review of the Circuit Mono Station would be sweet
Holy molly, crackle box on side!! Remember building one in Amsterdam years ago...what a funny thing to have....beside of Hydra ofc
yes, bought it at steim while staying in their guesthouse - I was playing on the 4D system for the first time. long ago.
@@MartinStimming Yeah, guys from STEIM rocks, keep good work Martin, great to see reviews from you sir.
What's a crackle box?
I loved this review so much! Such expertise and detail! I bought this machine last year and adore it. I agree however that it lacks some “balls” in the bass range. I would be really interested to know what people recommend to make up for that. Better settings, other synths, modular additions, etc. Any ideas?
Check his new reviews here www.musictalk.tech
It's so capable and deep. It is really a fantastic synth and looks to have great build quality and connectivity options. I think I'm holding out for the argon8 though just based on the sound and music I make. This doesn't seem warm or organic sounding like the argon8.
Ich mag dich als reviewer wirklich, deine Art macht es einfach interessant und lustig zugleich und nebenbei bemerkt, was sind das für interessante Lautsprecher hinter dir?
Thank you.
i like this stimming guy, nohype style. veeeeery well done. [edit] luvly synth too.
hmm, I wonder if that last sound with the wobble, could be manipulated of the wobble using the poly aftertouch, so per note fast slow wobble effect depending on key pressure not so much on having to press that button.. THAT is what I want!
I love this dude.
The speakers are Duevel Venus. thank me later..
would thank you if i was a fan of omnidirectional speakers but i am not. :-P
Thanks!
I would watch him review anything.
Great review! Planning to get this one or the explorer. Did you ever have the chance to try the Warm Mode to see if that adds some balls to the bass sounds?
Check his new reviews on musictalk.tech
That's just a reupload of the same review...
There are plenty new ones is what I mean
Sonicstate and/or Loopop got into some of the filters in their review of the original hydrasynth and were making some bass sounds that were quite intense. Maybe trending more towards a very heavy 303 sound, but they didn't linger on bass sound design. It's possible with some careful tweaking you could get other very strong bass tones out of it.
Megaaa wie immer nice Stimming !!!!!!! Mach doch mal bitte ein review vom Modal Argon 8
Das ist wirklich eine gute Idee.
Impressive to me :) Thanks
Love the omnidirectional Duevel speakers. I think they are the Venus model.
yes they are :)
too few reviews showcase the wild & crazy side of what this thing can do, luckily stim-man got you covered

29:14 "NAAAAH IT'S NOT CHICKEN" 😂😂😂
Sounds nice... keyboard split?
I love this guy
What is the wood thingy on the right that he touches?
let's get him to review that nonlinear C15 next!
There are no other videos where somebody use the CV IN.gate for Drums is there a reason for it ? it is better to do percussion separately ?
Ahahah awesome review as usual!!! it's awesome how Stimming manages to mix technical info with just practical musician stuff. Very very cool.
I think the synth is awesome. Yeah it lacks a lot on the bass and some sounds are a little bit too digital and 'steppy' (?) but it's fresh, the interface is amazing, sound design wise is crazy, and we all have an analog monosynth to add where this lacks.
Having watched a dozen or so vids on this new Hydrasynth, it reminds me of a 're-imagined' ESQ-1 (ESQ-M in my case) sound and workflow, now with the bells & whistles of the 21st C. As you said, its actually quite a fresh sound in comparison with all other competing HW coming on to the market at present in various guises.... may need a loan extension! 😎🎹👍🎶
First thing that I thought ! Hey an ESQ 1 :) The filter in the ESQ-1 sounds much better though IMHO.
It's like a PPG3 reborn, the only issue I've got with it so far is that they should have put a 5 octave keyboard on it, and ideally they should have painted it blue :)
The LED color around the big knob and the two wheels is configurable. Orange is ASM's decided color brand so....
I expect to hear the sounds of the Hydrasynth, in the next Transformers movie.
great for making nintendo arcade sounds.......would love for ASM to make a poly aftertouch and full ribbon 61 key keyboard controller. i would buy three.
It is poly aftertouch
Great review! Great because you immediately explained the architecture. Great because of your honesty. You did not explain the importance of poly aftertouch....mono aftertouch is a gimick, and gimicky sounding. The difference between poly and mono aftertouch is like the difference between an organ with a volume pedal that controls overall volume..... and a piano where each finger is a volume control.
Lovely sounding machine and the balls can always be added later in post.
or with another synth - there are plenty of options on the market.
is it possible to split keyboard ?
13:22 Where‘s the panic button? :D
Fantastic machine anyways; not only loopable LFOs like many synths, but also a loop limit. This, the ribbon corresponding with the keys, and the entire UI are excellent examples of thoughtful engineering.
I havent tried this synth. But as a new guy in this business, I think it is really logically build. User interface-wise :) wow, that sentence dont even make sense, but you all know what i mean :p
Taking notes 📝
I dont like the synth but i really like the review !
Do you have a review video of the Korg Prologue 16?
Nope, sorry
Nice demo - but how does it match up to my old Blofeld module? Sonically especially - clearly there are big differences in the user interface & number of knobs, keyboard, ribbon etc. But the Blofeld costs way less, has at least 3x the polyphony, loads of wavetables, including interesting ones, and USER SAMPLES!! Put it this way: this hardware with the Blofeld's software would be a killer.
I love Blofeld, but this is more than just a comparable engine to the Blofeld, it's a full blown performance instrument. I don't see it replacing my Blofield necessarily, but rather complimenting it. It's deeper in some respects to the Blofeld, the polyphony and multitimbrality of the Blofeld does win out, and like you say the sample memory, but in most other respects, this hydra synth is a winner. Poly aftertouch on a regular keyed! And much more..
Subscribed. :-)
I think it Looks awesome BTW ;) the 80s Retro cyberpunk Vibe is awesome

Good one, keep practicing that theremin mode though ;-)
best sounds ever
Hi Martin, you commented about the lack of balls and punch. After owning one for a while is this still your perception? I'm on the brink of buying one but am concerned about your comment. I've owned other synths which had great sounds but suffered from the same issue and it is important to me.
Just add some bass on the mixer channel.
I as well would like to see/hear some more suggestions for how to supplement with other devices. Just pulled the trigger on this today and am excited but im sure I will want LOTS of punch in no time. Someone previously mentioned "we all have an analog mono" to "fix" that issue..
@@joelwakefield whats your experience after 2 months now? very tempted to buy it too!
@@claudiongleur still havent had enough time w it or enough speaker on it to tell. really like it though and glad I picked it!
This synth sounds like electricity. Superb.
what are those weird wooden stuff around stimming ? speakers ???
Ich liebe es zu sehen, wie dieser Synth Stimmings Kreativität triggert :D
What are those speakers next to you? Looks omni-directional
Looks like Duevels
What's the little wooden box on the left of him?
Leon den Engelsen cracklebox
@@CraigCrouse ah thanks! I'll check it out.
Stimming.... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE review the updated Deluxe 16 voice version
Great video! I wish this thing showed the lights on the knobs modulate with the lfo, maybe something similar to NI massive. What synth would you buy first? The hydrasynth vs Iridium vs peak?
Bevor du Iridium kaufst, probier mal den Waldorf Nave als vst aus. Ich hab den Iridium wieder abbestellt.
you should start a channel and talk about anything i would watch it have a good laugh cheer up my day
