Thanks so much for the great review Martin! Audio hiccups are of course a big no-go and this was a beta version of the software. Stability is our top priority for the update that will be available on the October 1st release date. Really nice to see you having so much fun with morphing and macros. You can in fact set macros per sound, per group, and also on the master, which would give you what you're looking for. Regarding performance, while starting one instance of Monark shows a 20% usage of the CPU, that does not mean that opening four instances of Monark would take up 80% CPU. The CPU usage will only go up a few percent if you use the same instrument. Thanks for the great feedback and suggestions, we're happy you're excited for Maschine+!

@Stimming I appreciate your effort to be totally transparant and sincere about your opinions and thoughts regarding this product, great job! N.I could have done it right by implementing the GUIs of VST Instruments into the display to make it actually work in stand-alone giving the dual displays an actual reason to exist.
Great review. NI has all those algorithms in place and through the years they made nice sounding filters, reverbs, delays in form of plugins or Reaktor Blocks. Recently they implemented many of those in Kontakt (Replika, Raum) but somehow they left Maschine behind. Maybe this will change with introduction of + model. Time will tell.
I bought my maschine studio in2016. Been using it since then. I was tempted to upgrade to mk3 especially when I started using my M-studio for live performances. Now im waiting for my maschine+. This is exactly what i was looking for
Excellent review, thanks a lot!! I’m a Maschine owner, but MK1. I will probably not buy Maschine + now, but I have to say that I’m still learning new things, especially about the lock feature. Very nice, thank you.
Minute 39: I'm a long time maschine user and also when I started using Bitwig I thought the same: Maschine should have a modulation section on top of everything!
Perfect remark about NI "presets" business model. Thank You Mr. Stimming, at least someone speaks about killing creativity by overloading everything with presets and "expansions".
I love his honest approach in this review!Super great! And better saying things the way they are, nothing is perfect in life...and if we approach things like they are perfect, there is no space for improvement...
Totally with Stimming re preset overkill and the dependence on native instruments ecosystem. Overall a solid and honest look at this box. Looking forward to the next review! (:
Quite the definition of a DAW in a box. While I love the lock states(which seems like the control-all on the Digitakt),I kinda hate the fact that it still feels almost like a computer. Plus I’m quite sure that NI will give more sound packs in the future, rather than extended sound manipulation options and capabilities.
Regarding the last point, with creating better presets and moving them from the PC for example: they could fix this but creating some sort of sync function, that would sync samples, presets, projects etc via native access (it already does that with the products you own, would be great if it would do that also with the user library). Then you could just edit a preset on the laptop, press sync, and bling, it would show up on the M+
Thanks for the review! One thing you can't do from the MK3 (you have to do it on the computer) is map an external USB midi controller to a knob control - can you do this on the Maschine Plus? That also avoids the problem of your onscreen macros disappearing when you change context (group etc).
Minute 35: Clips. He's using the beta version of the hardware which still doesn't have the final clips feature (that's why he couldn't figure it out). That will come out now in october. It allows to convert patterns to clips, which won't be locked to the sections and can be moved freely across the arrangement.
Loving it so far and want more of these reviews. @Stimming @1:30, "rugged' could work, yep!! Probably "sturdy" or "robust" might be more suitable in this instance, but rugged would also be acceptable. Great review :)
Hi you can modulate start Point from sampler Sound engine parameter. The start point on the sampling page is just for trimming. On Macro set Page in you go to higher instance group and Master there you have the overall parameters of your set you was aiming for .
Thanks Martin for the very good MASCH+ review. :-) As always very refreshing your North-German-English. When I close my notebook and put the MK 3 machine on top, the package is not smaller either and I have everything I need on board. All packages all plug-ins working. THE BIG POINT: What happens to the CPU / RAM performance of MASCH+ when a lot of plugins/effects/tracks/samples are running. I don't trust that more complex projects are possible with the MASCH+ hardware. But I would be happy if I am wrong. Do not care much about touch screens and be dependent on a battery. .....Let me say it this way: Unfortunately i have to take my AKAI MPC LIVE to jam on traveling or outdoor..., even if I find the Mpc S/P/T workflow unbearable. But maybe in a few years (lets hope not) when MASCH+ has grown ..... Maybe .... Let's hope for the next few years that NI will find back to a good balanced way: "The right development for music and artists" OR "The maximum for shareholders and profit"…The good reputation of gone days does NOT last forever.
The Maschine + without a battery compared to an older Maschine controller that's powered through the battery on your laptop... which one is the more "standalone" solution?
Standalone in this case means independent from a computer, nothing else. How many other standalone synths or grooveboxes do you know with internal battery besides the MPC Live? There is probably a reason for this, size, weight, battery leaks maybe? I would prefer to use a powerbar if I wanna be Independent from a wall charger.
Telekom Electronic Beats Well, what about the Deluge, which is made by an even smaller company and also less expensive? Battery leakage as an excuse not to include it? How often do we hear of that problem in laptops? And what's the excuse for not giving it a touchscreen, for the missing i/o connections and most of all for giving it a pricetag as if it did have all these things? I realize the quality of NI plug ins is indeed superior to most others and I do like the overall idea of the Maschine + as a groovebox. But like another RUclipsr has already commented, it seems like a rather arrogant price for something that's missing the true standalone value other products offer already, no matter how you define this terrm.
@LousyFacelift Not sure what your problem is, if you don't like it just go for the Deluge. There are so many machines for everyone in every price category. Iam a heavy MPC user since day one and work with a MPC Live. Do I use the touchscreen? Yes, because I have to for some functions but Iam way faster and precise with knobs and buttons. So if I could choose I would prefer more Buttons and Pots instead of a touchscreen. Do I need internal battery? No, I just used it maybe 2-3 times. A powerbank would also do the job. So different people have different needs and preferences. And yes Maschine+ is definitely not cheap but you have to compare it more with a MPC X or Octatrack which are about the same price range. You can plug in Midi and Audio Interfaces via USB to extend In/Outputs but as Stimming says, it's probably not designed as the centerpiece of a studio and to control lots of external gear. But it definitely has a lot of potential. So let's see and time will tell and customers decide. PS. Stimming is just selling his Deluge www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/s-anzeige/synthstrom-deluge-incl-decksaver-extra-sd-karte-/1512079952-74-9431
what about latency Stimming ?, will it crumble when loaded, its already breaking up on so little? how much could it handle? what about the over-all sound quality of conversion? what else from NI could be loaded into it ? can i use Reaktor, VST's ? what are the limits to that? ..Id like to know the difference in power , as the standalone feature is convenient and cool but at what cost to my Maschine now ?

But it definitely has a lot of potential. So let's see and time will tell and customers decide.
PS. Stimming is just selling his Deluge

what about latency Stimming ?, will it crumble when loaded, its already breaking up on so little? how much could it handle? what about the over-all sound quality of conversion? what else from NI could be loaded into it ? can i use Reaktor, VST's ? what are the limits to that? ..Id like to know the difference in power , as the standalone feature is convenient and cool but at what cost to my Maschine now ?
Colin Farrell really knows what he's talking about
Martin doesn't look like Colin Farrell.
Two opposing opinions on the internet?! I cant.
