A marvelous explanation of how to perform Hiza-guruma. I have always tried to execute it exactly like a Sasae-tsurikomi-ashi and have always experienced difficulty. I now realize my mistakes as regards foot placement of the supporting leg and the direction of my hikite. I can't wait to try it out on the mats and then share it with my students. Domo arigato! 🥋😃🙏
Thanks so much Jun, you are truly our biggest fan. We always appreciate your support! I'm glad the content conveyed despite being cobbled together from several classes with wildly different lighting and sound inputs...I think you'll be even more satisfied with the koshi guruma & kubi-nage video we have coming in the very near future!
An excellent explanation. My jiu-jitsu teacher taught a throwing workshop and he covered this move. I struggled quite a bit with Hiza Guruma but this video helped make things a little clearer for me.
1:33 sorry but I must mention this, that particular action right there is the first movement in Gekisai-dai-ichi kata of Go-Ju ryu karate. It's interesting because the new karate social movement is looking for understanding and explanations of the meaning behind the moves in kata.
If you demonstrate Kodokan judo, you have to stick to the Kodokan denominations. Hiza guruma is ashi waza, period. Why are you complicating well established things ?

Thank you for explaining the options for Hiza Guruma!
Absolutely, thank you for watching!
Thank you for your explanation sensei. I needed to know how to properly wheel someone which most videos don't explain so well
You are very welcome!
Beautifully explained, thank you.
Thank you for saying so and for watching!

Thanks Rae!
Sensei Riki…videos are amazing. They just keep getting better and better. Amazing attention to detail.
Good job Ryan 💪
Thanks Kevin! They're getting a heck of a lot better!
I'm glad I received proper instruction on this; I was taught Sasae in person, and I learned here why I've probably been having trouble with Hiza.
Glad we could help!
Great! Especially the comment on the shoulder strain, it makes a lot of sens to grip differently
Thanks!

Just started Sambo
I love how you teach
Will use the twisting and not the pulling
Why should I work out more? Your approach IS more direct
We love hearing that! Thank you very much for watching.
Where do you think is the best place to post the ball of your foot on the knee of uke ,above the knee ,or under his knee???
Just below the knee cap.
