@@gagida1829 hahah, I'm okay at it, I wouldn't say good though. Yellow belt, I can do a couple of nice throws and trips, but I have a lot to learn about grip fighting and setups. Even when I manage to secure a good grip, I'm not good enough at off-balancing the opponent to perform a clean throw. Usually.

Interesting variation with the lapel lock, it's something we do in BJJ for wrist lock or back take and since the end position is ending on side or north south it could be actually be really handy on that situation for a control throw and then pin to finish in a full flowing combo, thanks for the video :)

You know I think this is the best judo channel on RUclips. Many people don’t understand that many throws were put in judo to practice safely, dangerous jujutsu movements. Hiza guruma is one of these. Slowly and carefully, do the basic movement, but push the knee straight backwards. You will injure the knee and they will bend forward exposing their neck for a severe choking attack. For heaven’s sake, no randori with that. Just get the rhythm. There are a great many of these in judo. If you need proof, look at how many throws are in traditional Kodokan judo but how many of those actually score ippon in shiai. Wonderful as always.

    In my utmost humble opinion.
“ True Martial Skill is equivalent to death disguised in elegance”
Due to the high level of detail in your tutorials, me and my students are actually capable of implementing the fundamentals of your Judo into our overall MMA curriculum, as we also focus heavily on adapting combat sport specific techniques for self defense purposes, and especially when one integrates the high percentage sweeps and hip throws and one synergistically flows within the different ranges of combat, striking/ wrestling/ grappling/ clinch/ ground, akin to units that completes the whole, truly goes to show how devastating Judo can be, and how the techniques add and compliments one’s overall skill sets.
An honor and joy to be able to learn from such an peer as yourself mr Higashi.
    Sincere regards.

Good stuff as always. I’ve always preferred sasae over hiza guruma because of the ease of the opponents grabbing your blocking foot since it’s fairly high beside the knee. With sasae, the blocking foot is really far down on the ankle and much harder to try and grab. Go judo. 🥋🤙🏾😎

The timing, too. In sasae you block the foot WHILE it's stepping forward so he "trips" with your foot. In hiza guruma you block the knee right BEFORE uke's leg starts to advance.
