  • In this video you will find out why the BMW M5 Touring is such a unique car. I will tell you about its special engine, progressive options, rarity and offcourse how it drives. For the making of this video, I have chosen two different locations. I have tested its steering and chassis on the rural roads in the Achterhoek (eastern area of the Netherlands). For testing its sixth gear and the full engine power I crossed the border to check it out on the German Autobahn.

    This was a great review. You mention and show some details that many other car reviewers don’t e.g. the switch for the adaptive dampers, you actually filmed it being switched on too.
    This channel has great potential and you are a natural presenter. Also great camera work, on this one, but especially on the GTI video.
    Now as far as the sound goes, there is room for improvement. Sound is sometimes as important as good camera work or the location you choose, it brings out emotions. I think there is a lot of potential in sound, as many car reviewers nowadays mostly talk. Imagine when you drove the car, what sound did you hear, that made the car special...
    To put things in perspective, the camera angles I mentioned above, try doing that with sound. Quality sound of the car, not only the engine, but the whole car and it’s special details (e.g. doors being shut) etc.
    Music is a great way of sparkling up emotions, but if overused it just becomes noise and takes away from other great work you do. Use the dramatic music, for parts of the video where you really want to emphasise something you shared with us.
    This is only my opinion, I hope you find some of it useful.
    Great job and please post more!
    Best Tomaz

      Thank you Tomaz. As well for the compliments as the usefull feedback about sound. We are still looking for ways to further optimize the sound. We find it difficult to produce a sound that is good on all different devices. The video sounds very different on a phone, than it does on a computer or tv with high-end speakers. We have taped the sounds of engine, exhaust and interior on individual tracks and mixed those afterwards. It could also be nice however to individually let them be heard.

  • @SoontobeClassics

    Somehow two minor errors have gotten into the production numbers:
    -BMW M Coupe (based on Z3) -> The number of almost 22.000 is based on the total of Coupe and Roadster combined. The Roadster was built a little over 15.000 times and the Coupe just over 6.000. So especially the Coupe is a lot rarer than mentioned in the video.
    -Bugatti Veyron -> during editing the number of 415 was added, but when you listen carefully you can hear me say 450. The correct number is 450.

  • @RasheedKhan-he6xx
    @RasheedKhan-he6xx 5 лет назад +2

    In other words they're rarer than hens' teeth. Wonderful. 🙄
    Also I seem to recall a sporty Peugeot wagon around 1989-90. I used to drift it around rural roundabouts in France,. This was before you kids made 'drifting' a word. :) Don't hold me to this but maybe it had the mi16 engine?

    • @SoontobeClassics
      @SoontobeClassics  5 лет назад +2

      That must have been the Peugeot 505 GTI Break. That was a sporty RWD Peugeot wagon in 1989, so you could have been drifting that car. But it was in a different league than the BMW M5. Although the 505 might have felt quick, its engine only delivered 120ps. That's about a third of the engine power of the M5 Touring, so I still think the M5 is the first true high performance wagon.

    Ok that’s kind of stretching the truth when you separate 5 and 6 speeds with the M5 touring to make it seem more rare. We get it at about 900 total 👍

    Music put me off instantly, I'm afraid.
    Music is very subjective and I don't watch a car video for music. That's an instant 'switch off' for me and I expect many others.

    • @SoontobeClassics
      @SoontobeClassics  5 лет назад

      So you didn’t watch the whole video? When did you switch off?

    • @julianevans9548
      @julianevans9548 5 лет назад

      @@SoontobeClassics As soon as I heard music. That always makes me turn off straight away.
      Maybe it's just a thing I have, but I find it hugely off-putting to have music in the background of a review. Reminds me of 'Top Gear', I suppose - mercifully, things have moved on since then.
      No offence meant, just my own personal feeling.

    • @SoontobeClassics
      @SoontobeClassics  5 лет назад +1

      Thanks for your honest opinion. I am curious what you think of the music in another one of our videos. I really would like to know if you would have liked our video about the Peugeot 205 GTI better if it hadn’t had the music that we added. I personally think it really ads something good to the video. Could you take a couple of minutes to fully view the video before you let me know?

    • @julianevans9548
      @julianevans9548 5 лет назад

      @@SoontobeClassics Soon to be Classics I'm afraid I found the music painful - very annoying. It wasn't the choice of music, it'd be the same with any music. As for the video, I think a lot of people will find your film work very impressive, although that doesn't mean anything to me personally. I didn't find I learned much about driving the 205 from the video: it was more information and facts.

    • @SoontobeClassics
      @SoontobeClassics  5 лет назад +2

      @@julianevans9548 thank you for taking the time to watch the video. Sad to hear that you still didn't like the music, but apparently tastes differ. We always try to present as complete a picture as possible of the filmed car. We have to make choices, because in less than 6 minutes you can only tell limited information. In the film about the 205 GTI, I share different facts about the car and information about its history. The way it exactly drives and handles is indeed not covered in great detail in my story. On the other hand, we tried to give an impression of what it is like to drive with such a hot hatch via the camera images. That being said; every video is a compromise. You will probably be able to find other fun videos online without music, in which you learn more about driving the car in question. There will also be people who don't like those videos, but that doesn't matter. If we were all the same, it would be a boring world ;-)

    Only 6291 M Coupés were produced, that was for left & right hand drive cars with the following power plants S52 (US only) S50 & S54. Not sure where your figure of 22000 comes from.

    • @SoontobeClassics
      @SoontobeClassics  4 года назад

      I think you’re right. My source has probably added the production numbers of both the Z3 M Coupe and the Z3 M Roadster. When you add those together, the total number is around 22.000. So the M Coupe itself is actually more rare than a Lamborghini Gallardo...
