As a Paper Mario lover, this review brought back so many good feelings. Looking forward to seeing you play it on stream and I may have to get a copy for myself if I'm liking it :eyes:
This looks like such a cute game - cute aesthetic and interesting story. A little like spirit farer where you are helping ghosts ascend - this seems like a more meaningful story than just finding a boss and defeating it. I have never actually played a paper Mario style game before, but from the review and gameplay I saw on twitch, I might have to try out this game :) In terms of the review - I liked how you talked a little about the gameplay itself before the combat. Also you mentioning the Kickstarter makes me want to go read up on the inspiration behind the game. Nice video! Keep them coming.
This game seems so good didn't catch my attention until the publisher started being dirty to the devs and broke the contract , and apparently releasing a different version despite, great review.
I never played Paper Mario, I'm surprised by the lack of games on the market that are inspired by it. Hopefully The Outbound Ghost is the first of many (Born of Bread looks very promising).
D-did the devs pay you to say this? are you friends with the devs? not to offend, sure, but... the game is pretty damn bad. Offensively boring even. Did you... like... skip the entire Paper Mario franchise from TTYD to The Origami King to come with the "Paper Mario but better" statement?
This video was made after 3-5 hours of playtime before I got more into the game and it actually lost my interest as the story got more convoluted and the combat got repetitive and boring as well thanks to DOT attacks everywhere making it unfun. First few hours were really promising, but compared to Paper Mario (Mostly N64 and TTYD as I played those the most) it's got nothing
@@Burr_ Then there was the video by Conrad in which he mentioned that the studio screwed him over and changed the game. ruclips.net/video/mZe9kbeZGf8/видео.html
The only gripe with this game, on switch at least, it takes a long time to load into and out of battles, both docked and handheld. Other than that I really can’t fault this game.
It's only okay. I;ll say the story can get a little boring and the combat gets really egregious with how much DOT attack and enemies take over. Just poison stacks everywhere. Def try a sale for it
I've played for about 10 hours since this video and I havent fully beat it but will say the amount of status effects later down in the game has turned me away from the combat a bit, granted I coulda just been in a grumpy mood but late game has A LOT of effects and its kinda overwhelming
If you're looking for another indie Paper Mario adjacent game, check out Flynt Buckler. It has an active, fully funded kickstarter going for 1 more week and it looks very good.
This was exactly what I was looking for in a outbound ghost review, definitely got the information I was looking for.

I think you'll love it
I've seen a bunch of comments around the internet for this game in the last few days, looks interesting!

Bug Fables exists
You should try Bug Fables :). It takes heavy inspiration from the first 2 Paper Mario games.

Iove paper Mario so picking this up :)
Looking forward to this game. Got a ps4 copy coming from amazon
Amazon? I can't find it on amazon.
I may need to look into getting this game...
Its not in the ps store, guess it's not out yet. The paper mario series are some of my favorite games ever
It's available on Greenman gaming for like $12! I need to pick it up ASAP 😀
The only gripe with this game, on switch at least, it takes a long time to load into and out of battles, both docked and handheld. Other than that I really can’t fault this game.
Another great game that is like Paper Mario is Bug Fables. Please check it out if you haven't, you'll love it.
I was actually directed towards that game when I posted this to patreon subs, will need to check it out
I'm really torn I read online that it is not really that good but it looks so cool

How was the writing?
It's pretty well
But did you played it fully?

Wish the battle system was a bit more interactive like in Undertale, instead of being true turn-based and being forced to take damage.
After playing a bit more I can agree to this and say that the status effects get REALLY annoying later in the game and make it a lot less fun
