Making a Clear Minnow Lure - a how to guide on handmade fishing lures

- The process of making a clear fishing lure is very detailed. In this video I walk through step by step how to make one of these custom baits. This transparent glass fish is modeled somewhat off of a Cyanogaster, recently discovered in Brazil. This amazing freshwater fish has beautiful colors and makes a really awesome minnow stick bait with a natural gliding action. I think this handmade lure would be effective on freshwater species such as bass, crappie and trout as well as smaller saltwater species such as tuna and snapper.

If you do something, you do it excellent. Like this one. You show new ideas and great skills with each of the lures. Congrats.
Thank you very much, I really appreciate your kind words!
@@zimmtex can you show where you buy your grinding tips and grinder
I only watch you and Marlin Baits as luremakers, usually every evening before bed and my other half couldn’t care less about it, but when she saw your baits she admitted it being a beautiful piece of artwork. With that said, you’re doing great 😊
Thank you, I appreciate both of your support !
Agree with you.
Nice work i think my vote will be #1 !!
Thanks for watching & voting!
Jewelry work! This can only be done with a great love for the occupation.
Thank you, I appreciate it!

I'd like to see a rainbow trout Jointed swim bait!!!
Well, I may just happen to have something like that in the works. Stay tuned....
A Shad glide bait would be great for the next video
Will do, thanks for watching!
Since I'm an Irish sculptor who also likes making my own lures, I wouldn't mind seeing you sculpt a bass.
Thanks for commenting and watching!
I just wanted to take a moment and thank you for the content that I have enjoyed over the years. I have learned so much from you and others on youtube. I "borrow" many techniques from you, and I felt like I needed to acknowledge that. I hope that I can progress as fast as I have seen from you these last few years. Thank you for the entertainment and especially the lessons!
Thank you for taking the time to write such a great comment! I'm glad to hear that you find this channel useful and interesting. People like you inspire me to make more and better content. Best wishes on your lure making journey!
Try StarBond glues. They offer a kit which consist of thin, med, and thick. The packages come with several pin point tips and tip cleaner. I keep mine stored in the fridge while not in use. Also might like to try Great Planes Milled Fiberglass. Super strong instead of using baking soda. I have built model rc planes and this stuff became a game changer. Being disabled I have enjoyed your shows. Keep up the good work
Thanks for the tip! I've never heard of milled fiberglass; that sounds really interesting. I appreciate your comments and support!
Shad Glide Bait for sure..!!!
So far, glide bait is in the lead. Thanks for watching!
I vote Glidebait,
First time viewer, I enjoyed your video
Welcome to the channel and thank you for voting! Glad to have you here!
Amazing creation! I follow a few lure makers on RUclips and i appreciate all of them. You create the most unique lures and the level of detail is just stunning. Thank you for sharing :)
Thank you for your encouraging comments, I am glad to hear you find my work interesting.

Thank you, I appreciate it!
DAMN! The best vid yet, have to make this one...
Many thanks!
*Great item. First cast out of the package caught a nice bass. Pulls smooth in the water and sets up nicely immediately upon retrieval. Worth adding to your tackle box.*
Thanks?! I appreciate you watching!
Excellent lure! I would use it in a heart beat. Your craftsmanship is getting better with every creation. Can’t wait for the shad glide bait….
Thanks, I hope you like it as much as this one!
Amazing! That's a real piece of artwork. I really enjoyed every second. Thanks for share. Greetings from Argentina.
Hello and thank you! Glad to have you here!
it was a really beautiful lure. I might end up using it as a keychain instead of fishing.
It's funny you say that because I actually do have lures that I use as keychains!
Would definitely love to see you make that carved bass. It would look amazing as a backdrop in you vids. I especially like your use of different mediums. Keep up the creativity. 👍
Thank you for watching & commenting, I appreciate it!
Awesome work love the attention to detail, I'll go with option #2.
Thank you, I really appreciate your support!
This is exceptional wow
Thank you so much!
Love your work Zimmy. Always creative and something new to learn. Thanks for showing how to make the bones. Next one I vote for a Shad GlideBait but do a wooden bass sculpture too in the near future please.
Thank you for watching and for voting! I appreciate your support!
Really cool improvement! I agree. Shad Glide bait.

seems like safety wire (lockwire) and gundam sprues can come in handy, very much enjoyed the vid

Istimewa👏👍
Thank you!
Beautiful,,awesome
Many thanks!
Hey, Mike. I don't think I'm patient enough to make a bait like this, but I greatly admire the ingenuity, creativity, and attention to detail you amply demonstrated here. Hope this innovative lure catches lots of mountain trout for you!
As for the "popularity contest," I'm currently making a 9" saltwater glidebait, and I'm fascinated by this type of lure. So I vote for Option #2. Thanks.
I really appreciate your support! I do share your love for glide baits; thanks for your vote!
Amazing ... nice video man
Thanks a lot! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Wow
Awesome
True ART
Thank you!
AWESOME!!!😀😀😀😀
Thanks!
That was so creative dude, congratulations great video .
Thanks a lot! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Dude your awesome so creative thanks for sharing!
Thank you very much!
That was amazing to watch. I was considering doing a cnc lure of some sort and couldn't take my eyes off this.
Go for it! Thanks for watching!
@@zimmtex Not sure, but I think software can take a 3d lure in a file and insert a hollow object that would simulate an air bladder. Have the printer print the lure and just not fill in the air bladder with plastic. then you could drill on the bottom, insert weights and epoxy them in.
Dude truly an amazing "how to do video"!! I'm gonna buy the stuff tomorrow!!
Glad I could help!
creative crazy lure :D
Thank you!
Brilliant concept.
Thanks!
Shad Glide would sick
Thanks!
Awesome work!
Thank you!

It’d be awesome to see you build the bass sculpture.
Thanks, I appreciate your vote!
Nice video. Looking to get out and make some more fishing videos soon. 🎣🐟
Thanks! Spring is upon us for sure!
Great lure like always.
I d like to see Option 2
Thank you, I appreciate the visit & comment!
Since gliders are my favourite to fish with the shad gets my vote
Excellent, thank you!
Cool !!!
Thanks!
Awesome lure! I'd love to see the bass carving video.
Thank you!
Awesome job! Im a life-long fly tyer, but my 14 year old's losing hard baits left and right so Ive been hand carving some for him. Even with my arts background, you can only do so much hand painting a piece of wood. Ive been checking out some lure making videos and after seeing this, I will watch more of yours. Great job!
Glad to hear from a fellow lure maker. Thank you for watching.
@@zimmtex FOr sure, great vids. Can you recommend an airbrush and compressor setup for someone with no experience? lol Thinking of going to the next step.
@@duanevigue1603 I started with a Master airbrush and a pancake compressor from the hardware store. You can check out links to the products I use on my website (linked in the description).
GREAT Content dude, Nice information. AWESOME !!
Im from Indonesiaa hallo Mantabb
Glad you enjoy it! Thank you for stopping by and for watching!
Like the bass carving idea, thanks for posting, was wondering where you went.
Thank you for watching! I've just had a lot of stuff going on at work & home. I'm always working on lures when I can.
I like marling baits channel but you on the other hand make your lures more unique when it comes to style and the lure itself. I give you prompts!!
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoy my builds!
Absolutely beautiful work! I am amazed at your craftsmanship, I truly appreciate what you do and hope some how I can replicate it on my own! Thank you!
Thank you very much! Best of luck to you on your lure making journey!
Bieautiful work's
Thank you!
Great lure, would love to see a bass sculpture.
Thank you, I appreciate your vote & support!
Beautiful work. Would love to see the carved bass. Thanks
Thank you for watching and voting!
Wooow great Job! A crankbait would be nice to see :).
Thank you!
monsieur bonjour , travail d orfèvre moi aussi je les fabriquent moi même mais les vôtres sont des leurres de bijoutier respect monsieur , bravo !!
Thank you very much for your support!
I would love to see you make some of the old metal lipped lures. I.e. bombers and especially the hellbender.
That's a great idea, I'll put it on my list!
Came here from your short. You got me! Subbed
Welcome aboard! Thanks for letting me know; I just recently started making shorts.
@@zimmtex well it worked. It was a good short in itself but it really made me want to watch the full thing. I watch marling and lots of fishing vids, but I haven't seen your vids before that short. Good luck.
bass sculpture!!!
Right on, thank you!
NICE
Thanks!
I love your work! Maybe the Shad glide for the next one. I’m having difficulty describing my idea for future builds. First a lure that lays on its side with an up and down motion instead of side to side. Maybe mimicking an injured baitfish on the fall or slow retrieve.
Also employ this up and down motion to mimic a flatfish like a small flounder.
Have not seen any bait makers intentionally make a lure with a “dolphin-like” tail action.
Thank you, great suggestion! I appreciate your support!
Meus parabéns esta isca artificial artesanal ficou show de bola.
Thank you very much!
Hey man, love your stuff had this playing as i'm working on my next vid. I think you should go for the bass sculpture, mainly because its similar to what i'm working on haha keep up the good content man!
Thank you, sounds fun!
Glide bait please. Maybe one with a tail lip for further gliding. Would love to see that. Keep up the good work
Thanks for your input and for watching!
You can paint the bones with some red like the the lower part it will be great
Great idea! Thanks for sharing!
esta precioso
Thank you!
Another great video. Where can I find the screw eyes you use? I don't see them listed on your website. I am looking for 5mm saltwater kind. TIA
Thank you! I actually make my own twist wire eyes from stainless steel lock wire.
Option 2 😉
Thanks!
Using model scraps is cool and all, but you need to make a mold for your bone pattern as well.
This resin makes an excellent bone material!
Option 1. What would be cool, if you could somehow imitate Storms self tuning line tie concept.
Thanks for your comment and vote!
Привет Мастеру благодарю за видео саветы спасиба...,,,👍👍👍
Thank you for watching!
Are these Split shot weights lead? Im looking for something like this with tungsten hope you know what i mean.
Yes, I am using lead split shot for this lure.
Looks amazing love the content. I tinker around with baits myself and been debating on trying this lure. I do have a question? How stable is this lure if you burn it in like reeling it in fast?
This one is honestly not incredibly stable at faster speeds. I think it could use a larger air pocket. One of those trial and error things. It does fine at slower speeds. Sometime you just gotta fish a lure the way it wants to be fished.
@zimmtex yeah, that is the truth. Keep up the awsome work love videos buddy.
Bass sculpter would be some else
I appreciate your input!
choice 2
Thanks!
