    The thing that I loved the most about this movie was how Tarantino portrayed Sharon Tate as an actual human being rather than as a plot device or as just the victim of the Manson's family killing spree. I was worried that Tarantino was going to center the whole movie around that but he did an excellent job at really making this a love letter for the Silver Age of Cinema

      how come everyones bitching online about her role then? Specifically, it seems feminists are the least pleased. Something to do with her not having much dialogue.

    • @MartialArtsCat101
      @MartialArtsCat101 4 года назад +160

      thomas johnson The movie expects you to already know about the manson cult and the murder of sharon tate - so without any of that context all of her scenes seem disjointed from the plot if not entirely meaningless. That’s one of the biggest critiques I have seen so far - it’s not because she has so little dialogue that’s the problem, it’s that her entire role doesn’t really make any sense without knowing who she was irl. Otherwise she was just another actress with plenty of feet shots and not exactly a multifaceted character.

    • @merlinho0t
      @merlinho0t 4 года назад +24

      thomas johnson it’s probably the same feminists that always try to find something to complain about in tarantino movies, even though it’s clearly obvious Sharon Tate was suppose to be the heart of this film

    When I first saw the movie I thought to myself "She doesn't really have much of a role and there's not much of a point to her scenes" then I watched it a 2nd time and then I realized that she was actually the heart and soul of the film. Every time she's on screen she just lifts the film with so much positivity and sweetness that it's impossible not to like her. I'm really glad Tarantino showed her as an aspiring young actress with so much potential and not just a Manson Victim.

      I mean, the movie despite being Leo and Brad's character'd being the main focus, the story revolves and falls to the Manson murder incident (with a plot twist) which makes Sharon's part in the film important. You see a part of her being just an actress, aspiring to be great and just enjoying life, it gives you a sense of anxiety and worry as you already know what's about to happen (if you haven't seen the plot twist yet) especially when her husband met Charlie Manson himself, Cliff Booth going to Spahn Ranch and we see the hippies, etc. the twist in the end just makes you glad that the hippies went for Rick's property instead of Sharon's and we see them die in the most satisfyingly horrifying way and brings closure to what Rick and Cliff's role to the story actually is.

(in this world, i mean). watching her be so kind was building some serious tension in my mind, because i expected her to die a gruesome death.

    watched all of Sharon Tate's movies and Margot brought alot of innocence to the Role Of Sharon Tate. I liked Valley Of The Dolls and Sharon Tate did work with Bruce Lee yes the actual Bruce Lee in Wrecking Crew it was a low budget movie and Bruce Lee went to her funeral the real Sharon Tate's funeral. Margot Robbie should have been nominated for Best Supporting Actress in this movie and she was nominated for I Tonya, Bombshell, and I hope Margot wins an oscar. Tarantino is a master at rendering the atmosphere of the 60s and 70s. He knows how to provoke memories 100%. I only just noticed the sadly ironic song at the end of the clip by the Rolling Stones ‘We’re outta time’ just as the narrator explains Sharon is pregnant and uncomfortable during the hottest days of summer, early August 1969. I wished the fantasy twist that Tarantino cleverly created around the real life stars like Sharon Tate and the Manson family of psychos wasn’t fantasy. It would take away the horrific news I heard back in the day as a child. For me 1969 was a very strange and disturbing year for a 5 year old. It was the first time I realised people could die, Vietnam news bulletins brought that home. I saw drug addicts on my street for the first time. Then I heard pop stars were dying and didn’t understand how and why. Then incredible things happened like the Moon landing, that spooked me out 😂 then more death and misery this time at a pop concert (Altamont, I later found out) just in time for Christmas to see the crazy 1960s out with a bang 😢
