I'm sure this is how I lost my job at 52. I really didn't do myself any sort of justice when we were all having to reapply for our own jobs when redundancies loomed. Thanks for sharing this Bev. Seems to me even the best employers don't get it. Ahhh the Predator effect - I get that when I can't find something. I can be looking right at it and can't see it

Sorry you lost your job because of menopause. Sadly it’s a common story Tracey. However mysterious ways and all that. Maybe it was meant to open you up to new things xxx🥰

@@BevThorogood Yes at the time it felt like the bottom fell out of my world but actually - it really did open up early retirement and a load of fun stuff :)

Four and half years ago when we moved to a new house, I felt all these crazy symptoms that would indicate a sort of stroke but not quite. It was the pandemic year, I spoke to NHS online and they sent an ambulance, the paramedics assessed me and thought I was better off going to the hospital and checked over properly as they were concerned that as I was too young to be having a stroke given my healthy lifestyle (45 yrs old). I was admitted in a cardiac unit and all the tests done; ECG, ultrasound, MRI scan and blood tests. My consultant did not find any reason as to why I was feeling the way I was and had the symptoms I had and was discharged since my results came up fine. It was only during my research in the years that followed that I realised I was peri menopausal and those symptoms came back more acute, heart palpitations, skin crawling, extreme fatigue, brain fog and so much more. I thought that your consultant had a much more holistic approach to understanding your symptoms and their mind did go to menopause (I don’t know how old you were at the time) whilst in my case they didn’t think of that because I was still menstruating. Now at 49 I am 9 months without a period so menopause is just round the corner but health care professionals have a compartmentalised approach to medicine and were therefore unable to connect the dots!

Yes I was lucky. I was 50 and still having very regular periods.
