- Digital photography is very convenient but we often end up with thousands of images on our computers and none of them gracing the walls of our home. Here's a video on how to turn some of those great images into beautiful distressed canvas prints for only a few dollars each.

The tip about wetting the back of the paper before applying it is very good advise for easing the bubbles out of the paper (as opposed to applying it dry and attempting to smooth them out after it is applied.)
Can't wait to give this a try! I have everything ready except having the copy made on a laser printer. Thanks for a simple, clear tutorial!
Don't forget to flip /mirror your image before printing!
i think that's only needed if you have any lettering in the photo. cheers
have seen many transfer videos, but this is the best so far....so very well explained and to the point
I finally found the right video I wanted to follow for my upcoming craft project. Thanks.. Great video by the way.
Thank you so much for this fantastic instruction video !!! I had no idea something like this could be done, at home, so easily !!
SHUT UP!!! That is absolutely ingenious! You have changed my life! My dear you are........ awesome!!!!!!!!!!
Easy and straight to the point. I enjoyed this. Thank your for this lovely tutorial.
Very good clear instructions. This method is great for collages or as a base for a painting.
Your method seems to be a lot easier to do. Your video was excellent. Thank You!
REALLY helpful! I have been looking for this exact information :) thank you
Love this video! Thank you so much for the tutorial. :)
Thanks, I had no idea you could do this. I use web images a lot to do portraits.
Thank you so much! I'm a photographer and was looking to sell canvases. Was going to put my work online & have them made for people but now I can make my own 8x10's for cheaper so I can sell them for less, Thanks!
Great idea. Thanks for sharing this.
Thank you - I love YOUR method - after watching others. I may use a small roller when applying the print to the gel, what do you think?
wow thats a really cool process...starts out with 2 little girls and ends with a little boy climbing a tree. haha
Lol! I thought it was just my eyes playing tricks on me. Glad I wasnt alone.
zhaawanodese 😂
zhaawanodese hahHHAhahahaa
I noticed that also haha
Thats the magic !!
I love this and will be sure to try it at home
Perfect detailed video for beginners to art
This is inspiring. Thank you!
great tutorial, for all the comments that say printing on canvas is more easier, think about the cost and then u get the answer why this method was soo coooolll...
You are my current favorite person on the planet. Wow...
I have a glossy varnish spray I use on my paintings, you could probably use that after to give it some shiny and protect it from dirt
I'll try this though
thats so cool! way better than others
Just what i was looking for!
Can't wait to try it!
Great video but can you tell me after you have rubbed the paper do you giv it another coat of the medium then that is it finished?
l love it thank u .wich kind of canvas do use is it the same for drawing .thank u again
Thanks for this video! I want to go over a canvas (am bored with the mass produced print that's on it). Do I have to treat the surface with something before I try transferring a photo to it? I'm going to try painting and photo transfer on the same canvas. Just want to know if I have to start with a clean "virgin" canvas or can I recycle the one I'm bored with. Thanks!
Wow thanks a lot! Ill try this!😘
Thanks for sharing. This is the type of project I've been looking for. I'm excited to do see my results.
Awesome hopefully i can do memorial of my mom with her favorite flowers there red roses and my dad in his bronco hat and jersey surround by his favorite eagle's so i can hang up on my walls memories wall of them
@@tammiesucese4457 what is the stuff you need want to make sure I get the right stuff especially the glue
Ours didn't quite turn out like hers. It still has quite a bit of paper on the print. If I rub harder or spray more water, it just wants to take the original print off. Going to try just applying a top clear coat to possibly remove the paper hazing.
What is the reason for sprinkling the water behind the photo
before gluing it to the canvas?
i was thinking the same thing just print on a canvas and frame it and it will last longer too... however is it nice to know about other options
Can use modeling paste for this project?
Is it possible to substitute the gel medium to mode podge? Thank you
When ink gets wet it runs. Laser printers use a plastic like power that is melted onto the paper and will not get ruined when wet.
awesome madam .............good job which material need to that frame
That is awesome!!!
What happens if you use a thinker paper? Will it be messy?
Perfect - As we are selling canvas prints, we like to see such efforts! :)
Hi, I wanna knoe if the base is acrilyc paint, cause don t skpeak so well in english, thank youuu, greetings from Asuncion Paraguay
aw so motherly what a sweetheart
Can you apply the gel medium over the finished product to add some texture to it?
could i use normal glue
can i use regular glue instead of gel medium? can't find one...
Does it matter which material canvas you are using? Are there different Acrylic Gels for different canvas materials? Thank you.
That is an excellent video...but you are giving away the illustrator tricks of our magic...lol....well you did an excellent job and I am positive 1000s of people will love it. geesh now my client knows how I did it...lol
Instead of acrylic medium can I use mod pod right throughout?
Where did you get the gel medium.
I have to think about how I can reverse the copy on the printer to the faces wont be backwards
THANK YOU!!! Excellent idea. -C
I cant find this gel Where is this gel ?
thank you dear ...fantastic
ok, so I have to cover the photo first with gel, let it dry and then spray the photo with water at the back so that the color will not scatter in the towel?
Can i just use white wall painting to replace the glue?
I Love this project ")
would mod podge work?
Not mentioned whether the photo must be flopped (mirror image) first, so that it won't come out backwards on the impression. Why not?
can we paint after the picture is transferred????
Is the canvas gesso before transfer
can I use normal paper glue?
Where can I get pics made up to do this kind of work thank you very much
we can use a4?
Is that gel Mod Podge?
where can i buy gel medium?
Is it okay to use digital photo prints?
Clever girl! :)
I really want to do this
how long we have wait to take d paper off??
HAHAHA.... Cool Magic... Pasted a photo of two little girls, peeled the paper off leaving a little boy climbing on a tree.. Good to know that someone else below has noticed that. haha
No, laser is melted plastics (sort of)
Very nice!
Liquitex is the brand of the product. Michaels and JoAnn's carry it here in Pittsburgh. It can be found where the oil/acrylic based painted are located.
what kind of paper is it?
When transfere it lose its color or rrsolution
Coool!!! Thanks.
Will this work with Mod-Podge?
yes good question Leeah, would Mod Podge work?
I was thinking the same, why not use modge lodge?
Veramente molto utile e interessante, grazie
can i just paste it?
Will it look like a painting or a photo?
I dont want the photo tp cover the whole canvas so am i able to paint the canvas before putting on the photo or will that effect the transfer?
Yes. It will look great!
Do you wait for the matte to dry before you put the imagine on? Or do you want that still wet?
You do it while the Gel Medium is STILL WET! What you want to do is use the foam brush to apply the Gel Medium in clean even strokes covering the entire surface of the canvas. You want to do this quickly and cleanly to ensure that the Gel Medium is still wet, and has not begun to dry or tack up prior to placing the image with your photo printed on it.
(I know this comment is a year old, but I figured I would answer for any future viewers who have the same question as you had.)
🌹🌹🌹❤️🌹🌹🌹thanks. Very very very nice
great video, thank you! I order my photo prints at a store and they use thick photo paper...can you still transfer the image from it? is there anything I have to do different?
oh and what's up with that laser printing when can I get that done??
Thanks!! good.
i love this video, im going to make some of this for now only christmas gifts but i m gonna make some for my house. save me a 130 dollars from the other guys. lol.
flot og smart lavet ser godt ud
Great!!!
amazing :D
Similar technique as transferring to wood block. Do you need to seal it when it's done? Like with Mod Podge or something?
what is a lazer printer ?can i use a normal printer ? pls answer
It has to be laser because regular printers use water soluble inks; so when making your project, the image won't become a smudge.
Cant we just glue the picture to the canvas?
Does the acrylic medium have another name?
Just in case they dont know it by that name at the store
It's the same that ModPodge?
+Sebastian Sarmiento yeah I need to know too, does it work the same
+Sebastian Sarmiento if you go to an art supplies store, they will know what you're talking about
i really thank to you
Can I just use gesso instead of matte gel acrylic medium?
Gesso works fine for B/W picture. I didn't try for full-colour photo. :)
Okay I will try thanks heaps
I tried it 3 times and is not working... I peal the paper out but after is dry it looks white, the photo is not clear... as there is a lot more paper to peal out but I cannot peal more as I will damage the photo... what am I doing wrong?
You need to seal it in the end with a layer of clear glue, wax or paint.
Sometimes you need to wet, rub, let dry for about an hour or so then repeat until all paper is off.
oh ok thank you :)
