- Dying Light 2's Parkour Update is INSANE. This has improved the game by a lot for me personally. It's still not perfect, since there are some weird things happening with the momentum and big drops. But we'll get there. Soon.

Sick parkour run. The billboard slide speed is actually dependent on your fall speed, so if you're falling quick you just zip down it, its sick.

I love the slide jump after this update, it's great. Also I use the slide move all the time and the animation is satisfying now. Epic video, subbed.

For me, Momentum, physics and ragdoll/combat physics are my top 3 changes. We got close with the last couple updates, but not quite there yet.
How do u do that move with the knife? Where u stop ur self from sliding down a wall!

@@aybysyk Ragdolls and combat physics definitely need refining. The gore is better than DL1 objectively speaking, but the reactivity of the hits is just not there. I feel like the parkour physics are better now with the exception of momentum. The constant isn't too high to make it feel floaty, and it isn't too low to the point the terrain doesn't match with it.
The new parkour is amazing, but sometimes I feel like it’s too amazing. Chases don’t last long enough to be frantic or fun atm and I feel like if they made them much more of a threat and more aggressive then nighttime chases would be a mix of terrifying and fun at the same time
Yea it needs to be better for chases since I can evade without using hook/glider easily. Volatile AI for searching and investigation is decent though.

That made me laugh. That channel was responsible for spoiling Days Gone's ending through a thumbnail of all things for me, and I'm still pissed about it. Glad someone else feels the same way in terms of those playthroughs.
But yea I hadn't thought about doing actual playthroughs since I can't really upload that frequently. But that is an interesting idea regardless. I'll think about it for sure.

The new parkour and night is amazing. I honestly have more fun free roaming DL2 nowadays even though I like the first game more.
But I have spent 60 hours in the old version of DL2. I explored nearly everything the game had to offer and beat the games story way before the new updates came out.
Now, there is no care or tension for me playing the story and exploring the world because I know the VNC tower is boring. I know the games ending isn't worth the hours I sunk in, and I know the answer to every twist and mystery.
Paired with Tencent and the new "Dying Light points," I run around the amazingly built world, looking better than ever with the new filters, and it just feels empty now.
This is the result of fixing the game long after release. Only new players will experience this game how it was meant to be.
I agree. I've been playing since launch and all this is underwhelming now.
Parkour update felt great when it came out though, because that's the kinda movement we were expecting it to have anyway. Same for the Nights update, although again.. should've been in since launch. I don't know who thought static volatiles would be a good idea, but yea..
However, no matter the number of fixes, sadly nothing will fix the terrible story or the empty world.
I picked up the game recently and I'm honestly so glad I didn't start playing at release.
This is probably one of the best updates techland has ever gave us in dl2 , but the momentum still kinda needs some work but its still rly fun and they need to make the ledge swing carry the momentum too bc they didn't do nothing abt that. Some of the animations look like the e3 one which is so fire with the headbobbing thing when running and dashing is js so cool.
You can make headbobbing more by reducing it to 0

Problem about the ledge swing is that you grab onto the ledge and then press the button to swing so you lose momentum the second you grab the ledge
i dont like the fact that we can now turn around in mid air like in old CS 1.6 , its just stupid 🤣🤣

dunno if youve ever seen this or if it was in the game before, but if u slide on the edge of a vent perfectly, you will get a short but fast zip its pretty cool

@@aybysyk idk, ive gptten ot a cople times, but if u slide on the ege of a vent at the right spot then u will get a sudden boost but then go bqck tp normal

The gravity feels like someone is pulling you down by your ankle, not like real gravity
Yea it is weird. You notice it when you drop from large heights. It doesn't feel like "real" physics in the same way that DL1 had, although it had a higher gravity. Hopefully this was just a patchwork solution and they implement something that feels much more organic.

Now cam definitely say this game has comparable or better parkour than mirror's edge only thing this game needs is a front flip and it will be perfect
It still has some momentum and simulated physics issues, but it's definitely a massive improvement to what we had.
I don’t know, coming from someone that actually does freerunning in real life, I prefer mirrors edge. This is too far fetched and exaggerated
@@Joshuasteggalsmovement the wall runs in this game are definitely exaggerated and maybe the distance and height on some of the jumps might be unrealistic but nothing a few mods can't fix
are u using a fov slider mod? if yes could u give me the link
Extra fov doesn't need a mod. You can just edit your video settings file. It's the same process as it was for DL1, look up a tutorial.
I hate how wall running doesn't give u a good boost anymore and jump pads are kinda random like it feels like some of them make u go higher than others outside of the color, vaulting is weird too vault jumps are harder now
Hold down the jump key on the pads, that makes you go higher

I think pads work that way on Physical mode. I haven't tested on assisted.
Not sure about wallrunning since I always slide jump or dash before a wallrun so I always get a speed boost.
@aybysyk it doesn't change anything on each mode, if you look all it changes is the simple stuff like auto ledge grab and stuff
I just checked. What I said is true for pads on both modes. On assisted you go only slightly higher if you hold jump down. On physical, the difference is massive, almost a 2x difference. Try it out.

@@aybysyk That's crazy. I can't replicate. Is there something in the game that can increase your speed? In the first few seconds of the video, I can't do that wall climb to jump on the ledge or get a sudden burst of speed that quick. After leaping there just isn't much space between the vent and AC thing.
Trying to replicate to practice to get better at parkour 😅

The sudden burst of speed on the vent's wall in the first few seconds is because I did a Far jump off of the pipe. Dart and afterboost can also give you speed although you don't need to jump off of anything with them.
It's doable without any speed boost moves, just need to time your run on the wall to extend until the very end.

Hard to pick just one tbh. I'd say any track by M|O|O|N or Carpenter Brut would be fitting. I particularly like Hydrogen and Paris in HLM.
As for weapons, I mean all of them lol. Looks like they're adding guns to the next DLC so hey, might as well go wild with some of the unique weapons in HLM too. We already have baseball bats and knives.
@aybysyk personally, my top two favorite Hlm songs would be "knock knock" and "she swallowed burning coals" but a weapon that they should add that would be some what unique in my opinion would be something similar to "Jacket's piece" from the payday DLC he is in or maybe just a plain old baseball bat with a colorful 80's palm tree design on it

If you're on PC, you can edit the ExtraGameFov parameter in the video settings file in the Documents folder.
There should be a tutorial for DL1, it's the same process here.

I mean there's a bit of a swing. But yea it's a habit to spend as little time on the monkey bars because they used to kill your momentum.

The parkour has always been this way where tf you been at? 😂
It's never been like this before the update. It was never this fast paced between different moves, or as fluid. It never offered this level of midair movement. And worse, it was plain weird and floaty.

Parkour is awesome just much more abusable than in DL1, and the AI cannot compensate
Abusing the mechanics is what makes it so much fun. Also it checks out because of lore reasons too.
