Thank you for watching! ❤️ 😊
I enjoy every vlog everytime that notification bell goes off keep it up can't wait to see what's in store next 👍
This is fake. That gun has casting seams all down the middle of the "barrel" and the grip. And the crusty stuff you're hammering off (and if that were a real firearm, you wouldn't be hammering that stuff off for fear of damaging the firearm, you'd soak it in some kind of solution) is metallic in sheen, so it would catch the magnet.
You fabricated this toy into a crusty mess, then threw it in the water where you "found" it magnet-fishing, and it IS a toy. It isn't a real firearm.
Don't lie to people for views and ad revenue. That's not cool, dude.
Also, when you begin to grind at the thing, you can EASILY TELL that the cylinder is part of the main body; it's all one piece.
That's a pewter toy. You added powdered steel to the crusty stuff you encrusted that toy with, so it would catch the magnet. Because pewter doesn't magnetise, and that is CLEARLY pewter.
Try soaking things in vinegar for a couple days to dissolve the rust instead of using force.
I'm going to say that is a toy gun because it looks like the gun was made in two parts which you can see with the seam and then screwed together and the cylinder doesn't look like it is made to move. Its still a nice find and possibly from the 50s, too bad the barrel broke. Oh well, you live you learn. Great video, hope to see you do more.
it definitely is a toy gun.
Yeah
That chisel had my anxiety going😂
I think a wire brush attached to a drill or grinder would do a better job instead of the hammer and pick and maybe not break it!
I'm curious as to why you didn't do the electrolysis thing (is that what it's called?) I honestly have no idea about any of this, genuinely curious ❤️
Wouldn't it be gentler to use electrolysis?
Tyler, have you ever watched Rusty Restore? it might give you some ideas for removing the crude without damaging fragile parts. I know it was a toy gun but still a super cool find and probably from the 60s or 70s Keep up the good work. ✌
I remember when you caught that. Wonder if soaking it in mineral oil first would have made it easier to clean
Interesting but not really a restoration. 😅
Take a dry ice blaster
Good job Tyler
I wonder if a ultrasonic cleaner machine would work on the gun or other items
I’m already getting so hyped
Hey Tyler here's an idea that I have used on some old rusted tools that I found with my metal detector do a baking soda paste then soaking them in apple cider vinegar or just some CLR.
I remember when you pulled it out the water 😅. Great job 😊
Beautiful restoration
Brass hammer bud, brass hammer to remove the oxidation scale layer and a sharp brass punch (won’t harm the surface) to get in the corners and hidden areas 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Im so glad these videos are back. ❤ this one didn't go as well as planned but i still enjoyed watching 💗 its going to look great on your shelf.
Yep it will look good on his shelf
What a pity breaking off those parts 😢 might I suggest that you use an old chisel and go length ways down the piece that should clean the project but not bang down on it from above and breaking the more thinner weeker parts that the rust had already caused the project to be very frail try that and see how it works out for you
Its so satisfying watching the rust ping off💗
When you 1st started hammering on it I said "oh dude I wouldn't do that you're flirting with disaster" and boom..you broke the trigger guard!!🐢✌
Very satisfying 👍👍
A very cool find!!!
I am scrolling through the comments just hoping to see someone say, "Oh my goodness, I had one of those toys when I was a kid, but I dropped it into the river!" 💗
Great Job 🔥🔥nice Video. Thanks ❤❤
Oh god the barrel too!! Electrolysis only!!🐢✌
Fisher, I love your magnet fishing videos. I have been watching them a long time. The restoration videos scare me. Please consider your subscriber’s comments about soaking items first and soft brushes for cleaning.
Beautiful piece. Thank you so sharing
WoW! Great job!!
Love watching you restore some of your great finds from the depths of the waters. Would love to see more! Love watching these videos as well as the videos where you're actually fishing for your great finds!❤
Tyler, knowing my pistols as I do, I knew it was a 'cap' gun.
That's amazing! Good job!
These vids are so satisfying
Love the video. Love the design on the handle! Keep up these restoration videos 🥰
If you'd soaked it for a couple of days in vinegar most of that Russ would have came off by itself. What was left you could knock off with a wire brush. White vinegar is well known as a rust remover
My thoughts exactly
Good 👍 job but for something like that you should have brass brushes it will do less harm to the metal 😉
Great job Fisher!!! Glad it didn't go to the scrap yard!!! Gonna look great in your collection of super cool finds!!! Thank for letting us watch!!
Beautiful.
Nice clean up on this gun looks awesome
Wow! Tyler what an awesome job! Way to go!
Before you started on it you needed to put in a sonic bath with some detergent to help loosen the stuff off
I would soak it or try electrolocis before banging on it, something like that you don’t wanna be banging on as an antique
Looks like an antique toy cap gun from maybe the 50s but they made metal toy cap guns all the way through the 70s I think.
Yeah. Disappointed it turned out to be a toy, but still. Before I knew that the first thing that came to mind was, Al Capone. LOL. Way cool!!!
Very cool 😎 🔫
What a great find, exciting to see what’s all under the crud, the hook can get into narrow areas to show the detail, great job
You do any fine restoration, just a tip. I asked my dentist for her old tools, they can only use them for a short term, then they dispose of them. It’s great to have them when trying to get into narrow, detailed areas
I know it’s going to be a great video because the Fisher is on it! Great job on the gun Tyler!
Awesome job restoring the pistol 🔫. Its a shame that the barrel broke. That pistol is a beauty. You should a glass bead machine to get all the rust off. That pistol is very old, your so lucky to have found it. Have a great day my friend ❤️🙂⚘️.
The barrel broke because at one time in the video he actually squeezed it in his and proceeded to beat on the rest of the gun with a claw hammer and that huge pick.
My first thought was that looked like a cap gun I had as a child in the 50's.
There’s gotta be some type of glue you could use glued back on then sand off the residue when it’s dried
I've been waiting for you to do another restoration❤❤😊 don't wait so long the next time
you did an amazing job on restoring that gun. it looks cool.
Yeah, that's a toy gun. Still, it was a cool find. 😎👍
That is why you soak the gun in apple cider vinegar for a few days
Have you tried the reusable rust remover. It is awesome ...
I loved it! Even though I spent most of the video reassuring myself you wouldn’t have posted it if it was loaded and went off! But I was a little worried. Wonderful job Tyler, keep it up.
Same here. I am like. What if it is a jam and is loaded…..
Nice wall hanger
What a treasure 😍
I'd be interested if there's still a roll of caps inside....
You need one of those engraving tools, the tip vibrates at over 1,000 fine strokes per minute, you have better control over what comes off.
Awesome video it happens they weaken up with all that mud and rote on it
Cool stuff. Maybe a less heavy hammer ? I've screwed up lots with a too heavy hammer.
Wow you did a great job on that gun!!!
Sandblasting would be better.
Do you think if you would have just used electrolysis, none of it would have broken or split?
Should of soldered it back together but it's all good awesome video keep them coming
Well, there's always superglue to fix the snapped off parts. Must have been a sad day when the kid playing with it by the canal and it dropped in. It would look nice in a display case.
You made it look like a gun again. It looks nice. restored.
Very cool 1950's toy cap gun!! 🙂
"For Sale: Like new. Barely fired."
Excellent video, best thing I've seen in a long timd.
I would have used a much smaller and shaper pick with either an acrylic, rubber, or leather hammer, I'd have to base that last part on "feel" though.
Sure not to be a cool looking gun. I like the design on the handle. Good job Tyler.👍🏼👍🏼🍺
Tyler, why don't you start off by soaking in electrolytes bath then, using a wire wheel to grind off the crud then, fine taps with a plastic mallet. This way you won't destroy the piece by smashing it with a hammer. Obviously, this is a toy gun seen by the crease down the middle. Also, using a sharp pick and hammer puts scratches on it. And, you should cover you vise jaws with a thick layer of tape to cushion you piece. Again, destroying a fine collectable. I like watching you clean your finds but, you go about it in a wrong way. Look up ways to clean then go from there. It may be better in the outcome.
I think it might have been better if it was sand blasted with ground wallnut shells
Honestly, good thing it was just a toy lol
Man I was hoping and wishing it was gonna be a real one this time! Still a cool find and awesome cleanup job!👍
Tyler the things you call caltrops are from the civil war google them there is a nice story about them on there
Sorry, but I laughed way too hard at your oops!
Add on my cap gun the cylinder turned like on a real gun. To bad this was one of the cheaper ones. Good job cleaning it up, even so it's not something you see anymore. I doubt you could find a nice metal cap gun for your son to play with. I and my siblings good time playing cowboys and bad guys.
1950_60 kids cap gun.
Try soaking things like this in 5% vinegar, or CLR.
Good job on the pistol it looks great. I bet its really old
Oops you broke the gun me when it happened (nothing happened..........)😅😅😅😅
Tyler, did you know or think that it was a toy before you started the restoration? I only figured it out when you broke the trigger guard! I’m guessing not everyone did! Good video! Although it is a toy, it probably still has some value!❤❤
That looks like an old antique toy pistol
Red cider vinegar soak first, flake off what you can get, then electrolysis it.
Nice little toy gun there! Very old and some kid probably hated losing it!
What else is new dude, how ment more snafus are you gonna do to that revolver
Czeba było zrobić elektrolize a potem drobić lufe to tego rewolwera pozdrawiam serdecznie 🤔👍
This is exactly what not to do when restoring a firearm wow man
The first few seconds - you are a beast. I don't even want to see anything anymore.🤮🤮🤮
Sympa la trouvaille du aurait dû utiliser du vinaigre blanc
Looks like a kids' toy gun and has more rust than the titanic
How old do u think it is?
You should maybe sandblast it.
Hello ,, Next time ,, Sand blast ,, Like I do ,, And nothing breaks off ,, Your Welcome
That was just plain painful to watch
A great job and the damaged couldn't be helped. You need to display this for sure.
I saw the video where u got it
dude... ouch... two strikes breaking the trigger, and breaking the barrel.
