      This is fake. That gun has casting seams all down the middle of the "barrel" and the grip. And the crusty stuff you're hammering off (and if that were a real firearm, you wouldn't be hammering that stuff off for fear of damaging the firearm, you'd soak it in some kind of solution) is metallic in sheen, so it would catch the magnet.
      You fabricated this toy into a crusty mess, then threw it in the water where you "found" it magnet-fishing, and it IS a toy. It isn't a real firearm.
      Don't lie to people for views and ad revenue. That's not cool, dude.
      Also, when you begin to grind at the thing, you can EASILY TELL that the cylinder is part of the main body; it's all one piece.
      That's a pewter toy. You added powdered steel to the crusty stuff you encrusted that toy with, so it would catch the magnet. Because pewter doesn't magnetise, and that is CLEARLY pewter.

    Try soaking things in vinegar for a couple days to dissolve the rust instead of using force.

  • @Chaedron1
    @Chaedron1 11 месяцев назад +39

    I'm going to say that is a toy gun because it looks like the gun was made in two parts which you can see with the seam and then screwed together and the cylinder doesn't look like it is made to move. Its still a nice find and possibly from the 50s, too bad the barrel broke. Oh well, you live you learn. Great video, hope to see you do more.

    I think a wire brush attached to a drill or grinder would do a better job instead of the hammer and pick and maybe not break it!

    Tyler, have you ever watched Rusty Restore? it might give you some ideas for removing the crude without damaging fragile parts. I know it was a toy gun but still a super cool find and probably from the 60s or 70s Keep up the good work. ✌

    What a pity breaking off those parts 😢 might I suggest that you use an old chisel and go length ways down the piece that should clean the project but not bang down on it from above and breaking the more thinner weeker parts that the rust had already caused the project to be very frail try that and see how it works out for you

    If you'd soaked it for a couple of days in vinegar most of that Russ would have came off by itself. What was left you could knock off with a wire brush. White vinegar is well known as a rust remover

  • @stephenmartini5890
    @stephenmartini5890 7 месяцев назад

    Tyler, why don't you start off by soaking in electrolytes bath then, using a wire wheel to grind off the crud then, fine taps with a plastic mallet. This way you won't destroy the piece by smashing it with a hammer. Obviously, this is a toy gun seen by the crease down the middle. Also, using a sharp pick and hammer puts scratches on it. And, you should cover you vise jaws with a thick layer of tape to cushion you piece. Again, destroying a fine collectable. I like watching you clean your finds but, you go about it in a wrong way. Look up ways to clean then go from there. It may be better in the outcome.
