- Chili Cornbread Skillet Bake Casserole - One Pot Meal This dish combines two classic comfort foods in a divine one pot meal that is good enough for Sunday Dinner or fast enough for a weeknight. You can bake it in the oven or cook it on the stove top. It works great with leftover chili and in an emergency, you can use the canned stuff. You can also use any cornbread recipe. A package of cornbread muffin mix will work for the amount I made in the video. Don’t forget to take this recipe the next time you go camping. Remember to put God first! :)
Ingredients:
4 or 5 cups Chili
1 cup Self-Rising Cornmeal
1 tablespoon Honey
1 Egg
2 tablespoon Butter
3/4 cup Milk

My mamma used to make this cornbread and chili meal! So good.. We didn't know we were poor.. But we weren't really poor because we had love in our home and the love of the Lord on our side. .
That made me cry, it was Beautiful Thanks. We too were poor, 5 kids supported on a Carpenter's wages 1956. To make ends meet and have enough to eat, we had chickens, pigs, rabbits, milk cows, a garden. I remember getting up at 4:00AM to feed and milk before school, then again at night. When I got home from school my job was to feed and water so when Dad got home he only had to milk. Folks today don't know what living on a farm is like, there was no day off and no safety net like welfare, you worked or you went hungry "GOD Bless"

I use my pressure canner to can quarts of a chili base- once I open I add beans and more tomatoes. Can’t wait to make this, topped with cheese and sour cream. My church family keeps me going! So grateful.

I give thanks to our God for you and your ministry every morning. There have been so many times that I thought I was just at the brink of letting go. I was so ready and excited for 2021, then the polar express rolled in. Power was lost, my family was cold, and I couldn't do anything about it. I came to this page and we huddled around my cell phone to watch several episodes. It not only was what I needed, but what we all needed. Our God is an awesome God.

In my mouth i was so close to death i could not raise my head they were small angels 3 of them but all in white an i felt Gods Love ..when i woke you were on my tv talking about the Love of God...thank you for being there an radiating of Gods Love🙏🙏🙏
I love your recipes. I'm asking if you pray please pray for my son. We found out Friday my son has a congenital along with some other issues with his spine, he's only 23, but there is hope so please keep him in prayer. GOD IS good . If you have any low or no carb ropes that would be wonderful. We are cornbread eaters and all that good southern cooking. This is a big change. We can't have those things. So we have to find other good eats. Thank you for your prayers.

Yummy, one pot meal. I love it. Where I live in Canada, we're not having church due to covid, however some have live prayers in the morning and again at noon so you can still feel like your worshiping. Lots of prayers daily for a return to church services.
I hate the thought of someone being alone and lonely, reach out to a church for direction, there's something out there for everyone. 🙏

I love this meal recipe!! Nice meal for a cold snowy day. I just have to tell you I purchased your cookbook and was reading through it and got to the end and saw your Snow Cream recipe!! It brought back memories of when I was a young mother, my son was little and we always made Snow ice cream when we had a snowstorm. He loved it and we had such fun eating it. This looks good I'm from a very long line of good cooks minus desserts even the quicks one I blame the humidity it's a real thing here in Alabama, commenting. and I'm female thought I'd get a southern name. true we do have to watch out for those who aren't able, also so tough times don't last but tough people do, my situation hasn't changed much since 1982, once I thought it wasn't going to change Then someone said it will it cannot last forever maybe my "season will change I hope those who don't want it to see this change I have to give it to God he has to handle that I cannot I'm not that strong.

Back in 1978 a home health nurse, who came to see my Dad at the last of his life, told me how to use browned hamburger, can of tomato soup, corn and/or peas (whatever you like) mix it all up and put cornbread batter over it to cook. I never thought about using chili beans. I like this....will have to try it. Thank you from a newbie subscriber!😊

I've not had this version of this dish before, meaning made with chili, and with the cornbread baked on top. I'll have to try it.
The version I've had is pouring ground beef mixed in brown sugar or maple baked beans over the top of the cornbread (so it's a sweeter version I guess you'd say) and to me, it's super yummy.
I am going to double this recipe, use a Dutch oven and take it to our church potluck on Wednesday. Thank Becky and God Bless You.

This is so great! I invented this for myself when I was 17 and moved out into my first apartment I added peppers and corn to the chili and a little cheese on top of the cornbread baked it all in the oven and I called it my Tex-Mex casserole😂 makes me happy to see it here your cornbread looks a whole lot better than mine did I look forward to trying it your way :-)

I make homemade chili and I learned over the years that cornbread goes good with homemade chili. Now I can combine the two as one. never thought about it that way before looks delicious.

I love your channel my Grandma Walters made so many of the dishes you make. She had a recipe for what she called BUTTER PIE . it must have been a depression time recipe. I used to have that recipe a long time ago ,but i t got lost in my move to Texas . I know it had flower , canned milk , white sugar . and before it went in the oven you
Put a layer of sliced butter pieces on top. I was wondering if you'd ever heard of this recipe. I baked an Impossible pie, it turned out well , thank God. I was a bachelor up until 8 years ago ,so I had to cook for myself or go hungry.haha! I like to eat . I'm looking forward to making this chili corn bread, it looks Delicious! My mom used to make somethin similar. Soup bean pie. Its was soup beans with hamburger meat and some chili powder. Forgot all the ingredients but it was pretty much a mild chili with beans with cornbread topping.
