I visited this museum and saw this show when I was a kid back in the late 90s.
After the show Marvin pointed out we had a veteran in the audience who had fought in the battle of Tarawa. He was Japanese and fought against the Americans. He received a standing ovation. I always wondered what went through his mind getting applause from people who at one time he considered enemies. Powerful stuff.
I am 67 years old my dad was in w.w. 2 I can't imagine how they did it. Truely the BEST GENERATION!!! THANK you FRANK FROM MONTANA...
What commitment and what a way to honor our greatest generation. I'd love to shake his hand and thank him in person. My dad was a skipper in WW2 and Viet Nam. I can take my 23 year old so to this museum and say "This is what they did. This is why they'll never be forgotten".
I've been going to this incredible museum since I was a child, and I've seen some amazing changes/improvements over the years. I highly recommend visiting, if you have any interest in this type of history. Also, the city of Fredericksburg is a beautiful little town, with other interesting attractions, that also are worth seeing. My family owns 700 acres just outside of town, and this is truly a wonderful area to spend some time and simply go sightseeing...

Tom; man, you gotta do it… Marvin Schroeder is a card-carrying film industry armorer … he’s the one responsible for seeing that all these weapons are authentic in both appearance and methods of deployment, whether a Colt 1911 sidearm, the main gun on that Sherman tank, or a 105 mm artillery piece, or anything in between. Call ahead and tell them what you put in your comment, and when you’re coming, and to get that info to Marvin, because he’s going to want to meet you and shake your hand, and you’ll most likely get some VIP/behind the scenes encounters, plus, give yourself plenty of time because I suspect you two will have a lot to discuss.
My Father took me to this Museum 45 years ago. What a difference. I will now plan a trip to revisit thanks to TCR. Great job. Thanks so much.

I went there before Covid. Great place . One thing that stood out to me was. A K-Bar knife that has a handle made of plexiglass from a Japanese plane. Actually quite beautiful. What surprised me the most was that. We had just seen one at the World War II museum in New Orleans. Same story on the card. And I never took a picture at either museum.😂 Also the submarine out front. I first thought it was just the tower. Then when we left I saw it from a different angle. Very interesting display.
Haven't been in there since the 70's. looks like they've added a bit since then.

I remember the night mares and flashbacks my grandparents had. Wasn't a very pretty sight to be around.

In 2005 Fredericksburg hosted the 60th reunion of the Iwo Jima veterans. The weekend of the event we took our 80year old father. He was a 20year old combat veteran serving on an amphious landing craft (LSM 47). Until the day he passed away in 2010, he never stopped talking about what this trip meant to him. I gave the eulogy at his funeral. He died of cancer at the age of 85. Miss you Dad.
My god. What a difference between the greatest generation and today's. Today? This generation has high aspirations and high goals to tear down statues and put up utterly useless rainbow flags. Sorry friends. If we go to war today? Were pretty much fucked 🤬😡😠😡🤬🤯🤯🤯
