- Out for another speed run test going for my goal of 100mph with stock electronics. Got close with a PB or 96mph by data logger. Also running a set of 25 shore BSR foams which I trust much more at speed. At the end I found a parking lot which was kind of rough but had some cones set out. Unfortunately the ESC caught fire or smoked out...Could have been worse! This is the second ESC that I've been through in this truck so definitely going to soon upgrade. Thanks for watching!

I just got my infraction yesterday. Love to see your street bashing videos with this truck. I get to watch entertainment and learn from your mistakes. If my new truck went up in smoke I would be so upset.

I've been doing some off camera running with mine as well. Dropped in a 34T spool to pull some higher #'s. I almost bought a Ripple Killer a few days back. Thinking I better plop one in. I have different electronics on standby, but also wanted to see what I could get out of my stock stuff. My GRP GT's have been holding up good so far 👍. Hope the damage wasn't too bad Eric 😬. Thanks so much Rich!👊Yeah I tried a 34 tooth and it shut down the ESC Half way into the pass🤔Tried it several times running Turnigy Graphene packs. Dropped to a 30 tooth with BSR foams which are a larger diameter than GRP's and was able to pull a clean pass at 96. Somewhere in the middle I should be able to hit my goal but may just drop in a Max8 and call it!😬😂Fun fun bro!! Good luck on your runs!😎👊🤘🤘

@@RCDUDE81 Those 1450kv longer can motors are awsome(found in the Cen 1/6 scale truck). I'm using them with max6 in my Kraton, has torque for ages and can gear it up like crazy

Scary as hell! Sorry that happened, glad it wasn’t a battery or cause a melt down of everything. That was insane for stock esc, guess it felt it had done enough 😀

Sorry she blew but 96 stock is amazing. You're a great driver as well. This thing is a beast, can't wait to get one, I just have to figure out where in my small town I can get a speed run like that and not destroy it at the same time. I've done that to both my V3 Talion and my Granite BLX after you have dropped 200 in the Talion to bring it back you learn. Even the Granite cost a pretty penny to bring back. Totally worth it, I love speed.

Nice run! I hit 90.1 with stock electronics yesterday. The ESC kept shutting off on me though. I was using the S5 GRP. I wish they were a little taller. You can hear the body taking a beating in that parking lot.
ZacTastic wind down the shock collars a couple of mm to give a little more ride height, but make sure she sits level or a little nose down when loaded otherwise the air will get under
Jason Dearden I did that with mine for the parking lot sessions. You don’t get much out of these. I set it back down for speed runs lately. I did find I can raise the body up one set of holes on the mount. I am going to try that next time I go out parking lot drifting.

Well the issue was damage to the ESC with repeated over geared speed run attempts!👍Definitely needs an external cap pack!💪Got a Ripple Killer ready to go in now!

Thats awesome. I got my 2wd stampede doing 85 on 4s. Fast enough for me. You need upgraded radio for faster speeds in my opinion. 900 feet on stock Tqi radio just isn't enough. I don't know how xo1 doesn't offer upgraded radio

Ever thought of adding a fire wall between the ESC and the battery? Just some light tin with some foil with the shiny side away from the batteries? Nothing like a LIPO fire to really ruin your day...

Hate to see that smoke. That 96 is very impressive for stock electronics. Try the GRP S5 Slicks. The slicks drift great and last longer than the hoons.

Never mind, the point is to have fun. If i buy an rc hobby car and play with it like an rc toy, there is no point to do that. All the things brake sometime. I don't know the quality of ARMA electronics, but for sure all the things brake sometime, it's natural . So as long you can brake and replace, do that continiously.

Strange imo that the esc gets hotter than the motor on this truck? I've seen it several times in videos but even with fans, my motors are what usually get considerably hotter on every truck I own.
The foams are excellent and really impressive passes here. Sucker looks stable and straight as an arrow. Pretty amazing for a rtr $600 rig.
👍Looking forward to what you plan to do to upgrade electrics but sure enough for guys that don't push it this hard, stock is fine and powerful and it's hard to find a better looking vehicle.

Iv been seeing that a lot with arrma esc's bersting into flames and I'm sure they knew that when they put em on the market just one more reson on top of many other why not to buy an arrma thanks for the video and heads up
Well, as you can see in my other videos, I have hardly had problems with ESC's and the trucks are TANKS! I've just had a stream of bad luck with ESC's in this truck but mainly bc of my driving habits. Nearly 100mph out of a bone stock ESC and motor is pretty good IMO. No cap packs or anything. This truck isn't light either. This truck is a absolute thrill to drive and is designed so well. Engineering at it's best! Could it benefit from a better ESC? I think so but that's the fun in the hobby. Pushing limits and upgrading!😎💪💪🤘

Thanks bro!👊No the original ESC stopped working on the second run before I even did any speed runs. It's still stock for the truck blx I put back in it. The whole truck is stock except the pinion gear and foam tires. 90 is Killer with the speed gear!👌 I got 86 with the speed gear but was also running GRP's which are much smaller diameter than the stock tires or foams. 100mph since the truck is so heavy is going to be tough to hit without an ESC meltdown.😳A cap pack may help achieve it for sure though!👌
You think running the 16t will help with heat I just want to have fun drifting and not really speed runs I got a fan for the motor I’m going to install as well

Have you put a gyro in there? In the first minute it looks like the gyro is working just from a bit moving the car to show it
There is a gyro stock. I had it about 35%.

Wow, what was the ambient temps.? I smoked a motor yesterday, I've been experimenting with stuff that I already have around in my Summit, trying to make a setup that can easily swap back an forth between a brushed and brushless setup (a brushed motor just feels better to me for trailing). Last week when I was trying out the brushed setting on a Mamba X esc I pushed things a little too far messing around with steep inclines, lol and burned out one of the on board capacitors (since it seems like it still works, it isn't doing anything funny, and other escs I've burned out just stopped working altogether). Anyway, back to this weekend I was out trailing it with the stock 775 (maybe that was my problem, but right now that is all I have that can push this trucks weight and I'm still trying to decide if this is worth doing), I had temped it a couple of times throughout the run (honestly I thought this esc was going to blow smoke, since it had already partly done it), which were fine at 140s, 160s, and finally when the motor went, the highest reading I got was a whopping 289. And yet this esc is still kicking (it stayed in the 130s), maybe this thing is killing whatever I connect to it (or at least that is the concern, lol).

The only time I had a BLX 185 go up in smoke on me was when I had a short in the fan. But, mine was no where near that bad, that was a ton of smoke 😱
My BLX120 burned up in the Outcast 4s..Fan got a pebble stuck in it.. Stopped working and overheated lol

Yep. LiPos have made me respect the hell out of them. I've never had a problem, YET but I handle them very carefully. Really glad it was just the ESC. That sounds bad on my part but it could have been much worse and ruined a heck of a truck from what I can tell. Those things look impressive as hell. Back when I could handle one I would not be satisfied until I saw some good triple digit MPHs. I would probably want the Limitless because I feel with it setup correctly, it will scare the crap out of people. I've seen the videos of the guy that seemed to have the very first one and the things holding him back seem to be tires and other nitpicky things and when all that is sorted out, it will be insane.

Now, you more than likely voided out any warranty that might have been cover for any other parts due to your modification.
Not a modification just switched out for the exact same ESC. Not really worried about warranty on anything else anyway. Just wanted to finish my run!😁Luckily nothing else on the truck is harmed. Pulling out the ESC anyway for an upgraded one.😎👊💪💪🤘

I sent in the original which went out on the second run. That one is covered. This one is modified with different plugs so I'll have to eat that one!🤣👊🤘🤘

Cap pack is a pack of capacitors that hold energy to take load off the esc so this hopefully doesn't happen when you gear them so high

oh ok and what spur fear did you use for the combo?
@@alias6811 It was the stock spur with 2.5mill. weight center diff oil. I had to use one screw for the mount but it worked fine for one pass!

What was your gearing?
For the 96mph run? I think it was 27/46 with BSR foams.
@@RCDUDE81 oh wow i ran stock 27/46 stock tires with a ripple killer cap pack and it only hit 78mph
The BSR foams are larger in diameter than stock tires. Which will increase gear ratio too. You need good batteries too. I was using Turnigy Graphene packs.

Yeah I saw that!😳I think he hit a reflector that sent him sailing. This truck is extremely planted it seems. I did adjust from suspension for better "rake" to prevent blow over but I guess we'll see what happens next!
