I'm going to regret this request, but you should include those crashing noises in your videos more often. They capture an ambience that the visuals can't on their own. What you are able to do with the visuals is still great, though :)

As someone who deals with geophysics, I will make a criticism :). As it is, the simulations are not realistic. The reason is that the ground period is incredibly short. The ground in your simulations is incredibly strong (about 1100m/s Vs30) and these grounds cannot accelerate this much even in earthquakes of 8. My advice to you to make your simulations realistic:
Design all simulations for 220m/s Vs30. Because accelerations above 1g usually occur in these soils.
For example, in your simulations, the ground period is 0.1-0.15sec and there are soils with this period, but the accelerations are not realistic. In other words, such images do not occur in any earthquake. However, the period of a 220m/s alluvial soil is 0.75sec. So in your simulations, the displacement at 250cm/s ground speed will be 25cm-37.5cm. Also, sometimes 1.5g PGA corresponds to about 2.5g in the video. The only error is the period. If you take the ground period as 0.75sec, you will get 188cm displacement at 250cm/s ground speed.
Yes, 20cm displacement is possible at 0.15sec, but this is only possible in 1100 Vs30 soils and requires 1.4g PGA. This means that the earthquake should be at least 8.7 Mw, so these values are too much. However, a 7.5 earthquake can do this very easily in a 220m/s alluvium.
So the only thing missing is this,
    For 200cm/s ground velocity
You are making 20-30cm displacement in 0.15sec, it is possible but very unrealistic and only possible in earthquakes close to 9 Mw,
If you take an alluvial soil as a basis and choose 188cm displacement in 0.75sec, there will be much more appropriate and realistic simulations.
If you make it 0.75sec your tall buildings will collapse but it's worth it for nice simulations :). Or is it a good opportunity to learn a bit of civil engineering:) so that you can try even harder not to collapse the buildings.
I should also say that the Mercalli scale increases logarithmically most of the time.
    0.12g MMI 6
    0.25g MMI 7
    0.45g MMI 8
    0.75g MMI 9
    1.3g MMI 10
    1.6g MMI 11
    3.0g+ MMI 12
    Very nice simulations though :).
I think it will be much more beautiful if you do as I said:).

As I’m a single guy with disabilities, I get by using a combi microwave with oven and grill, an air fryer and a double induction hob.

i have a question tho: in 2019, i have experienced a 5.9 earthquake in Istanbul and not even a single item on my desk moved even a little bit. the shake was quite noticeable but was more like how your simulation depicted 4. is there any explanation for this? is the building so strong that it did not shae too much or something?
    thanks!

Usually what gets reported is the earthquakes 'magnitude', using the Richter scale or similar. These are about the earthquake itself.
The Mercalli scale used here is an 'intensity' scale, which is more about the effects on the environment.

    • @lamandula85
      @lamandula85 10 месяцев назад +2

From what I've read, the epicenter was in the sea and quite far from Istanbul, so it's normal that you felt just a light intensity.

The depth of an earthquake is an important factor as well. A 5.9 quake at 200 km depth is different from a 5.9 at 10 km depth
