If it would be possible to do a sit down interview conversation with John on a future visit that would be really something. He is such a character, had fantastic skill and seen such history in his line of work. Would be a nice touching conversation. Amazing Kirby was able to document the whole process with both Kent and Haste regardless!
I agree. Mr. Allison is in a unique position to further document the life and times of a master craftsman. I would like to see a 6 or 8 part documentary (about 30 min each) with Kirby interviewing John on coming up through the trades, life in London, the future of the profession, etc. Maybe each segment could be shot in a historically significant location - either to London or to John. This of course, if done properly, would be an expensive undertaking, but I would be willing to help fund it. I say Floris makes a limited run scent, chosen by John, exclusive to Mr. Allison's business, with the profits dedicated to the documentary. I would buy a bottle. I wish John a lot of joy in retirement. I enjoyed watching him on the past episodes of Mr. Allison's RUclips channel - he brought some joy to my life.
I agree with your idea, as John was tailoring during the last hayday of tailoring. As I do not foresee the tailoring trade returning to how it once was 50-100+ years ago, due to the advancements of technology in the larger garment industry. I do believe there will always be tailors, but in the larger picture they will become an ever so shrinking part of the market. And as many of these Master Craftsman, they made tailoring their life's work, starting off at a very young age. Preserving Johns story of tailoring would really help preserve the knowledge and history of tailoring, and could very well help to inspire others to look into taking up the trade.
Sad to see John go, but Terry and Suyamba are keeping the wit alive. Very excited to meet Steven in the next episode You should have a cuppa tea with John at some point
So sad that John is not there anymore, the three of them together were comedy gold. Terry must be feeling a little bit lost I would imagine after having John around as his partner and friend for so many years. You could see the real difficulty John was having trying to walk and stand so it was obviously time for him to hang up the tape measure. Enjoy your retirement sir. Sandstone is a great way to describe the colour of the suit, it's a fantastic colour. I was going to comment that you need to have a shirt made by Stephen and we get to see that happen next episode, can't wait see the end result.
@@cathydrumobich9045 As if Kirby's tastes aren't generally out of date already. Oops, sorry, I meant "traditional" 😂 But in reality it'll look fine as long as he's comfortable in it. A person uncomfortable in a "modern" style will look worse than a person comfortable in an "out of date" style.
I am so very sad that John is not there to be in this video and that he won’t be in subsequent videos - I’m glad we have the videos he was featured in. Perhaps you can interview John in his home one day soon.
Kirby, I love seeing the full shot of you walking in the birds-eye suit John made you in the beginning of this video. The reason I say full shot is you can really see how well proportioned the trousers are tailored. I find that today trousers are getting much skinnier, but these just look perfect! Gorgeous suit and perfectly tailored. Congrats!
Well done Kirby I love these guys and their team and of course the beautiful Suyamba . Shame about hearing about John's retirement . Love their banter with you.
I'm sorry to hear about John .him and Terry were just so funny with their banta feeding off each other will be sadly missed .amazing episode thankyou kirby 👏
Very sorry to hear John has retired but I wish him all the very best, he was such a unique gentleman. I still can't take my eyes off Sayumba's hair! She's so beautiful and has amazing hair!! Kirby, you look amazing in that suit! Another proper job achieved!!! Thank you for yet another amazing episode with these legends ❤
Just downloaded Shazam to find out what the music was! And it is indeed Opus 2 No 3. Which Shazam tells me is Piano Sonata No. 3 in C Major. And it's the first movement, Allegro con brio.
Love your content Kirby! Even as I’m wearing sweatpants and a hoodie 🤣. Would be excited to see more dedicated watch videos at some point as I’m sure you can assemble the right group to properly discuss the topic.
I'm certainly not belittling her skill or devaluing her abilities, but Suyamba is freaking **adorable** . Yes, she's pretty, but I really like her sense of humor and she's smart as whip. I don't want this to seem creepy. I have my wife and just stupidly happy with her. Besides, I'm old enough to be Suyamba's grandfather. Whoever her partner is is fortunate and I hope they are happy.
Kirby another excellent video. Sad to hear John has retired. As many many others have said in the comments a sit down interview with him would be a great way to pass a few hours. We all enjoy your videos in our own unique way be it with a drink, a cup of tea or perhaps with a cigar. Looking forward to the next video already.
It just occurred to me that by making these videos for his business Kirby has found a way to make his bespoke suits tax deductible. Now I enjoy the videos even more!
Hello, love your channel. My wife bought me the same DuPont lighter in the 1980’s for my birthday that you have also purchased. I had mine since it was sold in the store! Just saw a movie drama that I bought you might enjoy. It’s called The Outfitter and it takes place in a tailor shop in Chicago in the 1940’s. The entire film is shot inside the shop! Best Wishes to your successes! -michael
Kirby: Was disappointed to hear about John retiring. He was great in the last video series. Maybe you could do an interview series with him and get his perspective on bespoke and how styles have changed over the years. His knowledge and presentation of that knowledge were great in your Double Bespoke Commission series. It would be a shame for that knowledge to go unrecorded.
I hear this conversation on how great this sand color is and it brings me back to the funeral director episode with Nick Foulkes poking fun about Kirby celebrating the brown/grey color
KIrby, you've inspired me to go get my first(ish) nice suit. While it's not tailor-made, it is a dark grey Ted Baker that I'm going to have altered, too fingers crossed a perfect fit.
The look, cut, long jacket and long centre vent is almost pure 1960`s,my suits were that style but with two button fastening. From 16 to 21 I didn`t have an off the peg suit because they didn`t make them that way.
Kirby i have a question for you...well i have been watching and following almost all of your youtube shows alongwith Sartorial talks...Now when it came to recommending Sahakian to Bespoke...why did you prefer Henry Poole to Kent,Haste and Lachter...I thought you had great chemistry with John and others....and in fact i found these episodes of kent haste and lachter more informative and interesting....Your thoughts please mate
The jacket looks really nice but I just can't go with such large pants (both the linen as aswell as the bird's eye in the beginning of the video. I need pants on the slim side.
Similar to Kirby, i emphasize on the quality of the shirt. I invest on great quality fabrics, on highest quality natural materials such as silk, cotton, linen, cashmere, and so on. These shirts are not cheap, ranging from 700 USD for cotton to 1.5K USD for silk. Also, I buy from ultra luxury brands such as Stefano Ricci and Zilli, and the makers of those brands' luxury clothing.
Awww, so sad to hear John is retiring. He was an absolute legend and a proper “old school gent.” Enjoy your retirement good sir!

The Sahakians with John would be great, a more relaxed atmosphere to get John's stories flowing.

Loved when Kurby asked "so what do you think?" They both took a step back as if a new duo.
John will be missed. Part of tailoring passes into history. Be great to do a sit-down interview with him.
I feel like there’s a huge amount of wholesomeness in this video. I’m not one to comment usually but this just felt so unashamedly genuine.
This is what everything felt like in the 90s.
Kirby old boy, you simply must give your loyal viewers more Suyamba !!!

Such a charming and respectful relationship between them. They seem to be enjoying themselves, too. Brought a smile. Fabulous.
Bless you John, an honour to see a glimpse of your craft, rest well sir and hope to see you back at some point.
What a classic looking suit I love the higher lapel

Oh boy, coming back to Kent and Haste so soon, you're out for blood kirby and I am happy to give it. Love these guys!

Hopefully we get a video from Kirby where he gets to sit down and have a long conversation with John!
We're all very sad to hear John retire, but privileged to witness one of his last masterpieces that is the double bespoke commission!
I'm sorry to hear about John .him and Terry were just so funny with their banta feeding off each other will be sadly missed .amazing episode thankyou kirby 👏

Thank you for yet another amazing episode with these legends ❤
Loving the kent and haste series, been watching an episode a night, this piece looks absolutely gorgeous, can’t wait for the next episode 👍🏻👌🏻🇬🇧
Love this suit, ...congratulations 🎉 to John on his retirement
Beethoven Op. 2 #3! Your musical choices continue to be impressive--

Looking great already! A Cuban cigar would almost be an accessory to this suit!
Aww John ❤💔
So glad you captured that charming man and master craftsman on film
I actually love this channel so much

Suyamba, that was funny, you said, “Terry cries sometimes after work.” 😊
Kirby has an obsession, always interesting to watch people with such passion for things.
"sometimes, always, never" like it!
Beautiful is what she is!!!
Bless john, wish him all the best

Sorry to hear John has had to retire. Wish him all the best and hopefully he can recuperate and enjoy the rest.
love when you have kent and haste on the videos theyre great fellas, very funny too.
have you ever been to Liverpool, UK?

Another great video! John should be the focus of the next "Connoisseurs in Conversation" episode.
I wish I was as articulate with the small talk. What a skill.
Loved Terry being BASED on electric cars at 18:30
I hear this conversation on how great this sand color is and it brings me back to the funeral director episode with Nick Foulkes poking fun about Kirby celebrating the brown/grey color
Quality content again Kirby . You have opened my eyes into another world.
Super video, I’d visit them just for the banter! What a great place.
Need a sit down interview with Jon if you can , he must have soo many stories to tell !!
This looks amazing
Thank you for all you do and very detailed
KIRBS....You look nervous about the suit neck!!! It looks great buddy, wear it proud mate....

My small collection of Ted Baker clothing always draws attention and compliments. I hope that you're enjoying your new suit!

you're gonna end up with 10 suits a year at this pace :)
By far my two Favorite Chaps
Gotta get a podcast scheduled with John, Kirby.
“Drop your linen, and start your grinnin!”
Hey Kirby, have you done any videos on high quality sunglasses?
I have found that a cloth tape is very handy around my shop......
Great. Thank you
Pleased you did meet Stephen. Looks like another nice suit Kirby
Suyamba, “can’t afford my pins, is that it.” 😊
Looks like an amazing place to work at. Kinda sad it's a difficult craft to get into. Not a lot of tailors left
Absolutely fantastic video
Looking great man - best dressed American Out there
It would be nice if you met up with John Kent at some point just to see how he is doing.
Happy Retirement John.
I can see bro is still fighting to bring braces back. Keep up the good work though nothing can take me away from belts 😊
amazing

Good show, John.
The Best ASMR 🥰
Love a three button jacket because like this.
Sharp as always
Woooo first comment!! Lol
I loved my tan linen suit, it stopped fitting me but I can’t wait to get another, this time in blue.
The light is fantastic....just look at your own video
Suyamba, “three musketeers.”😊
Maybe when he is well an interview with John telling his story would be nice.
i rewatched the first few min for 30 min.
Yesss!!!
Hi Kirby, when will you be uploading the Cuba trip video ?
Kirby u should just commission clothes at terry. Man these garments are second to nine😂
Hi Kirby! Make an interview with John!
Let John enjoy his life
He worked hard enough
Dont be sad
Be happy a working class man made it
Nice suit, could wear it to a cricket match
The lapel height is a bit too Edwardian in my opinion. Then again, I know how Kirby sometimes likes to err on the anachronistic.
I’ll move there for that.
I think that color should be called Sonora. Who else has a suggestion?
John, you deserved the rest. Just keep your cheeky humour.
The jacket looks really nice but I just can't go with such large pants (both the linen as aswell as the bird's eye in the beginning of the video. I need pants on the slim side.
I don’t see it myself

1:00 1:30 I didn’t know you had all that Suyamba
I dig the hat.
Macclesfield silk ties?
Guy admits her work...finally She should start to be a great part of this business
I was a fan of Kirby Allison until I heard him say experience the zenith of bespoke.
It looks very confining, I doubt he can lift his arms enough to put them straight out to his sides...
Damn that's depressing. Was hoping to get something made by John.
The color of the suit is "Wheat" or "Sand"
Nice 👍👍
