If you pull the throttle on a cheap disc lock, it'll break. If you do it with an expensive one, it's more likely to damage your rotor/caliper, but you are more likely to not lose your bike. Speaking from experience.

You are supposed to put both pins through the disc brake so cutting one is not enough to get it off.
That doesn't work with the design of my disc brakes.
