He can - but Mahomes did it before and before him others have but Mahomes taking his team to SB several times early in his career at that rate even elevates him -
JJ will go in the first round - but shouldn't. He will likely go 3 or 4 when he shouldn't be drafted until the second round at best. Here is my order of non-hyped pure QB talent strictly as a passer: Penix, Daniels, Williams, Maye, Nix, Rattler, McCarthy, Pratt, Travis. Now I get that Penix moves down due to injury history and Williams and McCarthy move up due to Athleticism, but there's no reality where JJ should be number 2 based on his college tape. Slow release, lacks zip, inaccurate on mid to longer throws, and didn't win many games on his arm. It just isn't there. He's a 2nd to 3rd rounder, and I think that too many teams are so desperate to find the next athletic crazy throwing QB like Mahomes that they draft a Trey or Zach in the first round when they shouldn't have. Last year's best pure passer was CJ, but he lacked the athleticism and smarts of some others and dropped in the draft (Bryce was considered smarter and more versatile). Well, that didn't turn out too badly for Houston!

Yeah he's totally overrated. Went 27-1 as a starter, won back-to-back B1G Titles, made back-to-back CFP and won a natty. He also beat OSUx2, PSUx2, Bama and Washington. 😂
