QB Traits
Arm Strength (ARM): Raw arm strength of the Quarterback
Quick Accuracy (QAC): Accuracy in the quick passing game
Middle Of Field Accuracy (MAC): Accuracy over the intermediate to deep middle of the field
Deep Accuracy (DAC): Accuracy on high difficulty, "NFL" throws, deep and outside the numbers
Off Platform Accuracy (OPA): Accuracy while throwing off platform and/or on the move
Release (REL): 1-5 Scale on how swift the Quarterback's release is. 1 being long and slow (Tim Tebow), 5 being compact and fast (Aaron Rodgers).
Early Snap Processing (ESP): How well the Quarterback can execute on well schemed plays to his first read on the play. This considers his ability to recognizing the coverage pre and post snap, to consistently get the ball to the right spot on time when his first read is open, all without putting the ball in harm's way on his first read.
Late Snap Processing (LSP): Ability to react to new information on the fly when the first read is covered up. This includes (but is not limited to) the Quarterback's ability to come off a first read at the appropriate time when covered, to get through his progressions quickly, to see the entire field, difficult throwing windows, and overall make the best possible decisions with the football once the bullets start flying.
Anticipation (ANT): How consistently the Quarterback is willing to anticipate receivers coming open both against tight man coverage and into zone windows. 1 being the Quarterback must see the receiver come open before he pulls the trigger, 3 being solid signs of anticipatory throws were present, 5 being a Quarterback with rare anticipation.
Pocket Presence (PKT): the Quarterback’s Ability to sense pressure, manipulate the pocket and know when & how to use his feet to extend plays both inside & outside the pocket; this includes the Quarterback's ability to know when pressure isn't there and when to stay in a clean pocket or find avenues to reset the pocket against pressure.
Play Extension (PEX): Both the physical and creative ability to extend plays outside of the pocket.
Ball Carrier Creativity (BCC) Running ingenuity of the QB
QB Scheme Fits
Pro Style: Traditional, Pro-style, offense that puts an even heavier emphasis than other systems on the Quarterback's ability to read out defenses and make consistently good decisions with the ball from the pocket.
Spread: "College Style", Quick hitting passing game that uses space and numbers to make reads faster and more simple for the Quarterback while letting playmakers on the outside provide a larger portion of the team's explosive plays. Typically Spread offenses also use the threat of a Quarterback's legs to add to those numbers problems. While decision making is still important, this system places a higher emphasis on pre-snap processing and Quarterback mobility than a Pro-Style system that more frequently asks the Quarterback to process defenses post-snap from the pocket.
Play Action: A modern, "Shanahan", style scheme that utilizes a heavy mixture of wide zone concepts in the run game that set up the use of play action. This system uses the threat of play action and the run game to draw in the defense and simplify reads on the Quarterback which often simplifies his processing requirements. What is required in this system is the arm talent to consistently hit the intermediate to deep part of the field where these play action concepts attack. Mobility and off platform accuracy are also preferred for the heavy use of play action boots that these systems run. - Спорт
Great video, you had me expecting you were going chalk with Caleb Williams and Drake Maye but you really threw me for a loop with Kedon Slovis QB2! Keep up the good work!
Especially with Sam Hartman at QB1
Is this funny?
@@001Khy why would it be funny? Sam Hartman and his handsome beard is a very serious prospect.
I was more surprised Marvin Harrison Jr was #1 QB
@@001Khyyes
Having Spencer Rattler as qb 3 was certainly a surprise but I see the vision
*QB7
QB7
@@MyMarkjoeQB17*
Rattler's analysis was literally "boys will be boys" lmao
*QB1
I was really surprised that JJ McCarthy ended up as QB 1 for you, but he certainly brings winning experience to whoever drafts him
😂
lol I haven’t watched the video yet this feels like trolling 😂
Or I’m in for a shocking revelation
Why did I believe this
In my opinion bringing “winning experience” does little to nothing.
My opinion has arrived folks ❗️❗️❗️
I agree.
After what he said about stroud I’m a little more cautious
This guy misses on so many players lol. Watch Bengal for real analysis
@@AustinBreheverybody misses on players genius. Bengal would tell you this guy does good work.
@@AustinBreh no one in the world does not miss on players lol
I watched Caleb a lot when he was a freshman at OU. What I saw was he just looked like football just came natural to him. If I remember correctly, his senior year in HS was wiped out by COVID, and looked like he barely missed a day. And his game vs Texas is one of my favorite memories as a Sooners fan. He’s gonna be really good in the NFL.
Great video as always Marcus. One thing. Can you include ages in your evaluation graphics?
Agree
So wild how Trevor Lawrence is being used as a comp now for a prospect, feels like just yesterday watching that top 10 video of that QB class lol
Hahah crazy isn’t it
Then he still comes in second. Just nuts.
the nfl is a coaching
@@itscebby8882 personally think williams will be the worst out the bunch
Penix lack of pocket presence? Sir, That’s an absurd take. He was great at getting the ball out on time and not taking sacks. How about the game against usc when he threw the td to culp on the move dropping it in a bucket between 2-3 defenders. Polk in the Texas game to set the TD. There’s a highlight reel of these type of plays.
Marcus you have literally the best timing. Abt to head out on a 5 hour road trip. I only had bootleg to listen to but now you’ve given me this. Thanks man
Gotta admit Caleb’s highlights are insane
Insanely unimpressive, indeed. Small, slow, never throws on time. Whoa! Such a superstar! 😂
@@FantasySportsZen justin fields is trash
Yeah I just wish he didn’t have the personality of a 16yr old girl

im leaving for the army soon so wont be able to watch the draft this year but im always excited when marcus uploads these kinds of videos
Thank you for your service!!!
Bro I hope your team wins next year superbowl 🫡
Hooah, good luck dude
Best of Luck Bro! One of The finest!
Don't get captured.
Glad to see this content is back. Your 2023 draft class put me on a lot of guys I didn't know like Laporta and tank dell. Lets goooo!
Dats my dawg ! Been waiting on your top 10s for each position, thanks for the upload gang
I am excited. I have been waiting for these videos to start.
I love this specific series of videos you make bro!
Great video, enjoyed the information and break downs. Thank you.
I am hyped for all your rankings. Your my favorite guide through the draft season.
Props sir. This is always some of your best content.
No better channel to follow for draft season, so excited for the content this year with so many fun players!
Yeees was so happy when I saw you put this video out!!
Loved the video. That Caleb kid at QB 7 feels a bit high but you know what, you're the expert!
Jayden Daniels to me just seems like Justin Fields at Ohio State minus 20 pounds
Jayden has a much better fundamental skills as a QB Justin is a elite athlete that’s all.
Well Jayden has shown improvement at least.
You break down tape better than any vid on the 2024 Draft that I've yet seen, good work!
Really enjoyed your outlook
Was waiting for this!
Just remember this is the guy that had Justin Herbert as the qb6
I’ve been waiting on this, can’t wait!!!
Great evaluations, especially of Bo Nix, who I think would fit really well with the Vikings offense. Nix moves well enough to survive and operate behind MN's average NFL O line. His excellent pre-snap reads and tendency to hit quick passes in defensive soft spots means that JA, JJ and Hock each should get opportunities to get lots of RAC. It would be up to KOC to tell Bo who his first read would be. His B+ passing outside the pocket also bodes well, as does his ability to scramble for first downs. This adds up to a rookie QB that could survive starting on day one. Give him a legit RB1 for play action fakes, and you might just have a very functional system.
I think he or McCarthy could work for the Vikes.
@@thestormofwarI like McCarthy more; I think his style would be more similar to kirks (especially if we got a good rb for him to lean on a bit); and I’m worried about KOC’s ability to play call for mobile QB’s after Dobb’s fell off the face of the earth last season (once we were able to actually game-plan for him starting).
Good analysis and video man. I got a sub for you
Nice job. Thank you.
lets gooo, these are some of my favorite videos out there
YOOOO YOURE A TFG FAN TOOO??
love the rebuilds bro 🔥
Love the rebuilds bro, It’d be cool if you used the TFG roster for one of your rebuilds…
Hey bwandon 🥲
Can't wait for your "my guys" segment this year! That Cheifs defense has 3 of my own "My guys" on it from the past couple years. (Mcduffie, Chanel, Bolton)
Great analysis
I think JJ is being slept on. His arm talent is underrated as is his poise and accuracy.
The guy I trust most in player evaluations. Thanks for the hard work you do TFG!
I’ve been waiting for this! As a Vikings fan, I’m sure we are gonna pick one of these guys up. Should be fun!
Hopefully Bo Nix
@@beatlesandoasis6631 High floor low ceiling, JJ seems like he could be a lot better.
Nice flow on the Daniels review
good to have this series back
Pretty chalk top 5, but I really like how detailed you are in your technical analysis of the players
babe i have to cancel our plans tfg just dropped a classic
Watch penix last season, everyone’s basing it off this szn, last year he was making all the underneath reads with good pocket presence not just the deep ball, kid has all the talent in the world, only thing that will hold him back is injuries. Easily the 3rd best qb in the draft
Agreed I'm going Williams, Daniels, Penix, Maye, McCarthy, Nix, Rattler.
Great video
Tulane student here don’t sleep on micheal pratt, man made a ton of big throws i could totally see him being a top tier backup
I think bo is solidly a first round qb- amazing video as always was looking forward to this!!! This class is amazing
Ruining my sleep schedule to watch this, great work as always marcus
HYPED. It's officially draft season
Great stuff. Wish a lot more Washington fans would look up more info and see Jayden is NOT a better option that Drake at #2. I’lll be checking out your other videos. Second to none breakdown brother.
Its always a good day when tfg post
TFG: “I’m not a Penix hater”
Also TFG: “he could end up being a worse version of Jacoby Brissett”
Those two comments are COMPLETELY mutually exclusive, dude😂
I’ve been waiting for this video. The only scout I can fully trust (besides DJ)!
This is where I come for good opinions that are well researched and not presented for shock value. Just great content.
CHRISTMAS CAME EARLY BANGGGG DRAFT SEASON IS BACK
I was initially shocked to hear you say Caleb Williams is the worst QB in the draft, but when you made your point that since the Bears are going draft him, he's going to be a bust, I had to agree. Excellent analysis overall!
Great video!!! Please do WR next!
Yes a top 10 ranking. I was wondering if your potentially considering a rebuild of Washington/Carolina when you potentially get enough free time.
Only watched 4 minutes so far and I love the format. Subscribing as long as you respect Maye later on😂
came to take a look at who might potentially be the pick for the Giants, but honestly feel confident that Daboll will get the most out of any of them to maximize their talents which has me kinda leaning towards the ideal draft night being taking Nabers/Odunze at 6 and then using the 2 seconds or a future pick to get back into the 1st for that 5th year on someone like JJ or Nix. Whoever they take, I dont think there is a single coach I'd want to develop my young QB more than Daboll and Kafka after the job they've done with Jones last year, but the work with DeVito convinced me that whatever they're doing with the QBs is rare. To go from running the WC against the Jets when he first took snaps because you feared what he might do to winning 3 games with him and making people believe he was actually the Giants Purdy (the most insane shit ever to anyone who watched him either at Cuse, Illinois or here) was remarkable. So glad that Kafka was retained because I can't say for sure who is the better of the QB whisperers, but no matter what QB is taken or where, I will convince myself its the start of their fledgling HoF career.
Great video... DB's tho??
I dont know how I missed this, I have notifications on
Babe wake up, TFG dropped some more draft content ‼️
penix can extend plays, he’s just gotten away from it due to his injury history. when it comes down to it he can get back to the creative extensions he made in high school, and the flashes of that he showed this year. i think he will be amazing if developed correctly
He’s the best in this class
@@davidwillis8623 Agreed, the injuries are the issue.
@@pugilist102 he may be one of those “when healthy” guys
It’s certainly a hot take having Phil Jurkovec as your QB1 but I think that’s spot on
Phil the Thrill Baby!
Lmao trash 🗑️
Your Procomp for tauli should be “gunslinger without a gun”
Love the videos Marcus, keep it up!
Nerfslinger
Doesn't that mean he'd die?
Not sure how Taulia is ahead of Joe Milton or even Sam Hartman lmao
Cowboy with a slingshot
LFG you just made my day.
I feel like everyone overvalued the ability to "create" with Stroud last year and undervalued how good he is throwing from the pocket. Even though Penix isn't as good as Stroud, it's surprising to see people do the same with him this year. Just my opinion, but I think what he can do is much more valuable than what he can't.
Im more worried about his pocket presence tbh
That “create” narrative so overrated only qb recently that has won a chip from being “creative” is Mahomes. Stafford Brady nick foles etc. at the end of the day, pocket presence, processing abd throwing under pressure will always remain superior
Stroud created his ass off against one of the best defenses ever in the playoffs against Georgia. He just didn't have to show it that often playing inferior big ten teams, and played to what he was coached.
@@Trashbag095 Stafford is one of the most creative QBs in NFL history what are you talking about? In fact the QB in recent NFL history most similar to Patrick Mahomes, is Matthew Stafford.
@@knightdance8377 Penix has excellent pocket presence. Watching the tape you see him step up, step to the side, avoid a free rusher and make a nice throw really frequently. Sometimes it's bizarre, you watch people analyze tape and come away with completely opposite impressions.
Didnt know you worked for PFF. Thats cool
Can’t wait for the 10 WRs, TFG is one of the best evaluators of the WR position out there
I much more agree with your overall Penix take than the first view one.
Hey! How does the scoring for Impact Grade and Potential Grade work? I don’t see an explanation in the description
Came back after broncos got bo nix , i like the analysis hopefully it works out
It would be really cool if Nix goes to Denver because then the AFC west would have both the Oregon QBs who wear number 10 in the same division
Thank you for my person draft analysis that I will be sharing with my friends and passionately arguing
personal
completely disagree with penix as a d+ for pocket presence, would have him at at least a c. he does get jittery but he also expertly manipulates the pocket, texas game was a great example
He’s better on 3rd down than Caleb Williams, not sure how you all are coming up with this
Seems like a strange thing to critique him on. I’m a UW fan and watched every single game he played when he was here. Penix actually does have good pocket presence cause he is more of a pocket passer. He also does have the ability to create with his legs I just don’t think he wants to risk getting injured again.
I could be completely wrong with these comps, but Tyrod Taylor is my comparison for Jodan Travis, and somewhat of an alex smtith/colin kaepernick hybrid for JJ McCarthy
Love seeing Spencer’s bounce back
THIS is the BEST time of year.. it’s because of YOUR rankings/ videos 🎉
Bo Nix is a one read stare down QB , who was never hit while throwing a TD over 5 years. He has tunnel vision cant process, snd made a living throwing to wide open NFL recievers behind the best blocking line in college. He never turned his head in college.his arm strength is bottom tier.
Hey Marcus, love the video. Lots of folks mocking Bo Nix to the Broncos at 12 and I know you said you liked the fit. How do you feel about them taking him at 12 without trading down? Too rich, or worth it for the right fit?
Put him there in my last mock 😅
@ThatFranchiseGuy What will you think when QB Joe Milton starts his first pro NFL football game. I got an idea that after QB Milton is drafted, and after about a year on the sidelines, he will either be a starter or at least a back-up quarterback.
Drake Maye legit holds the ball forever. Idk i see a lot of bust potential. Idk if its the acc cameras but his release looks slow. People say hes herbert but idk hes got the light athlete type movement. But idk i see the Carson Wentz way more thab Justin Herbert.
Never clicked a notification faster
We have the same exact top 7 right now. I have only done 7 QBs, will be cool to see how I rank 8-10 soon
I like Taulia a lot as a backup QB, I could see him thriving in AZs stretch zone PA WCO. Love to draft him if he’s available in the 6th to compete with Clayton Tune as Kyler Murray’s backup.
That might be a bit unfair though because I think Tune will take a huge step forward after a year in this system transitioning from the straight airraid he ran at UH.
What a reference. The SEC won’t let me be line 😂😂😂
Hey Marcus, what’s your thoughts on the seeming direct correlation between NFL success and pocket presence? Seems every year it’s the QBs who come out with the best pocket presence that have the most success
There's a reason I spend so much time talking about it!
56:28 the big guy fell so funny 🤣🤣🤣
Babe wake up TFG dropped a rankings video
I would love if the Ravens picked up Travis or any of those sleeper qbs with talent as backup since Huntley is a free agent. 🤞
Not sure I understand how Jayden Daniels has a 10 % overall accuracy difference between him and Maye, yet you have Maye with substantially better ratings. At the very least Daniels should have an A+ deep accuracy. I also think his mid range accuracy is at least a B. Otherwise, good job
side note for mcCarthy, he was playing against maryland very banged up and coaches has said he was barely able to go
it’s time!🔥
I guess it is just me who thinks drake maye's throwing motion is really slow, maybe it is because his feet are not lined up always. Anyway, love these vids. I always enjoy these every year, and learn something from every one about football, not just the prospects
Can you do a potential draft prospect breakdown for the NY Giants please
I'll never forget you had Carson Strong as your Qb1 and then he went undrafted 😂
There's a lot more context to it than that, but yeah...
He ended up QB6 as I learned about his knee problems and it's not like there's anyone from that class to speak of 🤷♂️
@ThatFranchiseGuy Your definitely not wrong, it's just funny in hindsight
i like pratt. 4 year starter and who saw a single Tulane game till he was on the scene...he helped make them relevant.
The goat just dropped
Didn’t know Ben Gulbranson was declaring, but QB4 is not as hot a take as a lot of people think!
On your video in the background, Nix is hitting second and third reads repeatedly. Kind of tough to buy the first read only narrative. It’s also hard to buy your arm strength argument as well when he’s on tape running and hitting a guy in stride at 55 with the flick of a wrist. Good fit for Minnesota like McCarthy.
Also on Nix, his ball placement is some of the best I’ve ever seen. He hits guys in stride, back shoulders, and in position for serious yac. Reminds me of Kurt Warner at this. It’s a seriously underestimated trait for the next level.
First of all, just because you look one way first, doesn't mean that guy is your first read. College offenses design look offs when he first read is not in that direction. Second, he didn't say Nix was a first read only guy, he said that he's uniquely good at hitting his first read, there's a difference.
Michael Pratt at QB3 is interesting
Shocked to see Taulia so high. I think he will go undrafted, and be a practice squad/UFL guy. Whereas Travis should be a 4th-5th round pick and a solid backup for awhile
Joe Milton could be amazing if he develops well
QB Milton is rated as the top ten in other quarterback rankings. He will be drafted!
Been saying that his entire college career, and it hasn't happened.
Love the guy and everything he did for Michigan while he was there, but the writing's on the wall for him.
Bruh did you watch him at the senior bowl? Dude needs a lot of development to even be serviceable.
