  • In this video I unbox and demonstrate a well preserved Hoover Aquamaster Electronic from 1989. I bought the cleaner and the shampoo attachments separately as the cleaner only had the dry tools with it, but as luck should have it, another seller had the shampoo kit for sale. Since filming this video, I have also managed to find a new genuine hose.
After unboxing, I demonstrate the Aquamaster in dry mode before showing how to set it up for carpet cleaning. I use some vintage Hoover shampoo sachets to clean part of the living room and hall carpet and was very impressed with the results.

Such a classic vintage machine and still works like a dream. I can’t believe the before and after Rog.

These are surprisingly quiet vacuums. I have also a white one from the 1990's.

This would work well with your turbo nozzle.
    Nice vacuum.

Nice deep sounding motor, probably a twin stage on top of it. It has similar suction to a Rainbow from the time but even Rexair knows you need to move the air in order to move the dirt (or water for the extraction mode). My Ridgid wet and dry pulls something like 50-60 inches but moves something like 250+ cfm and turns a TurboCat about the same speed as even a Henry. Of course, this is through 17 to 30 ft of hose, one being 2.5 inch and the other being a commercial 1.5 inch diameter coupled together. I guess there aren't all that many large wet and dry vacuums in the UK with an overall capacity of 14 or more US gallons. (I'm Canadian and that's how our hardware stores advertise them, but the size in litres is roughly 53 or 11.5 Imperial gallons).
I know you keep talking about how old the shampoo was but it was in a sealed Mylar and foil pouch. I would think it was fresh as the day it was made. I like the idea of the carpet extractor heads these had as it contained all of the liquid within the head and there are some Commercial carpet cleaning equipment companies that still use this idea and two of them is RotoVac's Bonzer and Sheer Dry carpet and upholstery heads respectively.

I would love to see the AquaMaster tile and vinyl head in action, but oh well.

Very well done! Im so sad they dont make these anymore! I could do with one now. I battle to remove kitty pee stains on my carpet. Even shampooing with my Kirby the stains reappear after a few weeks! Do you maybe have any suggestions on how to remove urine stains permanently from a carpet?

You need something that cleans deeper than the Kirby shampoo attachment. I don’t have problems with stains coming back with my Bissell Big Green machine. I suggest you google pet urine solutions that contain enzymes. I’ve used one that you pour over the stain with enough solution to saturate the carpet and underlay, leave it for a few hours and then blot up the excess.

It’s made such a difference to the carpet! Would you say overall that the aquamaster extracts more water from the carpet than an upright carpet washer or vise versa? 🤔

Do you ever try out cheap brands? I was browsing in b and m and noticed brands like beldray, blaupunkt and Goodman's.

Five gin and tonics…? I’m on my back after one and a half! Either I’m a lightweight or your measures are too stingy!

I don’t really drink alcohol. I may have five G&Ts a year and the odd flavoured cider.
