I just checked the USA Simplicity site, they do not have the carpet cleaner, the cordless vacuum is expensive, the round Canister is different from the one in the US.
These look like good value for money in the UK 🇬🇧, not so in the US.

Fascinating, in the U.S. Simplicity used to sell slightly cheaper versions of expensive Riccar vacuums like their Tandem Air Upright and Supralite as the Simplicity Synchrony and Simplicity Freedom. Tacony has repositioned Simplicity as a much cheaper budget brand but thankfully still has bagged vacuums. In the U.S. we don't get the SV1 or the SPSC1.

You got the same TurboCat in this episode as the one I have. These have the advantage of a geared "timing" style belt so they don't typically have to be replaced. The other interesting thing is, this TurboCat almost matches the Henry Clone, unfortunately the blue of the TurboCat is more like the blue of modern pool liners as opposed to the aquamarine of the canister's highlights. It's almost kismet.
The stick unit has a wonky version of the Electrolux "butterfly" tool...interesting...well actually, it more resembles the weird combo tool I had with my Bissell Powerforce bagless.
The washer is the neatest of the three I think. It has that Aerus/Lux style about it but at the same time it incorporates a Bissell Little Green and a Thermaclean AF2 (formerly Thermax) vibe as well.

Great vlog as always Roger, I’ve just ordered the shampoo machine on the website for £85 bargain, also the dry vacuum is superb value at £59 which is as you probably know is the equivalent of the Truvox vtve which is a pretty good quality brand, kind regards to you and everyone out there, Mark from Billericay 😀😀👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧
Just an update, I have tried it out on the car seats, very good and worth £85 no more than that, although the water spray pressure is low but still performs well 👍

Simplicity here in the US has gone to that color scheme on their budget prices vacuums. I’ve heard mixed reviews from vac shop owners and vac owners about the budget series. The good thing is is that they’re totallt serviceable vacuums, they’re not disposables. But, they’re all Chinese made as with all Tacony products. They’re “assembled in the USA” but still made in China.

  • @stevejones1972

Very good value those Roger, they are owned by US vacuum supplier Tacony, but have different websites for UK and US customers.
For a long while Tacony have sold in the UK via commercial cleaning equipment supplier Truvox, but looks like they want to make the domestic versions of their products now available here as well as in the US. The US has a much larger range of vacuums though and the tub vac that you showed is slightly different in the US and known as the Simplicity Brio tub vac, costing a cent shy of two hundred dollars.
I was impressed by the tub vac for what they are currently asking for it on their website, but like you, I suspect it may just be an introductory offer and prices will rise in due course. I liked the carpet washer but one thing I did note was there was no separate switch for the solution pump as there would be on a numatic george - it must run all the time the suction motor is on, or maybe it is belt driven from the suction motor , not sure about that though,, but you cant just spray the solution on for pre-treatment without having to have the suction motor running. A small thing, but otherwise for the money its ok - made in China keeps prices down in general.
Not that impressed with the cordless stick vac though, looked cheap and tacky, more like your average cheapo argos model you'd get, and on the US website they are very overpriced considering the fact they are just a cheapo chinese clone.
So yes, nice that Tacony are finally coming to the UK proper, and hope to see more of a vacuum range here like they get in the US, maybe even selling them in big box stores and supermarkets, who knows.

I am pleased someone mentioned the Truvox branding. £59 is a bargain for the SV1, especially when compared to the price of the so-called "commercial" model. Much of my working life has been spent in the cleaning industry, and when Truvox have marketed their wares at The Cleaning Show exhibitions their tub vacs were openly described as being designed to accept Numatic hoses, tools, and bags, presumably because they know that Numatic have a huge grasp on the commercial tub vac market, and part of the reason for this is because consumables are both cheap & easy to buy AND and easy to use from machine to machine, from site to site.
This is why I think it has been really hard for some manufacturers to get into the minds of those who are in charge of purchasing within contract cleaning companies and facilities management - Numatic's brand name and reputation goes before it. However, not everyone has access to the brand - a few years ago I worked briefly as a sub-contractor in an NHS hospital that did all the cleaning in-house, and their choice of cleaner had clearly been the Victor V9 as these were dotted around all over the place. But getting bags (or, more to the point, getting the facilities manager to order bags) was impossible.
Second to the Victor was a fleet of Karcher T10 cleaners - they had two types; older ones in black & yellow, with 32mm tubes, and newer models in yellow & grey with 35mm tubes. Luckily, a Numatic bag fitted these, although bags were still hard to get from the facilities team and frequently I supplied my own (which really went against the grain for me as I wasn't paid a lot for this secondment).
Finally, they had a very small number of Taski Vento cleaners, again they took a Numatic bag. But it has to be said that not one of the cleaners I used I found to be any superior than the Henry. Fact is, those responsible for the purchasing of the cleaners were both easily swayed and didn't have access to Numatic through their suppliers, hence the absence of said cleaners, however, they did very much have an account with Argos (they used to buy all sorts of furniture and domestic appliances & furniture such as beds, microwaves, sofas, fridges, dishwashers, and washing machines, for the offices, kitchenettes, and non-patient residential bedrooms), so it wouldn't have been a big deal to order a few Henrys.
I have one of these Simplicity cleaners in the garage - it is branded ICE (Industrial Vacuum Cleaners). It is grey as opposed to the almost black of the Truvox version, though it still has the aqua coloured flex hose connector. I found mine in a wheelie bin at the back of a Tesco Express that is situated on the ground floor of a large building where I service the communal areas of the residential flats above. I haven't cleaned with it yet, but it's got lots of suction. Apart from being grubby and inexplicably missing its front castors (I got two from an 'old' Vax 6151 and they fitted fine), there was nothing wrong with the cleaner.
On a commercial level, if these cleaners were available for the right price then I could well see why someone in charge of bulk-purchasing might be inclined to order these cleaners, however, for a home, I really think the convenience of the cord winder on the Henry, along with the superior tool kit, is well worth the extra if you can get one for around the £100 mark.

@@sdm3447 We had a Truvox Valet battery upright at work (I work for a Facilities management company on the cleaning) back in 2017, which is based on the Riccar Supralite cordless (Tacony brand also) and to be honest it was not up to the task of commercial cleaning, kept wearing out soleplates, brushrolls, squeeked and creaked from everywhere when it was being pushed round. Ended up being binned after a couple of years as it was costing a fortune in parts for the soleplate area, and I think the company knew they made a mistake with it. Tub vacs are always the better way to go for workplaces, unless you have only short pile carpets when you can get away with am upright. We use Numatic tubs at our place such as the NBV240NX and PSP240-11 and the only reason we stick to them is you can get hoses, floorheads, bags etc for them easily, and we get through the accessories like floorheads and hoses quickly. Numatic have a stranglehold on the commercial market really as they have been in it so long and literally dominated it, so it is always their name, brand and reputation that sways companies to buy Numatic.
ICE (Industrial Cleaning Equipment) make one of the scrubber driers at our other site, but the one I use is an older Tennant T2, which is a great machine. I gather Tennant are part of ICE now anyway, they all get bought out and taken over and after 20 odd years they simply are not the companies they were back in the day.
But as for buying brands, to be honest it is better as a company to stick to one brand of vacuum which simplifies buying parts and bags - if you only have Numatic, you only buy numatic bags - genuine or generic. If you run umpteen different brands across a large site or complex, it does get more difficult to remember to order parts from different companies, and that's the problem you highlighted - some vacuums on site get forgotten about and end up with full bags and no spare ones to change them.
