    Hi
    There I drank every evening for 20 years then quitted for 13 years and relapsed for a year. Starting right back at the beginning again. We got this.…..🙏💜

      You quit, not quitted! Sorry, but hey...
      Your body benifited from the 13 years clean, so it's not a total loss.
      You know that you can do this, just pick a date and do it again...

    Day 123 today!! I feel great and have lost weight and doing more than I could have ever done when drinking. Im furthering myself with work. I used to get blackout drunk every weekend and made really bad decisions about sexual partners. Luckily I am healthy and now embarking on sobriety. You are so relatable it’s refreshing. Thank you.

    Great content as always. Yes dreams are so scary. In mine I was getting pulled over by a cop. When I quit, I had driven hundreds of times drunk. Actually feeling normal, not at all feeling drunk. But I was by then dependent. So I knew I could drive, but I also knew I had alcohol in my system. So driving was always a wee bit stressful. Always looking in the rear view mirror. One of my favorite things, even today is never worrying about drunk driving. Always be thankful for even the small changes :)) Sounds silly, but oooh so real. Keep up your great work!! Change a generation. Just fyi, talk about hypocrites lol. After becoming sober for 5 years I worked for 15 years as a advertising/ marketing employee for a Budweiser distributer. Even won some national awards from Anheuser- Busch. I think I was the only non-drinking marketing director in the system....lol. Not really, but close. My favorite campaigns were our "Know when to say When" campaign's. And of course our famous Bud Girl appearances. Which by the way, I never allowed the girls to drink why working. In fact very few even drank. That's part of why they stayed so beautiful. So yes if you don't want to drink, you just don't. I got offered drinks all the time why working at special events we sponsored. My pat answer" I'm not allowed to drink why working. But I will take a diet coke since your offering..:))) I know aspartame. Hey never said I was perfect....lololol.

    I think it's around 98% of abuse/addictions are related to childhood trauma situations. That subject is worth exploring , can surprisingly fill in some blanks

    • @Megz2.0
      @Megz2.0  4 месяца назад +1

      This is definitely really heavy stuff right here that I would love to the research, more on. There is so much truth behind that. It’s just like there was these two boys. Their dad was an alcoholic one chose never to drink one chose to drink and then when asked why the one that didn’t drink said because I watched my father and the other one said why he drinks is because he watched his father. It’s amazing how our minds can be damaged from our childhood in so many ways. Thank you for this it’s a great topic to explore.

    83 days for me! Relationships do change. Not exactly in an end but in a change in view/Outlook. When you're sober and clear headed YOU see pretty much everything in a different way. It's amazing for me. I don't judge. If others want to drink- go for it. I have felt that alcohol just doesn't benefit me, my mind, or my body. The hangover and next morning feelings are definitely not worth it. I jumped into a 5 day nashville trip with my wife and a group of friends and family and pulled it off. It was definitely a change and it felt awseome! You mentioned temptations and those will always be there, always. We're in this journey for ourselves, selfish? Nope not at all. When one decides to quit IT IS a single journey. You put your boots on throw the backpack on and head out. If others walk with you and join you for support -all the better! Have a powerful day!🫵💪👍😊

Any suggestions of how I can deal without alcohol. I also was diagnosed with adhd and bipolar where I have manic episodes and depressive episodes mostly when I drink too much. I’m worried about how to occupy my time for 9 days with no alcohol. I don’t have friends to hang out with and mostly stay home if I’m not working so it’s just me all day everyday these next 9 days with no work.

      From my personal experience occupying my time was reading, working out twice a day making sure I got outside to go for a walks and engaging with like-minded people so this community really helped push me through. Finding a new hobby, a new passion. Listening to inspirational podcasts. Finding a seltzer that you can pour into a glass and enjoy making a Mocktail of any sort. Finding supplements, like health and magnesium really help. Just staying busy overall and coffee helped me a lot not gonna lie. You got this you just have to set your mind to it and you have to want it bad enough. 🙌🤩🩷

    When do the sugar cravings go away?

    • @Megz2.0
      @Megz2.0  4 месяца назад +1

      I am not sure because I started my journey doing 75 hard and I couldn’t have crap Ton of sugar, so I just made healthy protein treats like rolled up protein balls with chocolate protein powder, I also made healthy peanut butter cups with chocolate protein powder. And found no sugar added dark chocolate. But of course being a female I’m gonna crave sugar or junk every so often lol but I just try to find healthy alternatives to those sugar cravings. Google becomes your best friend for new recipes.

      @@Megz2.0 it must be the Kroger brand for me. All other brands just don’t make the cut in my opinion! I enjoy all flavors! I don’t drink soda either so it’s even better!

      I think it’s just figuring out a way to switch your mindset that you don’t want to drink because it’s actually less boring once you get used to not drinking. Now when I look back at it, my life was boring when I was drinking.

    Hello Meghan Its very telling how at the beginning you are describing the shallow irrational rationalizations as to why you (and we all) drank alcohol. "Because its what you do" but wow I visit small towns all the time and the nature, trails, restaurants, museums, rivers, scenery and outdoors is so amazing that I couldn't possibly find a moment I would want to ruin with alcohol.
    When I drank I thought I had ADHD and always felt like I couldn't focus. That mostly went away when I quit alcohol the mental clarity from sobriety is incredible.
    8 months sober is when things get better and better. You already noticed a change for the better in all your relationships and will soon start noticing an exponential growth in terms of your maturity and emotionality. I noticed my overall mental mindset took a moonshot the years following quitting. Any year after I quit I grew more than say any five years when I partook in alcohol. But the best part is the more you grow, the more intelligent you become and so the doors you can now open to even more future growth also increase exponentially. So the more you grow, the more you can grow.
    I had a small collection of booze left over when I quit and for a while I would just give it as gifts but soon knowing it was a poison it became repulsive to want to give it to people I cared about. Why would I gift anyone something so awful? So I just put it all in a couple big boxes and threw it into the dumpster at work.
    I am very grateful I was able to quit alcohol so easily as flipping a switch. The only emotionality I still feel about alcohol is a sense of disgust, at the flavor, the smell, the thought of reeking like it after imbibing.
    Our drinking friends all quit as they are all intelligent and educated. They could see the evidence of no safe dose like we did, but what made up their minds was all the awesome things I started to be able to do with the newfound energy in my life from not consuming alcohol. HOW DO YOU DO XYZ/WHERE DO YOU GET THE TIME AND RESOURCES FOR ALL THAT? The answer was easy and highly persuasive: no alcohol!
    75 hard seems interesting but no sugar and exercising every day with 2 workouts minimum 45 minutes sounds like a recipe for overtraining and disaster. You need a rest day every week sometimes two or more and fueling your workouts is critical especially if you're moving that much. At the very least if your heart rate stays high for an hour or two you need some fruit and similar. Agree walking is better most workouts should be easy zone 2 is where its at. It depends if you hardly train then yes you need to train hard but if exercising most days then if you do HIT or high heart rate past zone 2 more than 1-2x a week your nervous system will tire out and eventually you will overtrain. Had no idea that your brain is the weakest link, far more fragile than any muscle or tendon or joint. That will get injured first; I did and then taking time off sucks. Now I work out most days and sometimes for hours but monitor heart rates (and power on the bike) and keep it zone 2 except 1-2x a week. Results are much better and I feel far better, more energy. Let your easy workouts all be very easy and almost all of them should be, so you can show up to your (rare) difficult ones being murderous and be able to knock it out of the park. Bimodal training: let the easy workouts be easy and most of them should be so the hard ones can be really HARD.

      Thank you so much for your encouraging words and for sharing your journey. It’s incredible to hear how much growth you’ve experienced since becoming sober. I appreciate your insights, especially about the mental clarity that comes with it. Regarding the 75 hard challenge, you’re right-I did cut out added sugars but continued to eat fruits and other foods with natural sugars. It was about finding balance and making healthier choices. And absolutely, I didn’t overexert myself with two-a-day workouts; I found a love for walking and tweaked my strength training to be sustainable. It’s all about a healthier lifestyle, not just a temporary challenge. Thanks again for your support! 💪🩷🙌
