Just got home and had to stop all my activities I need to do tonight to watch your reaction to this! I knew you'd love it!! Strap yourself in brother, PTX Christmas music is quite a ride! Since discovering African Music in the 80s I've been obsessed so of course this is one I return to often. It has all the elements present and correct and authentic. It has always been my favourite PTXmas song though I have to admit The Prayer has me stroking my chin over that. Nonetheless, Joyful and Triumphant right here. Most African Highlife music is. Eeye eeye mmmmmmm.

The "Whaaaat? This can't be real!" reaction u had as u were mentally processing what they were doing to this classic, traditional song, is going to become ur standard reaction to any Xmas song they have. There are a few, like Mary Did u Know, that stay pretty traditional, but the vast majority they creatively reinvent into brand new songs. Some songs may very, like this one started with a twist, but their typical Xmas song formula is one verse of the "normal" version of the song, then a bunch of wonderful craziness, sometimes it'll end there, other times they'll bring it back down to the more traditional sound od the song. They are all epic. This is one of my faves along with God Rest Ye, 12 Days, my Fave things, little drummer boy, Carol of the Bells, sugar plum fairy, Mary, and First Noel...Avi has a beautiful lead towards the end of Noel. Gives me goosebumps.

I’ve sung in a choir nearly my whole life and all I could think was, I bet this video was a total blast to shoot. So jealous! Whenever this comes on the playlist at Christmas we all start dancing in the kitchen and singing into our spatulas-LOL. Too much fun! Next try Carol of The Bells or Little Drummer Boy. Both arrangements are surprising and will keep you dancing in your chair.

So many Christmas songs sound like funeral songs! For songs that are supposed to be about joy, they sound dark and depressing. This version of the song puts the JOY back in joyful! Great song and great reaction!

Hello Travis! Travis, Travis, Travis!!! I was waiting for you to do this one and when I saw it, I dropped everything and clicked on. I love Pentationix. I love their version of O Come All Ye Faithful. I love your reactions. So I knew I would enjoy this. Your first question "Is this O Come All Ye Faithful?" made me laugh and I thought, oh boy, you are in for a treat. This is another masterpiece of PTX, with all the PTX elements - perfect musical arrangement, a rising crescendo, lots of ear candy, Avi deep and resonating, Kevin beat boxing and keeping the rhythm, Scott riffing, Kirsite belting and of course Mitch smooth, piercing and angelic, and how wonderful to bring in the choir! You are right this is absolute fire. it gets me up and dancing every time. I was waiting for you final comments, but your lack of any comment at all said everything!

Agreed. This is hands-down the best version of this song that I have ever heard. Every other version fails in comparison. Love it! This one is right up there with "Mary Did You Know?" as my favorites among their Christmas songs. I'm always bopping along with it, sometimes trying to keep up with the bass harmonies myself.
Some might think their version of this song makes it less Christmasy (?), less worshipful, BUT HEAR THEIR ABSOLUTE JOY in singing. To me, this lifts the hymn to a different level because there is definite worship there.😍😍🥰 This is praise and worship of Our Lord with JOY!

Yup. By far the best version of this song I've ever heard. What a ballsy move, to put an African theme on a classic Christmas hymn.
Since the holiday season is rapidly approaching, you may as well just start stacking holiday song reactions. In many of their covers, they have almost redefined the genre. And their versions are often measurably better than the classics we've come to know and love. And every time they do it, we're stunned that they managed to surprise us with a holiday re-arrangement, simply because it happens so rarely. Most covers are faithful to their originals, maybe a twist here or there, but mostly the same, just a different voice. PTX usually decides a new version is in order, and they kill every single one they do. It's no coincidence that their best selling albums are typically the holiday releases.
A very unique arrangement of a classic song. It is so well done. PTX and Ben Bram might be the best arrangers of music since they came together.
