You are not crazy. Kevin influenced this arrangement as an homage to his father's African heritage and his mother's Caribbean one. This is the most beautiful arrangement I've ever heard of this song.
One reason Pentatonix's Christmas albums are best-sellers is that people are SO tired of hearing the same old Christmas standards and PTX's arrangements always make them fresh.
MY FAVOURITE! Although always one eye tearing 😪 as this was played on my 18 month old nieces funeral per their parents wish - as she loved to dance to it. R.I.P. little angel .
Love this. My favorite Christmas Carol of theirs. Kevin helped arrange to represent his roots. His mom is Grenadian and dad is Nigerian.. Thx Eddie (hey I was first) 😎
This one and "Mary Did You Know?" are my two favorite Christmas songs from PTX. The pure unfiltered joy they're expressing is highly contagious! The African/Caribbean beat running through it is Kevin's influence as a tribute to his heritage, and it really takes a song that was always one of my favorites to a whole new level. Absolutely my favorite version of the song.
My favourite singing-smiles of all time is when the choir turns ahh :') they totally made the song SOUND uplifting, to actually match the lyrics 😃 make you wanna go to adore baby Jesus even if one isn' t religioys 😋
Very much african vibes, inspired by Kevins family. Kevin and Matt introduced it as african feeling and started to dance at some previous christmas tour! Wonderful vibes!
you are one of my favorite reactors bar none. This is the best version of this christmas song period. and yes it is definitely african-straight out of soweto.
This is my favorite Pentatonix Christmas song, just a little bit ahead of "Mary Did You Know?" Good call on the African feel; my first time listening to this, after about 30 seconds, I found myself thinking "This totally has a Lion King vibe to it!" And when the choir comes in....and then that key change....chills every single time. Great reaction!
Hello Eddie! Thank you for doing this one. This is absolutely a masterpiece arrangement, great rhythm, great vocals, great ear candy. You said it "Best version ever". Makes me want to get up and dance every time - even in March. Just love how they all look so happy, singing and dancing. My favourite part is the point where Mitch looks like he will jump right out of the screen and dance right into my living room!
This is a vibe! This is a jam! Very fun! So much moving and shaking with this one! Christmas in March! Love it! I'll listen to this one anytime! Very Lion King like! The choir is a nice touch! Thanks for PTX content!
I came late to discovering this one, too, and I share your view that it is one of their best! They make so many Christmas standards fresh and even exciting.
Soulful church vibes as well. Highlighting another style and vibe for this song which works and makes this be an absolute stand out from their normal style
Great reaction! You are right, this arrangement is a masterpiece! It's one of my favorites too. I love the African/Caribean vibe. Plus, it is so joyful! Everyone, including the choir members, looks like they are really enjoying it.
Hey Newfie....there's good news and bad news re Pentatonix. Bad news..they just cancelled their european tour and probably won't be doing new albums for a while. Good News is that is a result of the fact that Kirstie is pregnant (about 5 months) with a baby girl. Announced on Tik-Tok and she looks FABULOUS !!!
But they added an additional concert in Germany and I got tickets for it 🎊 The other locations near me were already sold out. Its still more than a year until the concert but I am already so excited.
Yaaasss!!! I’ve been waiting forever to hear you react to this one! It’s probably my favorite of their Christmas songs. Just shear joy from start to finish. The African beat was totally unexpected, yet so perfect for this. The first time I heard it I was shocked, then I had to listen again and again and again of course. The beatboxing and harmonies are stellar, and the addition of the choir just put it right over the top. Keep the PTX reactions coming! 💜
Your are one of the best reactors at picking up on Avi & Kevins little subtleties.....Avi's bass floats along all through out the song and he also sings in with the trio...(but he's never shown on camera) Kevin did the arrangements with an African feel in homage to his dad who is from Nigeria....I also hear a little bit of calypso ....Such a joyful rendition of a Christmas fav. Have you reacted to The First Noel? Avi has some great solo parts in it...and shows his upper register....love love love from Australia
Only PTX can take a stodgy old Christmas carol and make it a Dance track!!! Love this version. I have heard the African vibe is to honor Kevin's dad. You are not ( well you probably are ) crazy.
You are a good observer. Yes, African arrangement. You seem to catch many details. Good review. I agree; this version of the song is genius. What else can one say?
Thanks Eddie - I have to say, until I discovered PTX, I didn't have much interest in Christmas carols. Of course, PTX sprinkles magic dust on everything they do. :)
I've read that Kevin actually helped arrange this one and wanted to pay homage to his Dad who is Nigerian. Always love your reactions!
That's cool! I hadn't heard that before, but it makes sense. It's a great arrangement. But of course, Kevin is a great writer and arranger always.
You are not crazy. Kevin influenced this arrangement as an homage to his father's African heritage and his mother's Caribbean one. This is the most beautiful arrangement I've ever heard of this song.
That's so cool!
Joy joy joy
Lion king vibes!
Yes, THIS is how this song was meant to be sung -- with unbridled joy!
You're not crazy. This is what the song would sound like if it was from the "Lion King" album. It is my favorite rendition of the song.
One reason Pentatonix's Christmas albums are best-sellers is that people are SO tired of hearing the same old Christmas standards and PTX's arrangements always make them fresh.
Ditto
I am of Jamaican and African heritage and I could not agree more - you are getting an African vibe.
MY FAVOURITE!
Although always one eye tearing 😪 as this was played on my 18 month old nieces funeral per their parents wish - as she loved to dance to it. R.I.P. little angel .
😢😢😢
I am so sorry for the loss of your young niece. May she Rest In Peace. 🙏😢
Thank you Susan and Judy
The gospel choir members obviously were filled with joy! Np hppier people anywhere on the Internet these days. Their performance here is epic, also.
Love this. My favorite Christmas Carol of theirs. Kevin helped arrange to represent his roots. His mom is Grenadian and dad is Nigerian.. Thx Eddie (hey I was first) 😎
That's very cool.
That's your best chair dancing yet.
Cannot watch this without smiling - definite African vibe - such an uplifting rendition of this song.

Very much african vibes, inspired by Kevins family. Kevin and Matt introduced it as african feeling and started to dance at some previous christmas tour! Wonderful vibes!
The birth of Christ is written as a joyous occasion, but this is the first Christmas carol I've heard that is actually joyous.
How can you not dance to this? I love it!
PTX ❤️🙌🙌
you are one of my favorite reactors bar none. This is the best version of this christmas song period. and yes it is definitely african-straight out of soweto.
You aren't crazy, it does have an african vibe to it. The best version of this song EVER!!! Thx for your reaction❤❤❤
Best rendition of this song I’ve ever heard! Loved it.
This version is BRILLIANT!!!! You are so dam funny, adorable! Love your reactions! Thank you!😊💙
Thank you!! 😁
Great reaction! This is my favorite version of this song - so joyful!!
You have it exactly right - the best version of this song ever done! I can hear it over and over again and never get tired of it.
You’re not crazy! I cracked up at the Mitch is wearing “almost normal clothes”!!! 🤣🤣 True, sir, true!
We KNOW that you’re crazy, but yes, definitely African-Caribbean influences! Thanks for coming back around to PTX. More, please!
Who knew you could dance to that song 🤣🤣
HaHa Eddie you're right! it is the greatest version I've heard of this one! Great reaction guy!!
This is my favorite Pentatonix Christmas song, just a little bit ahead of "Mary Did You Know?" You are not crazy ... we feel it... it's an awesome interpretation of the song .. I dig the tribal beat..
I love this arrangement also. It sounds a little African, a little Carribe, and very upbeat!
I get chill every time I hear this, and they are beautiful people. Love addition of the choir, and Kevin is relentless!
Hello Eddie! Thank you for doing this one. This is absolutely a masterpiece arrangement, great rhythm, great vocals, great ear candy. You said it "Best version ever". Can't believe you haven't reacted to this yet.
I can't hear it the traditional way in my head any more.
You are right very reggae or african vibe to it
You may be crazy, but you are right about the vibe! Love this one, I can’t sit still when it plays. They are definitely ‘singing in exultation’.
Yep, you're right. On all counts. Awesome reaction, Eddie!
Hahahahaha. You are not Crazy... i live in South Africa 🇿🇦 and this certainly has an african vibe.... love your reactions...
I love this. How can you help but smile watching this 🥰
Great reaction to a great cover of there thank you.
❤❤❤❤❤
Christmas in March? Fan-flippin-tastic! One of their best Christmas carols too, in my opinion!
Definitely think you need to try out as a backup beatboxer for PTX! LMAO 🤣
I'll need to get rid of this Invisalign first... I can hardly speak now. Haha
This is a vibe! This is a jam! Very fun! So much moving and shaking with this one! Christmas in March! Love it! I'll listen to this one anytime! Very Lion King like! The choir is a nice touch! Thanks for PTX content!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Oh this is gonna be great!
Definitely an African vibe! Kevin’s dad is from Nigeria.
Kevin is a tenor, he can’t do the low parts. It was probably Avi and my Scott, maybe some in the choir.
I've heard it called Caribbean and African vibes. The only thing I know is that it makes you want to move with the beat.
I came late to discovering this one, too, and I share your view that it is one of their best! They make so many Christmas standards fresh and even exciting.
Soulful church vibes as well. Highlighting another style and vibe for this song which works and makes this be an absolute stand out from their normal style
My favorite PTX Christmas song! And no, you're not crazy!
Feels like i am in Jamica man
And yes, since Kevin is from Africa, they definitely incorporated that type of sound 🎶 🎵
As far as I know, he's never lived in Africa, but his dad is from Nigeria.
Kevin was born in Owensboro, Kentucky. His father is from Africa (Nigeria).
Great reaction! You are right, this arrangement is a masterpiece! It's one of my favorites too. I love the African/Caribean vibe. Plus, it is so joyful! Everyone, including the choir members, looks like they are really enjoying it.

Hey Nick! Sad about the tour.... :( BUT... the world will be getting a baby Kirstie!! Woot!
But they added an additional concert in Germany and I got tickets for it 🎊 The other locations near me were already sold out. Its still more than a year until the concert but I am already so excited.
This Song! So Epic! On my shortest of short PTX lists 🔥🙌🏻💃🏻
terrific reaction :) 💖
Yaaasss!!! I’ve been waiting forever to hear you react to this one! It’s probably my favorite of their Christmas songs. Just shear joy from start to finish. It sounds like an African beat , as it should that is the part of the world where it all happen
Love this! 💖
PTX meets the Lion King! I love it. It is my new favorite Christmas song.
No you are not crazy. It has an African/Carribean vibe. I am dancing like I am at a party.
I LOVE your reactions! You are so fun!
Only PTX can take a stodgy old Christmas carol and make it a Dance track!!! Love this version. I have heard the African vibe is to honor Kevin's dad. You are not ( well you probably are ) crazy.
Have you checked out Pentatonix songs The Prayer, Sound of Silence, and Amazing Grace. Also Royals cover
Yes, and isn't it wonderful. Best version ever.
Yup! I think you nailed it. There definitely seems to be African influence.
You may be crazy, but you're not wrong.
Sounds as though it could be inspired by Jerusalema I'd love to hear these do that song.
Yes it seems inspired by an African sound. At the end it's only Avi doing the low verse, Kevin sings tenor.
Just found your Chanel and this song reminds me a bit of the Lion King kind of vibes
You are a good observer. Yes, African arrangement. You seem to catch many details. Good review. I agree; this version of the song is genius. What else can one say?
it does have Lion King vibes to it ... yes ..
You should add "Oh My Gawd" leather bracelets to your merchandise...hint.
This one is SUPER SUPER SUPER OLD. It is Avi.
YES YOU ARE CRAZY, but yes it has an African vibe.
African influences. Recommend their It’s Different Now.
It's definitely not just you. African vibes are definitely present. About 20% of reactors notice that. Sometimes they reference The Lion King.
Yes your not crazy. It has a very African feel thanks to Kevin’s background. You’re still crazy though. 🤣🤩
You should react to Halsey “Girl is a Gun” music video!!!
Thanks Eddie - I have to say, until I discovered PTX, I didn't have much interest in Christmas carols. Of course, PTX sprinkles magic dust on everything they do. :)
Kevin is Nigerian.
His father is, his mother is from Grenada and he was born in Kentucky
Please react to Pabllo Vittar - Number One......💛🇧🇷
Could be either African or the Islands!
There is a reason Newfie is not in the group-- Like other reactors, he really should not have a sing along!
No, it's not you. It's just the song that has the African vibes.
You do realize that you being crazy or not has NOTHING to do with whether or not this has an African vibe to it, right?
