Hey bud, yeah for recording you'll want to go for the 950's to minimise any spill and isolate your sound. The 850's as you say will leak sound. Hope that helps.
Been using the 850's for years. Fantastic sound for the money. Just so used to mixing with them now. Gone through a few pairs mind... Picked up a pair of Samson MediaOne M50's about a year ago and love them. 😉. Great vid!
Question, what are the differences between the 850 and 880? Leaning more towards the 880 because of the detachable cable but which one has better sound?
Hey bud, the 880's are closed back which is the main difference I'd say, detachable cable is a real bonus for sure. Haven't used the 800's so can't give you a viewpoint on that one, hope that helps!
Thanks for the review, mate!! Have you found any difference in bass between the open back and closed back versions? I am used to gaming headphones and really like a punchy bass for music and movies. Thanks for the feedback! Have a great day
Hi Hugo, cheers bud. Not much difference between the two other than the open backs feel, well, more open. Much more like the sound is in the room whereas the bass on the closed backs is more contained and a bit more uncomfortable certainly at higher levels. Hope that helps!
is the 950 good for gaming? cuz i thought "gaming" headsets in this price range seem more of a gimmick so i thought why not go for studio/normal ones edit: are they same or better than the superlux hd668b/669?
I can't see why they wouldn't be good for gaming, they're a solid set of headphones and very good for the price. I've not tried the Superlux although they have a very good reputation at the budget price point. They look very similar. Wouldn't be surprised to find they've all been made in the same factory with very similar parts!
@@realhomestudioofficial i asked some people who owned these for a long time and they said theyre not worth it and to go with something like the ksc75. why so?
@@keshavthapliyal6437 all I can say is that my experience with them has been good. Good levels of isolation for tracking audio and sound quality above their price point imo. I wish you well with whatever headphone you choose.

Hey mate, just a quick question - do you think any of these would be good for plugging into guitar amp? These are very similar to Superlux headphone HD668B and HD669, but Superlux headphones are harder to drive, as they are 56 Ohms.
@@realhomestudioofficial Thanks for quick reply. Just received SR850 and they work great with my Mustang LT25. Build quality seems to be way better than Superlux, also easier to drive. These need some burn in and then will see how sound will settle. When it comes to sound, especially with SR950, which are HD669 clones... these are tuned in v shape signature, so yeah, they're slightly lacking in mids, but still, it's very "mature" v shape, not typical, bloated consumer type "fun" v shape.
Would you recommend the 950s for someone with a big head? I have a hard time finding over-ears at a budget price that don't give me a headache from the clamping force, and I'm not super fond of earbuds as a long term solution. Do you think the headband wires could be bent into shape to accommodate a giant head like mine?
The SR950 closed back is a great headphone from 45hz and up. It WILL NOT produce heavy bass notes or real low bass notes of modern music without overloading the drivers. Taking away this problem, which will be a deal breaker for most, it's really good for the money.
Hey bud. I haven't used the Superlux but I do know they have a good reputation. Based on my experience with the Samson's I go with them but I really don't think you'll go far wrong with either at the price.
Hey there! I wanted to ask something, still rly new on the subject! 😅😅 In your experience with mixing and master with the 850, was there enough of that right stereo/instrument separation amount that people look for? Anything I gotta watch out for like the bass or treble stuff-?
Hi Maria. If you've got a budget of around £50 then these are right up there. Most of my mixing is done on my monitors and I move back and fourth with headphones to reference so I'm not big into solely mixing on headphones. With regards to instrument separation I find once you get used to a set of headphones you learn how they colour the sound and work with them and the 850s are a good starting place. A more expensive set may well give you more of what you're looking for but as I say, on a budget these are great. Hope that helps.
@@andrebeats6413 EDIT: I probably got a bootleg pair, hence why my experience with it was "meh". Got 'em about two months back. Can confirm, they ain't gonna be the stereo quality I need for like, REAL studio mixing 😂😂 but it's been nice for other uses so far.
