    I've had mixed experiences with Samson gear. I have used their S-Patch Plus TRS patchbays everyday for years without issue and find them to have a very good build quality so I thought I would see how they would do with headphones. The SR850 are very inexpensive, but others I have tested have surprised me (in both good and not-so-good ways). After spending some time with them, I have to say their sound profile is not for me, but some may enjoy their v-shaped tone. Cheers!

    These were my first "bought for purpose" voice over and podcast editing/mixing headphones when I started out! They served me remarkably well. Of course, once I felt I "made it" (🙄) I picked up a pair of DT 990 Pros and didn't look back until I saw this video in my feed. Thanks for the reminder I made a good product and good money with basic kit, including a Behringer X1204USB mixer and Stellar X2 mic, both used, Doc!

      Glad to bring back a "blast from the past" for you. Great reminder that you can make good audio by learning to get the most out of the gear you have. Cheers!

    I have those! I like them for punk/metal music a lot, but the extra bass/treble can be annoying for tv, podcasts, movies, etc. It totally shows in your vocals test. I would recommend them for any metalhead in a budget.

    Little note to anyone talking about the sound difference, for the most part it’s either going to sound like your speakers or headphones

    In your experience what are the most accurate and neutral headphones you have tested? what I mean by this is which headphones that you have tested comes the closest (with the least amount of deviation if not being identical) to reproducing the original signals like the sine wave, music, spoken word and in the log analysis etc. the reason I ask is because I need headphones with surgical accuracy, precision and no hype or deviation whatsoever for critical listening that I can use for work so if you could please answer this I would appreciate it thanks

    Would you be able to provide a quick/short (for your sake) list (likely of other of your videos) of models that are a "few extra dollars" and noticeably better? Off the top of your head? I have the Senn 560s and I do like them by themselves but I elevate the lows, mid-highs, and highs with a Loki before I love them. But I'm wanting a cheaper option for my son. $50-$100-ish. I also have Drop HE4XX's also but without the Loki high/low boosts I hate them. I love them afterwards though. They're just too heavy (headache causing). I also have the Cooler Master MH751 and m40x but they sound poor to my ears compared to the first two I mentioned. So when I listen to V-shaped I'm always disappointed but I always turn neutrals into V and love them. Which is confusing. Any ideas?

      Not sure when you are planning to purchase, but the first set that comes to mind are the Senn HD599SE - on sale today for $90 at amazon (prime day). These are open-back with bass... Here is my review: ruclips.net/video/gltjJUdM3J4/видео.html I will also mention M50x are on sale for $120... I reviewed them here: ruclips.net/video/GAi6jsO5gzA/видео.html
      I would also recommend checking out the OneOdio Monitor 60 (closed-back) and Monitor 80 (open-back). Both of these perform far above their price and have solid bass response and clear highs. M60 review: ruclips.net/video/xTBH-7_WQbo/видео.html M80 review: ruclips.net/video/STRcf_ApULQ/видео.html
      The Shure SRH 440A also have very good bass and treble response out of the box. I haven't done a video for them yet, but but is you find yourself boosting low and high frequencies, these are a good option. These run around $100.
      A few options anyways, I hope this helps out!

      @@askdrtk Sometimes I want more bass, I play with the equalizer, so the question is, which is better for these purposes, sr850 or oneodio monitor 80? I had an experience recently with superlux hd330pro, the sound cuts my ears like a knife, the sound is crystal clear, the low frequencies are almost absent, the equalizer led to the fact that the headphones began to wheeze on the bass, such things…

    • @askdrtk
      @askdrtk  5 месяцев назад +1

      Audio-Technica M20x is a good option as they will help you create balanced audio while editing videos and are suitable for casual listening. Durability should be very good as these are regularly used for recording in studios.

    Does the k702 still worth it right now ?

    • @askdrtk
      @askdrtk  5 месяцев назад +1

      K702 have among the most spacious soundstage available and mid-bass, mids, and treble are well balanced. About their only weakness sound wise is in low frequencies below 60Hz. They are still widely used by discerning listeners and in music production.

    Hey man i want to buy beyerdynamics dt990 pro but ive heard they are too quiet with some audio interfaces.Could you reccomend audio interface that will provide good quality and enough "noise" for these headphones? My budget for it is around 150 dollars

    • @askdrtk

      The Arturia MiniFuse 1 will drive the 250ohm 990s to more than enough volume while delivering good clarity. Best headphone amp in an audio interface in this price range imo. I hope this helps out.

    are you challengin dankpods bruh?!
    you suggested the hd 681 and oneodio 80.
    From my experience with the superlux 681, 10 years ago... it was m u c h more sibilant with highs than the sr850. unbearable really, i recall vividly. sr850 i live with it just fine. very strange...
    none of them id say are ideal with stock pad use, if one must, sr850 stock velour are levels above the crappy stock of hd 681.

    • @askdrtk
      @askdrtk  5 месяцев назад +2

      For me, neither the 850s or the 681s are on the list... (the 80s were surprisingly well behaved, but not at all dull)
      My pick for today below $100 would be the HD599SE as they are on sale for $90. Good clarity and solid bass in an affordable open-back... I really should do a "cheap headphone roundup" lol...

    • @askdrtk

      Good point, of course the physics of everyone's ears mean we all hear headphones (and monitors) differently. I like to say, for casual listening, get what sounds good and is comfortable. For production, learn what you have very well and the results will follow within the limitations of both the playback devices and most importantly, our ears. We're fortunate manufacturers make headphones with a diverse range of sound profiles...everyone can find a good option!
