Great video. I just acquired a 2003 KLF250. It's leaking oil and blows white smoke when it runs. I just bought the Clymer manual and a complete gasket set off Ebay. How do I know if it needs new piston rings and top end work? I'm a complete novice on these.
What is the cable/wire that is attached to the cam-chain tensioner and what does it connect to on the other end? I cannot find a diagram of this anywhere and mine is just hanging loose on my ATV.
Is the chain not on? If so, you can help the bottom end parts (crank or clutch) If chain is off, I would try to hold the sprocket. Thanks for watching. One question. I have a 250. It idles well and does run ok but only 1/4 or at full. Anything in between it sputters and bogs terrible, as if it had a rev limiter or something. Cleaned carb a few times, cleaned fuel tank and new fuel line and spark plug. Checked timing and valve lash, all ok. Any ideas to what it might be?
Hello I’m trying to figure out a gear reduction for a klf300 and I have a few questions about the klf220 primary and secondary clutches. from the looks of it they would drop right into the klf300 engine but have a far lower gear ratio. The 300 has a 27 tooth gear on the primary and the 220 has 22 and the secondary gear looks bigger on the 220 aswell so I would assume it would be like a 30% reduction on a Honda FORTRAX. I’m just wondering if you could confirm if the entire clutch setup could be interchanged. It could be a huge step in bringing the bayou back.
I'm about to pull the head off of one of our Bayou 220's. It acts like it is losing compression when it warms up. At temp it won't start, it hits and spins faster but won't stay running when I get off of the starter. Spark is good, plug is good, carb has been cleaned and works fine. The valves were a little tight so I have set them to spec. Someone over filled the oil (could have been me). I drained the oil down to the correct level. The over filled oil was causing some engine noise and that went away after I drained the excess oil. I don't know if it has a valve starting to burn or if the headgasket is leaking and causing the no start at normal operating temp. This video will help me. I'm hoping the head can be pulled without pulling the entire engine. This bayou is too nice not to fix. Great videos. I have shouted your channel out a few times around some other youtube channels and live streams that we do. 👍👍
Hey bub how much would you charge to rebuild the same engine? I have one i recently got and im sure it needs rebuilt. Im leaking oil from the side case where the pull rope is the case behind the pull rope like where the stator is. Is this normal? Im not too intelligent on small engines. Should there be oil in there? Please lmk @ mid Nebraska Motorsports?
@@MidNebraskaMotorsports I'm adjusting the valves on my bayou 220, the T is in the sight glass, but the divet on the sprocket is towards the bottom, does this mean the shaft is install upside down?
Central Powersports you meant the choke lever right? And I'll get back with you later I'm working on my foreman project and I'll end up needing one but I'm trying to get running on a budget right now it's just a frame with a wiring harness and wiring wise about all that's missing is the dash and handlebar switch I have to get one I got 2 motors to hopefully make a good one once I getting it running should be soon I'll get back with you i am trying to get one cheap as I possibly can I'll make a offer when I get back to this
No idea what's wrong with my 220. Started stalling when coming down to an idle while driving. Started leaking gas. So cleaned the carb. That stopped. Then it started spitting oil one day, so I stopped driving it. But would start it and let it idle. Now it stalls after 30-60 seconds each time. Initially thought just carb issues. But the oil spitting worries me. I can't afford a full top end rebuild. The piston and cylinder kit is 169+tax here, and then 40 for the gasket kit. And that does'nt come with teh roller bearing and guides, and then there's all the other stuff that could be wrong. I was told it'd be 1000 bucks just in parts to do the COMPLETE top end. just in parts... I got the carb kit, and a top end gasket kit (I was mislead and told it included the piston and rings... nope doesn't...). so I'm probably going to tackle the carb. See if I can get it running. Then try the top end, take it apart, see what's what. It's started smoking a tiny bit, so I fear the rings are on their way out... if so, I really can't afford this money pit project. :(
You're videos are alot of help man! Great work!

The camshaft sprocket does NOT want to come off and I’m starting to round the nut off. Any advice to hold it from spinning and get the nut off?

Could you tell me why my 220 clutch won't disengage? As soon as I put it in gear it takes off at idle won't stop and run at the same time
Would you please provide me with toque values for the clutch assembly? Thank you!
Do you know what color wire for the kill switch is ?
Haha my piston was just laying there🤣😂

I have a clanking type sound at idle only that sounds like coming from the clutch cover area any ideas?
@@MidNebraskaMotorsports Thanks. Would the shavings be magnetic then? Mine are not.
Hey I followed your instructions on doing the valve lash adjustment but the motor still ticks. Any idea what else it could be?
