  • Well I went into Grand Forks BC for a re-supply and beautiful drive. And after that I continued on the stilt cabin. It's coming along slowly. It is a lot of work finding suitable downed tree's, cutting them, hauling them back to camp, peeling them and notching them to fit. But it is very cool seeing the project take shape.

Just started watching cool project! I don’t know your overall design but what I see I would add diagonal bracing between the vertical poles. Diagonal braces between the verticals will do what you want without the need for an extra vertical post. The extra vertical won’t make the structure more stable. You need lateral stability ? Good luck!

Hey! Thanks for the advice. Ya, I'm no carpenter. I'm just building something cool for the fun of it. Ya the post definitely didn't do much in stabilizing it. I actually did put braces on the vertical pillars afterward. Did seem to help better for sure.
      Cheers, Danny.

suggest you add diagonal bracing on your lower uprights, that will remove the away your experiencing on the second story.

Hey! Thanks for the advice. I am not a carpenter by any means, so I appreciate any advice. I will definitely give that a try.

Man that's going to be a pretty cool tree house ! You might have to put 45* angle braces on the bottom section to take the shaky out of it , Awesome view when you get that high :) I'm back from fishing & back to building at the homestead here, Just got my fishing vids up :)

2 story cabin is a bad idea, live and learn i guess. Im solo, boat, float plane and sled access only in northern BC Can'tada.

It Ain't for living in. I'm just building something cool for the hell of it. Got to try new things to learn and experience. Think outside the box. Could always use it as a place to hold supplies.
      Cheers, Danny.
