I enjoy exploring the off the beaten path places away from crowds and cities. Join me on my adventures.
Also, I enjoy the quiet places, places you can think and create without distraction. My videos will reflect that as I am not a loud personality. If you like my videos, that's awesome, I appreciate it. If you don't, that's fine too, but please just move on then. This won't be a place to judge or bully. I appreciate ideas and helpful thoughts on improving and incorporating things into my videos that work with the vibe I am happy with. Kindness and respect are what I believe strongly in!

Completing the Tiny Cabin on Stilts (Believe in Yourself) Ep.20 Part 5
In this vid we add more bracing and get the roof completed. This task has been a big one, but, it feels amazing bringing it into fruition and accomplishing what I set out to do.
People will always doubt you or simply try to bring you down, but, the best and most important thing you can do is believe in yourself. Story time, Heat wave, Braces (It's getting HAWT!HAWT!HAWT!) Ep.19 Part 4

Well, Things have slowed down a little bit on the project with a heat wave hitting the area. We are getting temps close to 40 degree's Celsius. It is very humid and gross during the day. I moved the Ambo into a shaded area under some tree's. It has helped a bit, but, it still gets quite warm inside. I am very close to completing the project, I basically just have the roof to build now and it wi...

I continue on the project and get hit by a thunderstorm with hail/rain. For those wondering, I don't plan on living in this. It's just an experience to have, create something, and learn. Could use it as a storage while in the area/ short-term shelter. We will see how long it will last out here. I'm going to get some more exploration vids up soon here, too. Cheers, Danny and Starsky. Supply Run into Town and Continuing on the stilt Cabin (Building Floors and Ladders) Ep.17 Part 2

Well I went into Grand Forks BC for a re-supply and beautiful drive. And after that I continued on the stilt cabin. It's coming along slowly. It is a lot of work finding suitable downed tree's, cutting them, hauling them back to camp, peeling them and notching them to fit. But it is very cool seeing the project take shape. A crazy Idea begins (Cabin on Stilts) Ep.16 Part 1
Просмотров 703Месяц назад
So having time to do what I want I've decided to build something crazy. A Small cabin on stilts or pillars. I've thought about it for awhile. I watch Dick Proenneke's "Alone in the Wilderness" religiously and his little food storage on stilts has always fascinated me. I won't be building it as high as he did, but, same kind of concept. Something fun to try while out in the wilds. One day I hope...
Crazy weather, Making things, Routines, Hike to view point, Bear encounter (Typical Day) Ep.15

Just a typical day in my life in the woods. Breakfast routine in the morning is pretty much as follows most mornings. Sometimes it just a few cups of JOE and some oatmeal. Weathers still being all over the place. Get's really hot, then cold, then rains, then its beautiful, then it snows or hails. Nuts! Did a hike to a spot I have been to previously when I was out this way two plus years ago. Ha...

Thought I would give another walk through of my Ambo Conversion. Did one in my Second ever video, sometime ago. Due for another one while the weather has been Dreary. It ain't fancy but that's the way I like it. More of a Cabin on wheels then a luxury tiny home like some people do. I think people go a little too luxuries on there conversions, not my style. But to each there own, what ever makes...

Part 2 of Exploring the Cabins and Cleaning up cabin site #2. Ended up finding a little surprise buried in this site. Also, I had to do a water run. The stream I get my water from is about a half KM away from camp. I fill a 20L water CAN each time I need water, which gives me a good bush workout. The stream is downhill, so coming back, it is uphill over the deadfall. I use a strap system to mak...

Back in an Area I explored years ago. At that point in time I discovered a couple of Old Cabin Ruins. This time around I decided to clean up the site as it is already destroyed and see what history I could come across. No ones ever Crazy.. in this life and times.. you're not one.. if you're building a place for yourself where you're the king of the hill. Be Happy be open.. write a journal.. and in 10 years.. when you've passed this stage.. you'd think.. hmm how i could have done this better.. this way.. or that way... more stable support more bigger space.. more standing talll space.... a place to cook easily .. a place to take a shower.. perhaps under the cabin or 2 in 1 space covered by a tarp and later made into a solid chip board covered area...a cooking and relaxing area. and upstairs into a sleep area.. the cook stove pipe going through the upper sleep area to keep it warm in winter..that you can remove.. n next summers.. But that is yet to come.. So keep on doing what you like... Build a rock cutout pool for yourself.. and you'd still be happier than many. Regards from Singapore, stay safe.. Hey! Thank you for the support and helpful suggestions. I really appreciate it 🙏. Lots of things I can learn from the build and improve on in future endeavors for sure. Cheers from a Canadian friend, Danny.
Well done, you should be proud of yourself. It looks amazing 👍
Hey! Thank you so much. I always appreciate supportive comments. It took time, but it was a great experience and turned out not too bad. Cheers, Danny.
A great accomplishment never having built anything like that before. Be proud of yourself. Pretty cool ❤
Thank you very much. Cheers.
Blueprint as you go as you go my friend that's what i do :) That's a pretty cool cabin treehouse 👍, I'm sure the next build won't be far away !
Absolutely! The minds imagination is the best and most authentic way of creating things. Thank you, friend! I hope one day, I can own my own piece of off grid property like yourself. A place to call my own and build the things I want to. Keep living the best life, the off grid life. Cheers!
@@findmeinthewilderness1508 My friend life is short take your time & find a piece that has water & wood & you have it made :)
Looks great Dan
Thanks, I appreciate it. Cheers.
That looks pretty awesome Dan. Nice job
Thanks, it was a lot of work but very enjoyable. Cheers.
1 diagonal brace is worth all your horizontal braces.
Hey! You are right about that. I am going to add more for sure. Cheers, Danny.
Are you going to put up som diagonally logs to stiffen up the structure? It seems a bit wobbly and unsteadily...no matter...it is exiting to follow your progress😊
Hey! Haha, I am for sure. Have a few in like I showed, but more is always better. I appreciate you coming along with me. Cheers, Danny.
You're so right, no better friend than your dog! Both of you stay safe..
Absolutely! If I've learned anything in my life, it is that you can only really count on yourself and your dog. Thanks for the comment. Cheers, Danny.
It's coming along good 👍Your getting lots of weight up there, Just understanding towers the angle braces are important, get enough in it will stand for years :)
Hey! Thanks, I will add more for sure. The ones that are in seem to do the trick, but the more, the better is always a good idea. Cheers, Danny.
Looks a lot stronger now!! Great video !
Hey! Thanks, bud. It is definitely sitting better now. Cheers, Danny.
man , this is Canada. Merica!
Haha, yes it is. Cheers!
Hello.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊
Hey! Thank you very much for the comment 😄. Cheers, Danny.
Your dedication to progression despite facing a thunderstorm is truly admirable. Your resilience and determination in overcoming challenges reflect your strong commitment to your goals. Keep pushing forward, and may each obstacle you conquer bring you closer to success. And I am a floating village life from Vietnam.
Hey! Thank you so much for your beautiful comment. These are the types of comments and support everyone should get. In the world we live in these days, we all need none judgemental, respectful, kind human beings like yourself. Words like these keep me motivated to strive on. So thank you. And all the best on your ventures and strives forward in life. A floating village sounds amazing and a unique experience living life the way you want to. Cheers from a Canadian friend, Danny.
@@findmeinthewilderness1508 Thank you for your congratulations! I also wish you a good life with your car and your project of living with nature, wonderful!
You could eliminate the sway if you installed cross bracing in the lower sections. Keep having fun. Stay safe!
Hey! Thanks for commenting. I actually do add bracing in my next video. And it does make a huge difference. Cheers, Danny.
Very cool! It will be interesting to know the total hours you put into making this. Soo much work! Nice job!
Thanks! Haha, ya, it's a ton of work for sure. Slowing down a bit with this heat. Getting way too hot but almost done. Cheers.
Awesome job!
Hey! I appreciate the comment 🙏. Cheers!
You could still carve more wood from that spoon. It looks half finished
I like it the way it is. Thanks though. Cheers.
admire your work ethic, and creativity, lots of sweat equity in this pillar of poles, cant ignore the necessity of sound engineering, the constant sway cause the attachments to become less secure and eventually out of square, but it is after all a learning experience isn't it.
Thanks. Ya, like I said at the end of this video I do add the supports on the pillars in the next video. I'm more ahead than this video shows. I'm just behind on editing and making the video. Lots of clips to pour over and put together. Cheers.
looks like a great road, :0),
😄 it is indeed. Cheers.

Ya, I forgot I had it in the van. Sorry.
Thanks for sharing brother New friend here stay connected God bless you
Hey! Thanks for the kind comment. I appreciate it 🙏. Cheers, Danny.
2 story cabin is a bad idea, live and learn i guess. Im solo, boat, float plane and sled access only in northern BC Can'tada.
It Ain't for living in. I'm just building something cool for the hell of it. Got to try new things to learn and experience. Think outside the box. Could always use it as a place to hold supplies. Cheers, Danny.
Man that's going to be a pretty cool tree house ! You might have to put 45* angle braces on the bottom section to take the shaky out of it , Awesome view when you get that high :) I'm back from fishing & back to building at the homestead here, Just got my fishing vids up :)
Hey! Thanks for the advice! Very cool, ya got a homestead to work at. Off grid is the good life, ain't it. I'll check out your vid! Thanks for the comment! Cheers, Danny.
Hi ❤ nice to meet you 🖐️🙏🙏🙏💞
Hello! It's very nice to meet you as well. Welcome to the channel, and thank you very much for the kind comment 😊❤️. Cheers, Danny.
suggest you add diagonal bracing on your lower uprights, that will remove the away your experiencing on the second story.
Hey! Thanks for the advice. I am not a carpenter by any means, so I appreciate any advice. I will definitely give that a try. Cheers, Danny.
Just found your channel. Curious to see what you are building. ❤
Hey! Thanks for the comment. I'm just building something cool for the hell of it. Small cabin on stilts. When ya have time to do and create things, the ideas are endless, haha. Cheers, Danny.
Just started watching cool project! I don’t know your overall design but what I see I would add diagonal bracing between the vertical poles. Diagonal braces between the verticals will do what you want without the need for an extra vertical post. The extra vertical won’t make the structure more stable. You need lateral stability ? Good luck!
Hey! Thanks for the advice. Ya, I'm no carpenter. I'm just building something cool for the fun of it. Ya the post definitely didn't do much in stabilizing it. I actually did put braces on the vertical pillars afterward. Did seem to help better for sure. Cheers, Danny.
Didn't know there was sound till the music started. Great music.
Hey! Thanks for the comment. Cheers, Danny.
Great video. I really enjoyed watching it. Best wishes from the UK.
Hey! Thank you so much for the kind comment. I really appreciate it. The UK, I really love your country. I have always wanted to visit. You guys have some amazing history. Maybe one day, if I ever come out of the Wilderness 🌲😄. Cheers, Danny.
Don’t u ever worry a bear is gonna creap up behind u while your sitting carving? I’m a chicken though lol
Haha, Starsky always has my back 😄. Cheers.
K that scene with the bear in the tree had me freaked out! Like watching a scary movie hahaha
Glad to see that you're doing well, friend. You found a really great spot there!
Hey! Thank you for the kind comment. I really appreciate it. Ya this spot is hard to move from. Lots to explore and see around here. Get lots of sun here and clear dark skies for beautiful star gazing. Cheers, Danny!
Enjoyed the video.
Hey. I appreciate the comment. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Cheers, Danny.
I wonder how old that place is..
Not to sure, the surrounding area has been mined since the late 1890s. So I'm guessing the early 1900s, possibly. I did see a mix of square nails and round head nails, I'm sure it was repaired and maintained throughout the years. That is until they abandoned it. Cheers,Danny.
Great video Dan !!
Thanks pal! Cheers.
That setup makes you look like an alien walking and not a human. Better off with a hat cam.
Haha, ya, I thought it looked weird as well. I do have a way of strapping it to my chest that looks a lot better. Cheers,Danny.
Let’s see a video on what your stock up on while in town!!!
Next time I do a supply run, I'll do that. I stocked up pretty good so won't be for a while. I do big stock ups, so I don't need to go into town so much. Cheers,Danny.
Beautiful life.. love the woods.. what forest is that ?
It's out past Port Renfrew heading towards Lake Cowichan on Vancouver Island BC. It's such an amazing area. Although if you look at Google Maps, the logging scars are pretty disgusting. But there are still some beautiful thick forests to enjoy, for now. Cheers,Danny.
Hello, from the back window! lol good video editing and presentation enjoyed it ( and the talking ) very much.
😄. Hey! Thank you for the kind words. I really appreciate it. Ya, like I've said to others, I'm not a big talker, but I try my best. I'm happy you enjoyed it, and thank you for commenting. Cheers,Danny.
I am pretty impressed with how far back in the woods you get that big girl. Especially with the fact that she is 2wd and heavy. What rating is your winch? Is it mounted behind the bumper? I am just starting to get out in my ambo and a winch is on my list.
Haha, ya, I take it places it has no business going, but I like my privacy and quiet. The further in I can get the better. You definitely have to take in account the weight. I try and walk the ground I'm going to be driving over if it looks soft. But I also just give er sometimes and get in trouble 😅. That why I have the winch though, it has saved me countless times now. Best investment. My winch is rated for 10,000 lbs. I keep the winch separate in one of my side compartments. So I can put it on the front (had to buy a front hitch for the ambo and mount it) or the back. I have a battery just for the back hitch, so I can pull from the back or the front. Which ever way seems best. It's a great investment and I would highly recommend it if you plan on going in to places like I do 😁. Cheers,Danny.
Nice hoodie!!
I wear her everyday 😄.
Always love your music choices and loved hearing your thoughts! You are very wise and you have such a sense of humour that I admire! You waving in the window after cleaning it was one moment of it.
Hey! Thanks cous. I appreciate the kind words. I always feel a bit weird filming myself and talking to a camera, but I don't hide my awkwardness or my true self. I am who I am, and that's all I can be. Hope all is well with you and yours. Cheers,Danny.
Great video Dan! Can we see cooking over a fire in the next video!!!
I'll see what I can do buddy 👍, cheers!
Its a good mix of both between talking and music/subtitles, awesome setup man!
Hey! Thanks for the comment and support! My talking can use a little work, but I am doing my best haha. Cheers,Danny.
Enjoy your perspectives! Nice work. subbed.
Hey! I appreciate the kind comment. Thanks for the sub to. Cheers,Danny.
Loved the video can’t wait for the next !!!
Enjoyed your video! Thank you!
Hey, I appreciate the comment. Cheers,Danny.
That's a great stove. What kind is it? Link, information?. I subscribed 😊
It's from cubicminiwoodstoves.com . They make awesome little wood stoves, I have the cub. It's the smaller version but heats my ambo space great. I believe the bigger one is called the grizzly for bigger spaces. They have everything you need to get it going properly and safely.. Thanks for the sub! Cheers,Danny.
I used a starlink long mount and attached my dish to the drivers rear of the vehicle. Door opens all the way, the dish lies flat when it encounters high winds so on the highway it sits right in the slipstream of the giant box in front of it. I did have to add 2 grub screws to there the starlink slips in the mount to tighten everything up and prevent wobble.
Howdy, friend. Fellow ambu person here. Starlink roam is a game changer. Great video, I really like that little wood furnace. I've gone the diesel heater route but I think I might pick one of those up and make some space for it, just in case diesel becomes hard to acquire. Side note... why do we all look like Ted Kaczynski? lol. Stay wild, stay free.
Hey, thanks for the kind words. The wood stove is one of my best purchases, puts off all the heat you need and is just a great ambiance in the ambo. And yes she's cheap to run. HaHa, ya there is a certain look one obtains when living in the wilds. I got my little cub wood stove from here cubicminiwoodstoves.com/. They have everything you need to install one in your rig. Cheers, Danny.
