Nolan's logic was like:
A) Flowers are an expected and cherished gift for a date
B) Tree is flower but bigger
Honestly not too far off imagine if he brought a cherry blossom tree
@@grimgreycastle5141 My thoughts exactly. It’s oddly cute in a way.
viltrumites be wooing their mates one way or another
Funnily enough, it's mostly the warmth the earthlings showed the Viltrumites that ultimately changed their views.
Man has a Sol Badguy grindset.
I swear Debbi is such a good mother.
She's an incredible wife too. Later on, she gives this breakdown of how marriage is supposed to work that to this day makes my jaw drop. I hope they don't cut it out.
Good mom. Awful person. Imagine blaming Cecil for everything that went wrong ever. The guy's just looking out for the general best interest
@@hatefulentity5331 I mean you can’t entirely fault her for that she’s not in a good headspace.
@@elijahbaker781 maybe she start drinking
@@hatefulentity5331 she actually did right when Nolan left earth.
Those questions have "Would you still love me if..." vibes. You can't answer those without offending the asker, they are trap questions.
But this is Mark's chance to understand things from Amber's point of view. In this situation HE is doing everything Nolan did, leaving his significant other waiting for someone who might never return. It isn't fair and there are no easy answers.
It only becomes a trap question when the person asking the question is being deliberately deceptive. Somehow I get the feeling Mark's questions are meant to come across as genuine.
People marry cops.
"Would you still love me if I were a literal spider?"
@@samual_not_samuelwhile they might be genuine, the problem is that they are still trap questions.
It’s like asking your boyfriend/girlfriend if they would still love you if you were a horrible person.
Damn she accepted Oliver so quick 🥹 such a beautiful mom
Well since Andressa is dead Debbie is the only mother he can see in his eyes
@@inlaidaniki2999 Even if he is a reminder of the fact that her husband had an affair?
@@amitkenan3878 I also think it's a little weird that she wasn't bothered too much that her husband had a new kid with someone else.
@@verdegaban1615 Why?
Many former couples aren't bothered by the fact their former partners had children with new partners. And her marriage to Nolan was annulled after what he did to Earth, so he didn't cheat on her. She's got nothing to hate about Oliver even if he's her former husband's son.
@@girl1213Debbie reacted differently in the comics and was more reluctant in taking care of Oliver.
Nolan bringing Debbie a tree because "tree = bigger flower" is kinda adorable though
"You dated, right?" Seems like an odd question, but his dad is part of an alien empire that takes what it wants. And if a certain character is appearing, Mark might see that directly.
Anissa: Imma ruin dat D1ck Mark! It's gonna look like a demolished building after I'm done! Feel bad for the next gal, cuz you're gonna be pushing rope for weeks!
I have read the comics too, but this constant 'Oooh just wait till character x arrives and THAT scene happens 🤓' is so annoying, it's on every video
@@GrintockI really need to read the comics. This show quickly became a fav for me and as much as I understand animation takes a long time I can’t wait haha
lol
My parents got divorced, and my mom, deapite having a LIBRARY's worth of reasons to leave my dad, says shed marry him all over again just to have me and my siblings
I don't think my mom would. I always feel bad because I feel like in a perfect world, I wouldn't exist. And my mom loves me and I know she loves being a mom, but it still sucks knowing that her relationship with my dad was a terrible mistake
@carlycrays2831 You probably already know this, but it's not your fault. Your mother clearly cares deeply about you.
Damn, that's beautiful. Mother's are truly amazing
To me that relatable as when your parent see you as the one good thing from the mess or see you as the one they stayed for they Know deep down and even admitted they never would've had us but still see their one child as the one good thing from the aftermaths

Nolan really did love his family but was torn between his new life and life mission...

My bad. Thank you for pointing it out.
It’s the right choice to say “I don’t know” because that answer will hurt not only Mark, but Oliver as well when he gets older. But Mark should know she would have normal life with no super power family.
I don't see how that would hurt Mark.
@@samuelsoliday4381I think Mark feels very insecure because he has the same powers his dad does. And he's realizing that this superhero life requires a ton of sacrifice
@@samuelsoliday4381
Because one of the answers is in some way or other:
"You're an unwanted burden"
That's very deep answers and true, and for that... Debbie would not be major support character @@anxiousearth680
@@anxiousearth680 That is literally the opposite of what is being said.
Debbie’s humanity rubbing off on Nolan is what changed him, and her outsized influence on Mark as the more present parent is what made him such a good person. She’s the whole reason Earth had a chance.
It's actually Canon that Debbie is the driving force on Marks good side. This is cemented when mark's evilest version was when his mother died at a young age before he got his powers(and that guy is a cannibal)
Nolan almost convinced Mark in season 1. the thing that made the main universe so different from all of the others is that it was the only universe where he probably called Debbie a pet.
This really hurts. Mark cannot balance it because it is always impeding danger that he cannot control. With nolan he could control it and even then it hurt her so much. The thing that bugs me most is that there is this constant narrative that you have to do something. Some of us want a simple life.
I don't think the story is villainizing Amber or Debbie here. And to her credit, Debbie is trying to make her life as normal as possible. That's why she kept her job as a realtor and why she wanted to get a normal babysitter for Oliver
Debbie might very well have changed the course of events in a major way. she both taught Nolan things that might have stuck, concepts he likely thought over when he left earth. She also instilled the best parts of being human to Mark, which gave earth its protector with those morals in him.
Plus without Mark the world would probably be wiped out, because although he didn’t beat him physically Mark was the one who ultimately drove Nolan away from earth by getting him to care
Debbi is so much more of a better mother in the show than the comics, it's crazy lmao.
I think Mark wants to set his mom free from the bs he has to go through. If it meant that Debbie would live a normal, happy life, I'm sure Mark wouldn't mind if he never existed.
Nolan is the epitome of “if he wanted to he would”
“Hey babe let’s take a trip to Columbia”
builds an island
Debbie really is such a strong person being able to deal with all of that for so many years and still want to be with Nolan.
I mean the fact that her love actually changed a Viltrimite is still amazing to me. It truly speaks to Debbie’s strength as a person.
1:16 hits different man!
Real pet moment.
Poor Debbie.
I feel like we missed a good story of Nolan acting like Son Goku
Nolan seems more like Vegeta to me.
Nolan is just Goku if he never hit his head lol
@@999-raiden yeah definitely
The voice acting from Steven Yeun and Sandra Oh in this scene is just so perfect you can have all the action, drama etc but this feels a lot grounded too and I that's what I love about Invincible it seperates from most animated superhero animated and live action series
I’m honestly shocked she feels in connection with Oliver you would think she would just feel indifferent to him
Oliver might've reminded Deb of Mark when he was a baby. Considering how viltrumite hybrids tends to look like their viltrumite parent.
Nolan: If flower good and flower plant then bigger plant better (casually rips off a three)
Vegeta vibes
Damn I never thought about it like that.
I mean Vegeta does love his family it’s just he doesn’t show it properly
@@inlaidaniki2999so does nolan what thats why he said vegeta vibes
Dbz never focused on romance though.
@@viziG0th1 that’s true but Nolan shows proper love to his son Vegeta doesn’t
I thought these were weird questions to ask… Debbie loves her family unconditionally and Mark should know that
He's asking her because of his relationship with Amber. She was with a powerfull superhero who would go away on missions most of the day everyday and sometimes even for days, weeks if not MONTHS without any form of contact with each other, he wants to have a look from the other side of the relationship
These are VERY common questions to ask in regards to realtionship advice from a parent. Especially so when the child comes from a broken home.
Mark is just asking for reference on how to proceed with Amber.
This is kind of similar to Goku and Chichi relationship.
Goku only values Chi Chi as a source of good food
More Vegeta and Bulma, since Nolan is more similar to Vegeta than Goku.
Omni man is Vegeta when he hit his son many times while the Debbie is a Bulma but little rich
@@bladekaz8413 to someone who never watched the show this implies goku regularly consumed chi chi

i love hearing stuff about nolan getting used to earth's culture, him bringing debbie a tree instead of flowers because "tree is big flower, so better" is amazing
I ABSOLUTELY loved both dialogues in the backyard, top tier for me, it gives SOOOOOOO much depth to Debbie compared to the comics.

My parents had an arranged marriage then had me so I was dead when marks mom was like do you think we just got married and had you
Damn good answer.
So Nolan was a himbo 😂
He surely learnt a lot feom his "pet"
Is it ethical for Mark to date any human who's not super and put them through this?
Even if they accept the cost. Even if they make that choice. Is it okay? And would someone who's okay with being alone most of the time with only a brief nearly estranged relationship... is that really a relationship?
Whatever it's not even Canon, they should have broken up around episode 4 or 5 of s1 and I think it's because he just can't make enough time for her.
@@colin8696908She almost died due to being in Mark's dangerous life. That's another main reason why the relationship was never going to work.
stop yapping 😂. mark is the one who's gonna suffer the most cause he will live thousands of years. his friends, girlfriend all will pass away before he even turns 30. he is the one who has to live with this emotions for couple hundred years.
Debbie knows that this whole experience was like a blessing in disguise, because although Nolan turned out to be a genocidal maniac who lied to her for 20 years through that experience she had Mark, and so it’s a hard question to ask because in retrospect you’d like for that thing that turned out to be bad to have not happened but at the same time you look at the great things that that life has given you and it makes you doubt that you actually would want to trade that for a different life
You know, I almost asked the same que to my mum, I mean, if it weren’t for us, she could’ve be the boss’s assistants taking care of hundreds of employees, getting better paid, getting respect from people instead of earning meager wages for the same 30 plus years under my dad. I didn’t want to ask her that, it would be rude to me and my brother, n sister. I wouldn’t want to not exist, but I wouldn’t want her to be unhappy. I know she will be happier without us, but I love my siblings and wouldn’t exchange for the world.
Great scene.
wholesome
I like the way he asked that question, it must be that time in the anime for Mark and Amber’s break up… makes sense it’s too dangerous dating someone who isn’t a superhero when you got your own alien race threatening war
Another thing to consider: Nolan was the most powerful and dangerous person/creature anywhere outside of other Viltrumites or whatever. Anissa shows up during a date and he actually can stop her if he wants to. But she wouldn't show up because...Nolan was On The Clock.
Mark might be the strongest and fastest Earthling right now but he isn't "The Danger."
Lois Lane and Debbie Grayson were safe because Superman or Omniman would keep them safe. And they could. Because no one was stronger than them. That changes the equation. It is the same reason WonderBat works. Batman MIGHT have problems with Wonder Woman's Rogues Gallery but she wouldn't with his.
Why did she lie to him, she should have just said no. Mark would understand. I too would understand if i was in his shoes.
Outro song?
😅 I don't know pet could talk
I mean what's wrong with a tree? Mans could literally plant it in the back yard too lmao..shidddd ill take a few trees that grow fruit😂
As a son of a Control Freak, Criminal and Felon father that grew up with a single parent for more than a decade and there being issues in the family, I think of questions like this and wonder the same thing, if my dad and me gone would've been better for my mom, the permanent mark I come from a bad and problematic dad included.
It would’ve been nice to see what she’s describing.
Nah bro Filip Schaff in this ep told us the best part about limited animation isn’t about seeing Nolan wooing Debbie with a giant oak tree, it’s all about showing us slides and “better” drawings. Just look at that night sky! Impressed right? 😂
@@LosOjosTristes shut up.

I don't know, it's funnier to imagine it.
I think deep down Debbie wishes never met Nolan after all the bad things he did and she better with a normal man after all.
Dang!
Title needs a full stop somewhere in the middle. Sounds like she dated all of them.
Even if two of them are the same and the other two are them.
Weird question to ask your mother
I think a lot of us who are the result of, well, not great relationships have had these conversations with our parents
Not really
@@carlycrays2831 Yeah I have an idea of what that feels like. The answer you get can hurt sometimes.
Honestly it really isn't since kids who go through their father not being there for days at a time for any reason or abuse wonder if he was always like this.
It can also be asking their father about their mother for whatever reason since nobody is perfect.

Noland and Debbie are a perfect example of why this scenario of a superpowered woman falling in love with a human woman would never work out...
I think you may have made a typo there my guy.
Yeah, but Invincible is more realistic about these kinds of things as opposed to DC, which is more fantasy.
They have been married and had kids since at least the 1960s lmao.
What in the world are you talking about? Superman can be with Lois because he has a human mindset even if he is Kryptonian. Nolan can't be with Debbie because he was a racial supremacist 😂😂
On top of that, Nolan ends up loving Debbie in the end in the comics. It's his entire arc

I like how the writing constantly tries to make Debbie look like a deep and insightful person, but the reality is she dated a tall, jacked super strong handsome guy without really knowing anything about him just because she is your average shallow woman who goes for looks only and then gets abused by assholes.
