    Great opening piece! Terrific overview, thanks for that! Like it a lot and would consider it for the studio for sure. If I were playing live I'd probably go for the original Brigadier because it has a Tap switch - sorta essential for live stuff, I think. I have the Flint & Big Sky and they both cover my reverb needs and the Deco is cool - the double track '2 tape machines' approach is great and if you widen the gap you can get a very lush, natural sounding chorus and also a nice single 'slapback' which is very usable!

    Loving the Strymon 'mini' series. I have a Timeline - and it's great. But sometimes you just want it small and simple. I also got the Cloudburst and the Ultraviolet. I'm hoping they do a flanger in the same format next up :) I have two boards and Strymon is all over them both (took a long time to afford!) but they are so worth it for the transparency. Front end though is always Thorpy FX. What a combo.

Because you're a wonderful guitarist but an exceptional composer artist .. i will always regret how music evolved, since people prefer not to pay to listen LP and made the choice of mp3 instead of audio pure....i regret because it implies that musicians like you, have to do so much things instead of artistic creations .... How would you compare The Brig specifically in regards to warmth and vintage EVH style (and other) sounds vs the Echoplex delay pedal ? Or would you say that one is better for the studio for exploration and the other for the stage board rig? Love to hear your thoughts! Thanks Pete!!

    • @PeteThorn
      @PeteThorn  9 месяцев назад +1

      This would be darker than an Echoplex style delay, I think, generally. A complex delay is journaling, a little brighter, a little less “analog” and more tape which is brighter, crunchy

  • @peaceman7321

    Pete, Are you running that into the front of your amp, or in the loop? I think you said toward the end that it's simulated as if into the front of your stereo amps. I usually don't like the tone i get when running my delay into the front-end of the amp. The repeats are weird sounding usually.

    How many analog delays do we need!

  • @AlainHubert
    @AlainHubert 6 месяцев назад

    I finally bought this pedal and I'm using it with synthesizers, stereo synthesizers. And, although it has stereo input and output, and a Stereo/Stereo selector switch on the back, the delayed signal is NOT stereo. It creates a "stereo effect" when the mod knob is raised, but it's a fake stereo done with a phasing effect. Only the dry signal will get passed through in full stereo, but the delay signal is MONO only. In other words, it doesn't have a dual delay line emulation. In MULTI mode, however, the pedal will have multiple delay lines panned left and right in the stereo field, but it's from the summed-up stereo signal from the input. Again, not a true stereo pedal. I bought this instead of the Boss DM-101 because the DM-101 only has a mono input. The Brig is advertised as being stereo, and it's not really. Buyers beware. My Boss RE-202 is fully stereo, meaning it has 2 separate delay lines (or virtual tape heads in this case) one for each channel.
    P.S. Small footnote on the Strymon Brig, which sounds really good, it is the first pedal that I've encountered in over 30+ years that runs warm after being on for more than half an hour... strange. It's not hot or anything, it's just not as cold as all my other pedals...
