You’re 100% accurate…the water pump does not last much beyond 100,000 miles.
My 2018 Civic EXT (with an immaculate maintenance record) started leaking from the weep hole at 117,000 miles. I’m scheduled to change the water pump and the drive belt next week.

How much did it cost you, for parts and labor, in total? Just wanted to know if I’m not being ripped off.
My 2003 ford ranger still has its original water pump until a couple weeks ago. The dealership quoted me at $900ish for parts and labor combined.

On mine, no visible signs, coolant smell, upper coolant hose is hot. Weird noise coming from engine. Visible dry squirt mark on plastic mass air flow cover. Possible squirting out of water pump weep hole. 110k miles on 23 year old truck.

Will a brand new pump make any type of noise occasionally? I’ve heard some ppl say that it will until the “new” wears off. I have a 96 LeSabre with 118k. I just completed new pump, coolant change, new hoses, valve cover gaskets and grommets. But, the new pump sounds like it’s making a little noise intermittently. Or, it might be my serpentine belt that has a little coolant on it. I didn’t take the belt completely off because I have to remove an engine mount bolt by removing the front wheel and plastic shield. I had the belt moved out of the way but it may have gotten coolant on it. The car is running great. No leaks anywhere. And the noise is not all the time. Coolant is circulating good, heat works and no leaks. Thoughts please?

I drain/refill the radiator once a year. No need to do coolant flushes.
    Cheap insurance.

My truck over heats when idling buy as soon as I accelerate whether on neutral or running it goes down. I've changed thermostat, fan clutch radiator but not the water pump. What would you recommend?

    • @kevinhancock4064

Almost similar to me . I lost heat inside on Idle . But my exp tank was full from rad . This shouldn't happen did you get yours sorted?

@Kevin Hancock yes, it was the head gasket. I went to harbor freight and bought a gasket kit. It's a tube and a blue liquid. It'll tell you right away rather that replacing all those items.

Hi Paul , can installing a new radiator cause damage to the water pump? Cause i drove only 5 minutes to my house after getting a new radiator and my water pump was leaking . My mechanic denies he's at fault .

I’ve never heard of a water pump being damaged from replacing a radiator. Is it possible in addition to having your leaky radiator replaced the water pump was already leaking? A leaky water pump can go from just a small unnoticeable leak to a bad leak very quickly.

The wisest thing to do would be to have it towed to someone who can fix it.

If the temp goes high, the thermostat is stuck closed.
Turn on the heater/fan to full high and wait for the temp to start going down and then drive home.
Happened to my car last year while I was driving home. The temp went below high and nothing was damaged.
