    For those needing some extra proof points, studies show that diaphragmatic breathing exercises do increase the pressure of your Lower Oesophageal Sphincter (LES). The exercise that was recommended to me was to inhale for four seconds and exhale for eight seconds (using the belly breathing the man in the video is talking about).Three five-minute sessions a day.

    You are not going to believe this.........I've had really bad gerd for over a year now. Most of the time I also get spasms in my lower abdomen, similar to hiccups. It's so annoying. Can't sleep etc. Difficult to exercise. I've had them(spasms hiccups from GERD)this time for over a day and a half. I watched this video, tried the simple first exercise, and my spasms / hiccups went away immediately after the first or second deep breath. First came a big dry heave. Then gone!! Unbelievable! What an absolute genius. Had to come and comment here to thank you. You've helped me to cure my R-CPD (which also caused/exacerbated GERD in turn) and I'm hoping this leads to a revelation for that disorder as well. Your video was a huge light bulb moment for me.
    R-CPD is a condition which renders you unable to belch. I'd only found out this condition had a name and it was the cause of all my issues a couple of weeks ago. Within two days of watching your video, I'd managed to alleviate the pressure from my diaphragm and wound up inducing my first burps with heat therapy on my abdominal region, then leaning onto various objects to help my diaphragm to give a proper push to force the UES to open up. Now I can just burp on command without doing anything! What an incredible and vital organ the diaphragm truly is. It's like the central hub of the entire body and affects circulatory, gastrointestinal, pulmonary, and even nervous systems alike.
    I can't thank you enough for this revelation, and I hope it can help many others in the future. I am preaching about this constantly on the R-CPD subreddit. What an amazing person you are! Truly can't express my gratitude enough! Years and years of suffering is now behind me. I am currently refeeding and continuing to heal. You've cured me and fixed my life. You are a saint, and an incredibly intelligent person.

    • @InPerpetuum-wb2sd
      @InPerpetuum-wb2sd 3 месяца назад +1

      @@bhaveshsharma8422 Hard to say, but I can't imagine it would hurt! How could it possibly be bad? It's so good for overall GI health, among other benefits. I had issues with gas/stomach fluids gurgling in the center chest cavity a lot which also caused me shortness of breath and heart palpitations. This video helped me to cure myself, because it got me focusing on the diaphragm! There is no doubt in my mind! I also did other things, but they were all focused on my diaphragm, posture, muscle tension, and colon. Heat therapy helped me as well. I also did some yoga. Massages might help too, who knows.
      Just make sure you focus on the posture correction aspect, and don't just do exercises alone. Mitigating further damage is just as important as rehabilitating your organs & muscles. Try to sit/take positions where you can easily and naturally breathe in a way that causes your diaphragm to flex more while at rest. Your belly will expand outward as you inhale if you're doing it right. It should feel comfortable, not strenuous. Relaxing with your head back in a recliner seems like a good position for this, as well as sitting on the knees in seiza/wariza style. Arching your back a bit at times seems to help too. And of course, don't forget to keep moving around a bit! Get all that stuff in your body to start moving, including your blood flow! Don't strain yourself too much either though! Good luck!

    Your understanding is wrong. But there is truth in what you say. My posture is very good pretty much all the time. I'm very conscious of it even when i eat i try not to bend. The hearthburn comes from the stomach acid in your stomach that travels up and the problem is not that it's tight, but the fact that its loose. This is due to nervs not working and low stomach acid, which keep the valve open. So through those exercises you will make them stronger and get the nerves alive again. Considering that the diaphragm is a muscle and the stomach is a muscle, the will start working together exactly at the junction there. The picture shows the anatomy beautifully. I had a revelation.

    I always thought deep diaphram breathing was to breath into your lower abdomen? It feels weird at first and can actually make you dizzy. When you do that you want to breath downstairs and push out. This is simply taking deep breaths that go wide on the top of the chest. Confused? Thanks for your time and consideration.

      Good question ... thank you ...
      Deep abdominal breathing exercises are designed to help the diaphragm work more efficiently ... this in turn helps the oesophageal valve to function better ... to help more specifically with valve issues I would recommend Glottis exercises which target a deeper resonating breath out.

I did more than one gastric endoscopy, and in the last endoscopy, the doctor told me that you have relaxation in the mouth of the stomach or the diaphragm. He assured me that I do not need it. I need an operation, but there is only relaxation, and I am honestly tired of this situation. What should I do to get the muscle back strong???

      These exercises are safe to do as often as possible and in particular just before eating.

      If it’s hard to breathe, then you most likely have LPR (laryngeal pharyngeal reflux) or “silent reflux”. If you’re having breathing trouble then you need to figure out what you’re eating that’s triggering the reflux.

    Um, no... By the way, I sing and play guitar full-time for a living, and I can’t even conceive what you’re talking about. But I do know that this problem has to do with low stomach acid and/or low amount of digestive enzymes. When I get this problem, acid reflux, I just take a couple of teaspoons of organic apple cider vinegar with the mother, stirred into six or 8 ounces of water, drink it down quickly, and everything goes away in about five or 10 minutes. But easier than what this gentleman is telling people to do.

    • @challengephysio

      Thanks for the contribution ... sounds as if you're referring to Hypochlorhydria, low stomach acid, causing your symptoms of Acid Reflux. In which case, increasing the acidity with ACV and frequently feeding your gut bacteria should help you.
      The diaphragmatic exercises are great for all to try, helping to induce down-regulation and great for relaxation in stressful times, but are particularly helpful for those sufferers of Acid Reflux as result of restricted diaphragmatic expansion and subsequent esophageal sphincter weakening.
