I still think that the 5.2" LG G2 I owned a decade ago was the perfect size for a phone. It was big without being unwieldy. And then they just kept growing after that
I really miss that sweet spot of 5.5-5.7" phones. The iPhone mini was the most exciting iPhone in years, and they killed it off after two generations because they failed to market it correctly. Contrary to popular belief, there IS demand for smaller devices. The problem is that it's more expensive to cram all the best stuff into a small package, and it's easier for companies to say, "bigger size = charge more money." Device manufacturers are creating 'demand' through marketing, and not listening to their customers.
@@majestikmoose9 but are you aware of the fact that an average midrange/flagship 5.5" screen phone from about 4-5 years ago is more or less exactly the same size as a modern 6.1/6.2"" screen size s23/S24, Pixel 8 and others?

Funny thing is the S24 is essentially the same size as the Zenfone 10 (147 x 70.6 x 7.6 mm vs 146.5 x 68.1 x 9.4 mm). So had a Zenfone 11 come out, it would be likely have been the same size as the S24. Honestly it's why I went with the S24 personally. Phones are way too big and heavy and the S24 is smaller than a Pixel 9 and it weighs 30g less as well (168g vs 198g). Also the reviewer doesn't really talk about this but because the S24's camera bump is way thinner, if you use your phone with a case, the case tends to add less thickness to the phone as they dont need to increase the case thickness to protect the cameras.
Samsung S24 Snapdragon ftw! Longevity and chip reliability above all else for everyday use up to 7 years! My S10+ lasted me 5 years before upgrading to the S24 and it is still running up to this day over a year past its last update!
I'd give it to the 9 pro, because of its battery life and camera performance. The tiny sensor behind Samsung's 3x shooter is embarrassing and not contemporary. Furthermore you can't get the Snapdragon model here in Europe. The S24 is a good phone, but I'd compare it to an iPhone 15 rather than any pro phone, because the camera is lacking features for a 899€ phone (macro mode and out of date tele cam).

I've been daily driving a Pixel 5 until my phone screen broke a week ago and the cost to replace the screen was just not worth it. I did a ton of research and personally settled with the S24. I honestly wanted the Zenfone 11 but there is no Zenfone 11 this year (unless you count the ultra). Zenfone 10 exists but Asus only promised 2 years of major Android updates and we're already over one year in for the Zenfone 10. The S24 was the closest in terms of weight and size to the Pixel 5 which was my main reason why i chose it over the Pixel 9. I test drove my partner's Pixel 7 for a week since it is effectively the same size as a Pixel 9 and I just could not get over how heavy it was (maybe I'm just weak). The good news is due to reduced screen bevels the S24 despite having a larger screen to the Pixel 5 is almost the same exact size (it's 2mm taller and that's it). Unfortunately it is a bit heavier though (151g for Pixel 5 vs 168g for S24). Been using it for a week now. I can definitely notice that the S24's camera has some weaknesses to it but it's good enough.
@juvonycool I have never had the Pixel 9 or 9 Pro, but I've used both the s23 and pixel 8, and from what I saw the Pixel 9 is only different in terms of design, and maybe that's a huge aspect to some people, and I think it should be because the pixel 8 in terms of hardware did not feel like a flagship, to be completely honest. Since you have the Pixel 9 in hand, and you think that it's so much better, I can't argue with you and say it's not, because it's your preference and also you have the actual device. I said that the s23 is better in my opinion, because really the only difference I can see is the new design, and it still have the inferior tensor chip, which means that the promised 7 years of updates means nothing much.
@juvonycool I've had both. Tried too upgrade to P9 Pro from my S23 and I saw no reason to "upgrade". Galaxy screen seems brighter (might have to do with also the Anti glare on S23?). Speakers are better on S23. The S23 is smaller with no giant camera bump. S23 is just snappier and less buggy. P9 Pro already started having issues with apps closing on me :( And most critically for me, S23 charges twice as fast as 45W vs 27W. You just can't call 27W "fast charging" especially in a "flagship". @androidpolice ... I don't understand how you can say the Pixel 9 Pro has equivalent or better charging? Did you really test that? It's a huge difference as I mentioned above.
One thing that few seem to mention is that the Pixel doesn't rock back and forth on the desk/table when it is laying on it and one tries to use it. It does make it a bit hard to type when the phone is moving back and forth.
Yeah right, people can literally get a bigger screen tablet to watch content, but for phone calls, payments and everyday use no need of phones that big, the iPhone mini was the best when it came to the compact form factor, I wish they made more flagship phones that size.
I love the Pixel, but from a value and performance standpoint, I would buy the 256GB S24, a nice case, screen protector and a year of Samsung care for the same price
There's also currently massive sales currently running all the time for the S24 which makes the price difference even worse. @benni16it 6 .3" screen means it is NOT a small or compact phone and the 9 Pro is $999 so again it should be put up against the s24+ because that is the class size of the device. Mismatching will not make the phone any better, especially when you can get an Ultra for $999.🫢

Stop calling 6" phone as small/compat.. Compact/small is 5.5" and below... above that is just regular size phone.. 68mm width is maximum for "compact" phone..

There are no compact phones nowadays, phones used to be phones & meant to be kept in the pockets back in the day, unfortunately phones got extinct. These are just tablets in my eyes. Smartphone companies are just forcing us to buy their giant tablets.
Pixel is a simple phone, but it lacks customization options. Samsung offers more customization options, allowing users to change the look and feel of their phone. Samsung's cameras are also more pleasant to use, and the AI is great. The screen is also better for my taste. 5:24
Unfortunately we don't know how long we have to wait for the Pixel 9 Pro, at least for Canada. It was not in Google store at launch an up to now it can't be pre-ordered. You can only registered to be notified when it's available.
Samsung real perk- Samsung dex... thats it. Pixel perks - its a pro phone all around, better camera, software, ai, design, screen.. its worth it. Both are but i lean towards pixel since theres a lot of quirks that just work easily there
My answer is Asus ZenTen - I am rocking it right now as one of my EDCs - BUT I bowed out as soon as you announced Exynos in the S24 - would NEVER buy anything with that chip in!
My Pixel 8 has a Latercase, to keep the slim form factor and no screen protector because of the fingerprint reader(my Pixel 2's was miles better). If i hadn't already gone from the 6 to the 8, the 9 pro would be very tempting.
Tbh, many of Samsung's photos look more pleasant to my eyes - there's more "excitement" in the colours. Edit: If I was in the market for one of these, I would pick the Samsung, just because it's cheaper; they seem so close in nearly every regard
Main issue with Pixel phones is they are missing bunch of features that are exclusive to USA, which is shame. Also S24 can be found for less money so in some cases it is 300euros difference which is not small. But yes if you want best camera, Pixel is the way :) and as always best phone reviews, I am glad you made it this far from your room and used market reviews :)
I think in 2024 all these phones out there are pretty good and powerful enough for most of the task someone might need. so why not choosing the device you personally love the most?! I like the vanilla Android version and the philosophy behind the Google devices so I'd go with Pixel.
What's the point that the pixel will be supported for 7 years when its processor is already two generations behind. In this comparison, clearly the S24 Snapdragon. The Snapdragon variant is even more powerful and, above all, has 20% better battery life than the Exynos. So the endurance will be very similar to the Pixel. The only thing Pixel is definitely better at is photos. You forgot to mention a very important thing, the AI functions of the Pixel do not work to a greater extent if you have a language other than English.
But at the time of this video you could get mint conditioned pre owned s24 around 500 bucks. With that in mind it makes it sort of a layup in regards to value. Used pixel 9s wont be a thing till around November 2024.
i'm gonna admit, i've never held a s24 in my own hand, but it looks so much like the mid range a55 that it makes me hate it. It is probably built way better than the a55 but it looks the same, its like samsung only wants you to get the s24 ultra so they are making the s24 look like their mid range phone.
No way Pixel's overall camera performance is better. Samsung had a PDAF on its phone's frontal camera in pair with 4k60 fps video at least since galaxy s10, main camera module also got way better video stabilization than any pixels. I don't think pixel 9/pro can stand a camera comparison even with s22
I think you've lost your mind.. The s24 is better and more powerful.. Even the s23 is better.. Chipset is everything and both the s23 and s24 kill the pixel 9 in terms of raw power

Samsung camera is exactly same for models half the price ( m & a series) and you cant even make it out unless you have it in hand
Nice video! Small phone enjoyer here too, glad to see I am not alone! Do the phones get hot when using android auto or google maps, is one better than the other?
Why didn't you compare the S24 to the regular Pixel 9?
I agree. This should've been a comparison with both base models.
I disagree, cus it said the "best" small phone
Also, the S24 has a comparable camera setup with the ultra wide, wide and zoom.
Why I do I feel every RUclipsr tech geek are all team pixel never say about word about google phones but real world s24 sells 20 million phones pixel sell about 20 thousand maybe people don’t care about the android experience or clean software or the camera as long as it’s takes a good photo for Facebook and makes phone calls simple as 👍
@@Chris-dw3xlMaybe that's because the average user is not the most discerning. They just look for the Samsung or Apple logos. I've seen people using the iPhone X in 2024 thinking they've better phones than someone using an S23, lol. I went from a pixel 5 to S22 and once it gets old, I'm going back to Pixel. Samsung's software just looks unpolished in a few simple areas you would think are obvious.
It's a bad comparison to begin with.
The right competition for the GP9P is the S24+, and S24 for the GP9- not the Pro version.
What! Pixel 9 pro V S24 and not the S24+😂😂😂😂
Team Pixel not looking for a fair fight.😅
"small" phone.. hard to understand^^
@benni16it The pixel 9 is smaller and at just to reinforce that Point. The 9 pro sits right in between of the two Samsungs in size but is heavier than the S24+, so the Pixel Pro can't be classed as SMALL.🤫
@@malidan1196 pixel 9 and pixel 9 pro are the same size, 6,3" and s24 is 6,2"... and you want to compare 6,3" with 6,7" because of the weight.. pixel 9 pro xl vs s24 ultra...
@benni16it 6 .3" screen means it is NOT a small or compact phone and the 9 Pro is $999 so again it should be put up against the s24+ because that is the class size of the device.
Mismatching will not make the phone any better, especially when you can get an Ultra for $999.🫢
@@malidan1196 but 6.2" is compact and fine? the pixel 9 is just i tiny bit larger the the s24... the weight, i agree its noticabe. the new pixels are all way too expensive, just wait a bit, the price will go down. ive seen the pixel 9 256gb for 799€ already (msrp 999€).
I use iPhone 15 for work. But need an Android phone for personal use. Which smartphone would you suggest?
$200 price jump in pixel 9 pro is just crazy
Pixel clear winner ❤
For extra $200
Makes sense. It's the newer phone and starts the next cycle. The main competitor will be the s25
It's not, the s24 has a better processor and faster storage while being cheaper.
@@iLuseMy1v1s a better processor is only as a good as the cooling and the user
@@Granny_Gaming yep, the s24 has a dedicated vapor chamber too.
Me jumping from pixel 5 to Samsung s22
And seeing the world of customization and features in S series phones, it is a no brainer for me to go for S24. And S24 is a lot more compact than pixel 9
Ps. I've tested pixel 7 as well and that's still barebones next to S series
This seems to be completely biased towards google. First of all, based on the price, wouldn't the 24+ be the right comparison? Also Samsung is the only one offering 7yrs of updates, not both. And you left out on the key Samsung ai feature, Circle to search
S24 for Sure! Would love to Try the Pixel 9pro but it is still tooo HEAVY and price to high at the mo!
S24 can do everything pretty well but is smaller, lighter & cheaper!
S10e or iphone 13 mini, depending on your needs.
Went for the S23 at $500 it was the better deal.
I got a 9 pro XL and I love it. The price is way too high, but I had a phone to trade so I got a great deal. I prefer the software on the pixel phones. Samsungs are nice, but I find they are bloated with unnecessary software. It's a personal opinion, I'm sure some people think the opposite.
Like for 5.6 inch display Smartphones.
The base pixel would've been a better comparison
Agreed but id assume it would destroy the samsung too. The only difference is that 12gb ram and the lack of that 5x telephoto lens
Stop calling 6" phone as small/compat.. Compact/small is 5.5" and below... above that is just regular size phone.. 68mm width is maximum for "compact" phone..
By that logic no phones are compact except iphone SE.
@@mehshutup3041 it is what it is.. your hand dont grow any bigger.
I am so confused between these two. Currently the 512gb S24 is $500 less than pixel 9pro
Using a Samsung J5 (Android 9) and a S4 (Lineage android 12). Both with additional memory and a headphone jack. Never again will I fall for these big expensive shit bricks. Also, big bezels look really pretty!
The day people realize they’re addicted to social media, REAL compact phones will return
So probably never
There are no compact phones nowadays, phones used to be phones & meant to be kept in the pockets back in the day, unfortunately phones got extinct. These are just tablets in my eyes. Smartphone companies are just forcing us to buy their giant tablets.
6.0" definitely isn't a compact phone size about 9 years ago
the display ratio is different. 16 by 9 makes them hard to be compact
Nothing beats s24 sd3 for compact, Zenfone 10 would be 1st except for the camera.
Pixel is a simple phone, but it lacks customization options. Samsung offers more customization options, allowing users to change the look and feel of their phone. Samsung's cameras are also more pleasant to use, and the AI is great. The screen is also better for my taste. 5:24
Give me a new s10e. Even that isn't small, but it is compared to these "compact" phones.
"Isn't absolutely huge" does not equal small.
I'd pick the S24. But only the Snapdragon version. I'll be sticking with my S23 until Samsung sees the error of its ways :)
My Pixel 8 has a Latercase, to keep the slim form factor and no screen protector because of the fingerprint reader(my Pixel 2's was miles better). If i hadn't already gone from the 6 to the 8, the 9 pro would be very tempting.
This comparison is completely unfair. The comparison should be the Base Pixel 9 vs S24
But it ain't about price, but size.
And Samsung doesn't have a compact ultra phone.
@@alexanderrau6356The Pixel 7 was almost the same size as the S22 Plus, but it was never compared to the S22 Plus 🤷🏽♂️
Actually, these are the two phones I'm considering. Because of size 👌
The S24 has a camera more than the Pixel 9. The pro is the right choice
Tbh, many of Samsung's photos look more pleasant to my eyes - there's more "excitement" in the colours.
Edit: If I was in the market for one of these, I would pick the Samsung, just because it's cheaper; they seem so close in nearly every regard
What about Xiaomi 14 ?
You should make a comparison video
this. Upgraded from the S24 to the Xiaomi 14 here
@@giusetup Is Xiaomi 14 better ?

Unihertz Jelly Max
Google can stick that underpowered Tensor in their algorithm
PIxel 9 Pro should go up against S24 Ultra not the regular S24
Sony 10vi has better audio, 3.5mm headphone socket, SD card slot, lighter, easier to hold and insane battery life (double the pixel 8a).
In 2012 my galaxy note 2 was a gigantic phone with 5.5" screen. Today 6.1" is a compact phone 😅
Its personal preferences. I will choose s24 anyday.
Should be compared to the Regular 9, but the pro is too expensive for sure
Main issue with Pixel phones is they are missing bunch of features that are exclusive to USA, which is shame. Also S24 can be found for less money so in some cases it is 300euros difference which is not small.
But yes if you want best camera, Pixel is the way :) and as always best phone reviews, I am glad you made it this far from your room and used market reviews :)
6:10 bruh its pixles camra is just like its speaker , its go deep but dosent have detail to it like the samsung
I think in 2024 all these phones out there are pretty good and powerful enough for most of the task someone might need. so why not choosing the device you personally love the most?! I like the vanilla Android version and the philosophy behind the Google devices so I'd go with Pixel.
Phones are too big and heavy nowadays. That's why I buy them as often. With SiC batteries they should be making them smaller again but they're not
Crazy how you think 6.1 is compact.
The 9 pro is much more expensive, even the regular 9 is more expensive since you can get today great deals on the S24.
Oneplus police's 12 is on the desk off camera writing the next video on why the 12 is better than the 9 pro XL.
The samsung look so premium it look so nice👌
Im trading my regular s23 for a pixel 9 pro. I dont like One UI. Stock Android is way better
The last "best" small Android phone is the one I'm holding in my hand - the Google Pixel 5
i'm gonna admit, i've never held a s24 in my own hand, but it looks so much like the mid range a55 that it makes me hate it. It is probably built way better than the a55 but it looks the same, its like samsung only wants you to get the s24 ultra so they are making the s24 look like their mid range phone.
Pixel 9 Pro of course. Hands down.
It doesn't, worst processor and storage speeds while being 200$ higher.
Pixel is unusable in India. It has serious network issues and heating issues during summer. Samsung is a lot more reliable.
These phones are NOT in the same size/ weight category. 200+ grams is insane.
asus zenfone best. ❤
If they make a compact Zenfone every 2-3 years, I would actually support them
Pixel on SOOOOO many levels.
Check Xiaomi 14
"While you're down there".....
Xz2 compact is better. The curve concaved back and balance chin/bezel. Wish they made another version
Love my S24
Why are your videos always about Pixel and Samsung....the best Small Android phone right now is the Xiaomi 14. Hands down...have you used it?
