Use peanut butter in your traps and build yourself a good multitrap, lots of ideas on RUclips. I live remote and had similar issues, the wild birds had some good dinners on me.

One of my old neighbours used to have about 8 cats, there was one really big gnarly boy who had one eye, I'd call him pirate cat. He looked like he could handle himself 😆

Oh man, nothing like a cliff hanger ending. Do we really have to wait until next week to find out if it's sorted? Just like the old days of waiting a week to see the next episode of a TV show, kids these days just don't understand it. Anyway, hopefully you did get it sorted. Always the way with wiring. One wire at a time.
If it starts, you might get some errors now because you powered up the van without your steering angle sensor and airbag.

If it works it will be amazing and a phenomenal job. But if it didn't work first time it would be difficult to diagnose the fault.
There was a time Mercedes had wiring with nsulation the mice loved - bio degradable, made from starch or some such nonsense. But I don't know if they still use it.
Hopefully you will find a way to keep the blighters out of places they aren't wanted,.....probably the peanuts weren't such a good idea!! 👍

It's a job I couldn't, lol..... before you bolt down check you don't need bulbs in the dashboard replacing 😂😂
😂🤣 you can actually just hook and pull out the clocks surprisingly, no screws or anything!
Looks like a nightmare. If you get it working, I'd strongly recommend replacing those connector blocks or they'll cause you more headaches further down the line once a bit of moisture gets to them. Can't beat solder and heatshrink.
I do actually have some heat shrink so I could just put it over the top maybe 🤔
And there’s those ones which have the solder already inside the heat shrink and just need heating up. Some RUclipsrs have been enthusing about them.
Blimey, there's no way I'd be using them in that tight space 🙈

Out of curiosity how much do you think an auto electrician would charge for this? This is the sort of job which justifies paying a professional as its complicated af. Somethings are DIY but you got to weigh up the effort, time and the freezing cold weather vs getting it done properly. That being said I'm hoping you get this sorted as it would be a huge achievement.
Humm I would say a mobile auto electrician is probably charging £50 an hour. I doubt they would know how to take the dash out so would probably do the same as me....ermm I'm gonna say a grand maybe? 🤷 That's if they actually fix it 😆 🤫
