- Let's compare the Logitech MX Master 3 mouse to the Apple Magic mouse. I'll share my thoughts on ergonomics, functionality and the pros and cons of these mice from the perspective of a software developer. For disclosure, I purchased both of these mice myself.

tip: you can change the scroll direction of your normal scroll wheel by holding the shift key.

I bought a MX Master 3 some time ago and decided to return it, as I had the EXACT same two problems (unintentionally right clicking all the time, and balance feeling off when moving the mouse). That mouse receives so much praise that I was thinking of buying it again, but you made me rembember these issues. Going to go for Magic Mouse! Thanks

Try both people, but I believe Magic Mouse works better on Macs. Perhaps 3S works better on Windows.

So I got my MX Master 3 today. And the thing you told about horizontal scrolling is so true. I ordered the mx master just because of the ergonomics and mainly the horizontal scroll. But man I have to scroll so many times to get where I wanna go. So now I have ordered the Magic Mouse as well. Just to try it out. And hopefully it is better than mx master. I really don’t care about the customisable buttons on the mx mouse that much.
Gotta love the multiple device switching function tho
hopefully they make a version with a better scroll wheel. if they did, i would get one. but until then it's the magic mouse for me. hopefully the magic mouse works out for you too.

100% correct. This is probably the most accurate comparison between the two mice. I have both. I totally agree with the scrolling issue on mx master. Mx master is heavy and right click is a real problem. The multi device switch is so inconvenient on the mx master 3. It's inconvenient to turn the mouse and check/switch devices each time.
Great review! So what do you prefer overall? I'm planning to buy a mouse and I really want the magic mouse 2, but I'm torn between the two.

I've been in the same dilemma (MX vs. MM) for a while so I ended up not buying any mouse for programming yet... :D Do you still stick to the Magic Mouse after more than a year since this video was uploaded?

@@jamescross I’m working from a Mac but on a Windows virtual machine, so I suspect that I wouldn’t be able to use fully the magic mouse. Am I right?
MX for Mac does have the usb dongle, I purchased it. It comes with 1 USBC charging cord. Only difference is the other one also has another USB charging cable, can’t remember which one, but not needed with Mac.

I've just bought a Master 3S after 15 years of using a Magic Mouse. I can't understand why so many people say that Logitech is better. There are too many buttons, and I have to think about which one to press every time. The Magic Mouse has been the same for 15 years, and there is a reason for that. It's so much better. I'll try the Logitech for one week, but then I will send it back to Amazon and get a new Magic Mouse.

Yo! Does the mx master 3 work well with macbook air? Or is it necessary to get the mac version? I'm using windows for work and mac for other stuffs..
the main differences is the windows version comes with the usb dongle which isn't necessary if you use blue tooth. the mac version does not. and the colors of the mouse are different. the regular mx master 3 works fine with macbooks with the limitations i mention in the video. but those are more user preferences.
Awesome! I’ve heard people mention the mouse cursor lags or hops a lot via Bluetooth. Is that still the case today?

@@jamescross just bought the MX mini and the new Mx anywhere 3 I think they improved the issue you were mentioning about the large keyboard and the issue scrolling with the mouse, and the most important for me is to switch between macs work/personal

Magic Mouse is precise accurate, the MX is not and is so heavy! I prefer the Apple one.
i had to get rid of the apple keybords. they hurt my fingertips and as much as i love the magic mouse, It's way to small and dangerous for coding. when i try to select something, the touch functionality is moving the cursor away. this is nuts. tomorrow comes the mx3s
everyone talks about the MS Master ergonomics, but no one review its ergonomics!!!! you say something about the Magic but few about the MX. Can you just review the ergonomics?
not sure what you hope to hear in a lot of ways it's what's comfortable for the individual. it's really comfortable as far as hand position for me. more so than the magic mouse. more weight so you notice that moving it around. downside is the top buttons are super sensitive and easy to click if you are used to resting your fingers on the mouse like with the apple. the scroll wheel is less comfortable imo when compared to swiping on the magic mouse.
Magic mouse is garbage.
Magic mouse is to thin and very uncomfortable to edit with.
MX Master S3 is a much better mouse.
Not buying another magic mouse going with MX Master 3S.
The magic mouse looks like a cheap plastic Fisher Price Toy.
Apple needs to redesign the magic mouse to be to more comfortable and productive.
