I wish valve would have given us the option to choose glossy or etched glass on all of the models :/ but this etched glass actually looks so similar to the glossy anyways! It really surprised me!
I would recommend most people get the 512gb. Highly doubt anyone would be playing outside or with a light right in front of the screen
True, but it is really comfortable in the garden or balcony. And here the 1tb model is really helpful
Ive been watching tons a videos as I am trying to make a decision to buy the SD OLED and i think ill be fine with the 512GB I can also buy more storage and put an antiglare screen protector later anyways.
@@almightyurf3236u’ll be perfectly fine with the 512 model and in case u want to experience that etched screen u can easily buy an etched screen protector! which is amazing! so u definitely don’t have to buy a whole steam deck with etched screen.. just go with the beautiful glossy screen and then apply the etched screen protector if u feel like wanting a change in your screen..
I play outside occasionally in my 512 GB LCD. It's nice being outside, while still having the fun of video games. Though, I have a screen protector, so the etched glass doesn't matter too much. The screen brightness is the biggest factor while playing outside.

But even a glossy screen protector might not bring back the clarity and deeper blacks I'd think which were caused to be affected by the etched screen on the 1TB version.
So, based on that, I think you are stuck with that downside no matter what, while with the 512GB version you got the choice, if you decide to give up the clarity and deeper blacks, by putting on an anti reflective screen protector, likely getting a similar result to the original 1TB one.
It's just that better carrying case which you won't have any choice on with the 512GB version compared to the 1TB one.
Limited for the win.

Glossy OLEDs are just better.
I would personally highly recommend against the matte screen. Matte textures on the screen will make text less crisp and therefore harder to read. It’s already an issue for me that small text on deck can cause significant eye strain. If it’s the case for you, don’t buy matte screen version.
This is a rare exception to that tbh it’s like a semi matte. I tried super hard to find flaws in it because the other one was cheaper but I couldn’t
As i had lcd sd anti glare and oled glossy i love the pc style screen on sd 1tb it's make the fingers and the scratches can't be seeing even though the colors on glossy better

I would be happy with either one. I love my Asus ROG Ally, but those OLED screens are so tempting...

Look at the switch 2.0
It’s leagues above Switch… Nintendo needs to get their shit together, they’re always so behind on Hardware.
And I am a Switch owner. If Steam keeps making handhelds, I’ll abandon Nintendo.
And this is coming from someone who started with Gameboy Color since Childhood, to now owning a Switch which I made look very pretty and fun to hold.
That being said, letting bias and nostalgia cloud judgement instead of having REAL quality, is silly.

The reflections show more on the etched screen lmao because it spreads out the light lmao
The reflections do not show up more. When the screen is on you can’t see your face or reflections at all. With the glossy, even when the screen is on, you can see your face.
