Saw her in concert as a kid back in 1998 during her Ophelia Tour, here in Memphis. After it was over , she gave out flowers outside of the orpheum. Me and my mom met her and talked for about 2 mins. She said I had pretty blue eyes and liked my name. I was like, Natalie Merchant complimented me!!!!!! I didnt want those flowers to die. She was great and even more beautiful in person .

Anybody else here primarily for Jen Turner? (Don't get me wrong...Natalie's voice is the eighth wonder of the world. Jen's guitar playing is the ninth...and tenth.)

Jen Turner is great no doubt and she of course had a role in making Tigerlily as great as it is but there's one common denominator all throughout Natalie's career. Natalie. Her distinct amazing voice, songwriting gift, and the beauty inside and out was the allure to 10kM, and later as a solo artist. She always surrounded herself with amazing talent definitely, but you could plug in another guitar player or a different drummer and it still would have been amazing. Heck she released stuff in 2017 that just became stream able not that long ago that's just artistry. Grab yourself a glass of wine, and throw on Butterfly and enjoy! We're very lucky to have been alive during her career to witness all of its greatness.

Life was never that uncertain, the authoritarians just wanted you to feel that way so they could gain more power over you, which they have succeeded in doing. But, that said, yes, Natalie does bring balance, warmth, and hope to the world, which is why I've been a fan since almost the beginning of her career.

@@BookClubDisaster Custom 22 for sure. Not sure about the Marshall. Also sounds like neck pickup on entire song.

I wonder why Jen Turner only played on that one album. Did Natalie not like that she almost upstaged her she was so great? Was this the Lilith Fair rock version of David Lee Roth and Eddie Van Halen? Inquiring minds want to know!

They met back for the anniversary of the album and you get the sense that Jen was not made for the limelight. She was 19 during the recording and didn’t get that she was supposed to tour for it.

Leno sucked. Gave the same insincere reaction to every musical performance. Letterman often sounded much more enthusiastic if he really liked something. Get the feeling Jay isn't even a big music fan.

Letterman liked Natalie. He had her on 15 times both with 10,000 Maniacs and solo. One time he introduced her as the future Mrs. Letterman.

Watch the Leno and Letterman videos back to back and it's amazing how much looser and intimate the Letterman appearance feels.
