Negative people are the reason this world is in the shape its in today i am glad to hear this speech even if all the fact were not correct. His job was to motivate the kids and win or lose they were motivated.
You can motivate your team without making up a story. There are plenty of real life stories he can tell without butchering the bible. He meant well, and I am sure most of his players never knew he got it all wrong but that's not the point. It is not being negative to point out when a statement is not true. Are you kidding? The media makes a living out of doing that every day. If people did not demand accuracy then we would really be in a pickle.
Now my sophomore year in college. I can say stuff like this makes me wanna play this game one more time. And high school kids who don't know if they wanna play after high school I highly encourage you to chase you dream. I didn't and I regret it so much. The greatest motivational speech I ever heard in my life was quite simple "Guys, I don't care what your motivation for running this race is, whether it be for your team, the past members, us coaches, your dog, your parents, or yourself. Just get it done"
The head coach on a high school team I coached with before the game would some times add an emotional speech but every game he would say something reminding them of the time, sacrifices, and hard work we all have done to prepaid for this night., Believe in yourself, believe in each other, and believe in your coaches, let's go.

Players and assistant coaches hanging on the Head coaches’ every word. Teenage boys on the cusp of becoming men, leaving their school days behind and moving on to a new chapter in their lives. The sport that brought them all together is likely about to end after the season and they share one more game together as a team. The bond they share is evident in their reaction to the coaches’ words and prayer - this is what sport does, this is the power it has. I would guess that some of them will even have their own families and children now and whatever each of them are doing today I would imagine they often think back to these times and this day and look on it with pride and happiness. The coach seems like an amazing man, his players would have left everything out on the field for him and his team, god bless them all.
In the end, when a team creates such a collective mindset during a game, it wins regardless of the score board. That's what's so beautiful about team sports

Indeed the son of Jesse. And he placed his trust in the lord after the uncircumcised Philistine mocked the people of the lord for multiple days in a row.
Some of these negative comments.. if you have nothing nice to say LEAVE! This is so much greater than winning the game. So what if they didn't win? It doesn't matter... The beauty of this is that you can feel their emotions, it is chilling. I strongly believe that if you believe in God you already have the greatest advantage. I am an A and B student at a university, I have failed exams that I prayed for... Yet, I failed to study for that particular exam. You cannot depend on everything to be given to you. It is about meeting Him half way, the other team must of just been better and practiced harder. It is what is inside that is rewarding and peaceful. Do not comment on stuff if you're just going to offend me and the other people who have strong faith. Thank you...
I played in HS I remember those talks right before game time. However I never seen or heard something like that it was powerful and Deep...Nice job coach...

+MJMotorsports Newpass13 Hell yeah. Well said.
Very well said. Its all about believing in yourself.
Yes, I believe those kids will remember the "pre-game speech". I remember many of my coaches "pep talks", from 33 years ago.
Yes they remember an I can bet at least half practice what they heard in their daily life
David was the son of Jesse.Good speech though.
You’re right, but he really got his point across. Great coach man.
And Saul was the king David was chosen to replace, because of Saul's wickedness and disobedience. Samuel was the prophet God sent to call David.
When he said it, my eyebrows raised in confusion 🤨 but it definitely got me hyped
Also, Samuel was not a king
Indeed the son of Jesse. And he placed his trust in the lord after the uncircumcised Philistine mocked the people of the lord for multiple days in a row.
Made my eyes water and goosebumps
Boy you don’t wanna play against a team that is pumped up like this before a game
Whats the song in the background
They would go on to lose 72-0 to the team with the D1 players...
Ik it’s a joke but for anyone wondering they actually lost 31-28
Still watching this years and years later
What a great coach teaching a great life lesson too.
What did he say at the end? But best football speech I've heard
Seth Bayless “Thank god i play for Indian Hill”
-High school in Cincinnati
Lord let us be humble, and close as a team as we huddle together today, we ask that you, with your guiding power, to give us the strength, to withstand injury, and withstand the test, and when the game is over, lord let us know we played our best!
always loved the pumped up prayer
