I lived in Alabama for years. I honestly only saw a couple BBQ restaurants even offer white sauce and you had to ask for it if you wanted it. Mayonnaise does not belong on, in, or near any kind of BBQ
this could be said about half of all other popular sauces.. ranch, halal white sauce, chick fil a sauce, big mac sauce, russian dressing, “garlic aioli”, basically every “secret sauce” or burger sauce

This sauce is actually really solid idk why people are judging without tasting it. Most people don't realize half the sauces they eat contain a boat load of mayonnaise or other fats. I add a bit more flavor to my white BBQ sauce by grating in half a clove of garlic it adds a great depth. Chicken looks banging!

If you are British this is essentially heinz salad cream. With apple vinager, horse radish and worstershire sauce its basically a prawn cocktail sause minus the ketchup and its beautiful.
Mayonnaise and Salad Cream are nothing alike; whether you use salad cream or mayonnaise in a dish is a choice. Prawn Cocktail sauce without the ketchup is just mayonnaise so nothing like this white sauce.

If you sub mayo with ranch, you're subbing mayo with flavored mayo. Vinegar is also a key ingredient of mayo. You don't sub anything - you're just making more mayo using mayo as a base, because you are a mayo base.
