I went backpacking with a group of friends to Chickenfoot Lake via the Little Lakes Valley Trail. We set up camp there and enjoyed a day swimming and kayaking on Chickenfoot lake.
The next day, I hiked alone to Gem Lakes using the Little Lakes Valley Trail. From there, I climbed up to Treasure Lakes before summiting Mount Dade, a 13,501 ft peak, which requires Class 3 and 4 scrambling to reach and descend.
Ran out of phone battery so couldn't record my trail map :[

Spectacular. What a wonderful experience to see all that. Thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it!
The scene at the peak was truly breath taking 🤯
Nice video! Best one I have seen of little lakes ‘til now.
Thanks, means a lot!
Outstanding scenery my friend, this upload is simply stunning!!! 🔥🔥
Thank you, I appreciate it!
What a masterpiece! You’re an absolute legend Paul! Chicken foot really does look how it sounds haha
Haha that's the first thing I thought when I saw it from high up.
great video!! epic shots and POV's man =]
Appreciate it! :D
Best hiking video I’ve ever seen and I haven’t even watched it yet!
Haha grateful for your confidence in me!
Great video. Gives me a little taste of what I should see this week!
Have a great trip!
Do you follow the gem lakes trail to get the view at 13:42 ?
@@anthonyp2580 no, the gem lakes trail ends at the far side of the last gem lake (11:03). To get the view you mentioned, you have to hike off trail to the top of Mt. Dade, which is about 4 miles with 2000+ ft elevation gain.
Thank you!
Nicely crafted video.
Are use using a trails map? When you are hiking solo it’s not really evident your on an established trail, or a lot of the time it’s not.
As I’ve grown older, and bit bit less coordinated and stable I like hiking poles, one in each hand, I rig my pack to cord then on when not in use.
Amazing videos. Thanks. One question what is the starting point of this hike?
Gorgeous!…what brand of kayak did you haul up there?
Which month did u exactly go?
Great hiking and nicely-done vlog. Mind if I ask what camera is used and what app is used for the editing?
Appreciate that! I film with a GoPro Hero 9 and edit with Adobe Premiere Pro 😁
What area is this lake located?
Did you need a permit or anything before you stayed overnight?
Yup, you need a permit to camp there!
Great video. When was the hike?
Thanks! I was out there last week.
@@PaulSantas I was up there in May and hiked until the snow got too deep. Appreciate your response
@@chili1593 Thanks for sharing the conditions in May, good to know for future reference!
@@PaulSantas the first clue was the gate to Mosquito Flats wasn’t open yet and you had to road hike up from the pack station. (: still a beautiful hike though
