Favorite spot in the eastern Sierras. Chicken foot lake has the best camp sites and an overnight stay at one of the cabins in the valley is good for adjusting to that 10 thousand foot elevation.
Eric ! Why did you choose Gem Lake ? and were there any fish up there.. I'm going up there next month. Thank you..which one is more secluded from other campers. 😊
Just my opinion, Gem Lake looked nicer to me. I saw people fishing but can't say if they caught. Maybe me jumping in scared them away 😅 several good spots all around the lake. Man.. enjoy your trip! It's breathtaking!
@Edwardcruzz13 Hey Edward! I was fortunate to not get it, but my wife did. Lol. She didn't enjoy as much as I did. 😅 that does kill the trip tho. Sorry to hear. Try spending a night prior at a nearby campground at lower elevation to acclimate. It might help 👍🏼
We did that trek a long time ago when we were much younger. It was a really nice trek.
It's an amazing trail! It's due time for you to go back! 😁
yeeeee HEEEEEEEEESSSS BACKKKKKKKKKKKKKK.... nice views! TAKE ME!
Lol yesirr! Back at it my brother! 😂 let's goo man!
We hiked to Gem Lake last week. It’s otherworldly and looks similar to something out of the Tetons.
@MarlonAndGabriela right?!? Beautiful place for sure. I need another trip out there soon lol. Tetons def an amazing place 🙌🏼

Any idea how cold the lake is? We did a polar plunge and it was refreshing but freezing!!
@MarlonAndGabriela LOL. I couldn't tell ya. But there were snowpacks around so I'm guessing maybe 35-40 degrees?? 😅
Do I need to worry about getting a wilderness permit?
@m.s.4768 Yep. You gotta reserve it through recreation.gov. Look for Inyo national wilderness permits. Good luck!
Was the water cold at Gem Lake?
Bro.. it was pretty cold. Felt that rush tho 😁
@@imerichoang I went on Saturday. Definitely the coldest I’ve jumped into. It was beautiful there but crowded on the trail
@ExploreLiveCreateShare nice man! Dang.. late in the season and still crowded huh? That's too bad.
