He and other autistic people I know are very smart and talented, which I'll bet you are too, you just haven't discovered it yet! I believe once you discover who you really are (not dumb, or weird or whatever other label people try to put in you), you'll begin to blossom! True, I had mine : Julie Dachez, a french autistic woman who indirectly helped me thanks to her book relating her story (I'm french too). I had the chance to meet her in february and she signed my book.
And last Friday, I became that person for someone. It's kind of funny because all I did was to fall of my knees because my legs couldn't support me (I was tired because I came back to work after three weeks of vacations) and I explained that to the colleague who helped me to stand up (he was giving informations to a woman who asked how to be diagnosed and I fell in front of the open door). The autism community acting ableist towards they own is crazy to me. I’ve personally met an autistic just like him. We are all different. I myself am autistic and so are my 4 kids and we are all so different . In tried of everyone saying he did bad acting as an autistic person but we need to remember it’s a spectrum and not 2 autistics are the same. I understand we want more autistic people to play the roles but we are actually. It’s ok it a typical person does as well because he showing a different type of person with autism. If you want an autistic actor watch heart break high. There is an actual autistic female playing herself as autistic. And it’s funny people didn’t know she is actually autistic in real life and talked about her bad representation of autism when they didn’t even know she is actually autistic . Mistakes are a part of life. Its how we learn. We fall and we get back up again. We are pushed to the ground and we get back up again. We get lost and we find our way again. People look down on us because we are different and don't conform to "normal", but we are still people. Be it Autism, ADHD, OCD, or just different. I make a lot of mistakes, but I live, I learn, I adapt, I keep going even when others would give up.

      What is a normal person?
I am not autistic, so I can not relate to your challenges. I am bipolar and I am facing my second fight with cancer. I also have agoraphobia and severe migraines, I am on oxygen and have depression.
So I can understand what being different is and facing challenges. I still remind myself that no two people are alike and that we all face challenges. Some are more obvious, like ours, some you can't see. But there is no normal when everyone is different from each other.

God bless you and your parents that cannot be easy. From what I have seen online from other parents that have autistic children I know for a fact that I could not handle that. It is so admirable parents and siblings that can deal with it. You guys are honestly great. I know that I could not handle the violence and I'm talking about somebody that would be severely autistic. That is something I would not be able to deal with. And I think we should all know our limits because that's how people get abused a lot. People try to do more than they're capable of doing out of obligation or the fear that they're going to be judged. My biggest fear would be having a child and being abusive to that child when it is not their fault! I would much rather have somebody care for the child that could give it the home and all the medical stuff that they deserve! I believe in a lot of ways that people with down syndrome and a lot of autistic children are honestly blessed by God because they can see angels and things that we cannot see. They also are truly innocent because they never do anything out of maliciousness. Their brain just works in a different way.

My personal understanding of how my autism affected my development is that I learnt how to do things by observing them and trying to recreate the results.
I have abnormal walking patterns, but I still walk with the same efficiency as others.
I pronounce and spell words inconsistently between UK and US english, but I still talk the same as others.
These examples could go on for most passive activities that don’t require focus after learning. I believe this process of development is why autistic children tend to walk before neurotypical children and typically excel in subjects that they observe for long periods of time.

Hysterical strength is a thing, when the brain identifies a life and death situation it can temporarily override biological safeguards that keep us from tearing our muscles apart and shattering our own bones. A real world example of this was 63 year old Laura Schultz in 1977, her grandson had been pinned under a car, in desperation she lifted said vehicle off of him with one hand and simultaneously dragged him out from underneath it.
The threshold is different for everyone, autism can make those thresholds so completely different it seems psychotic to others.

It happens when people are scared . I'm a psych nurse and see it occasionally - 100 lb patients picking up 50 lb chairs. The public needs more education about autism.

You'd be surprised what the human body can do in flight mode. My son was 6 years old 60lbs soaking wet, and it took 6 adult police officers to hold him on a stretcher, during a bad meltdown.

“i make a lot of mistakes” is exactly what you want to hear your doctor saying
edit: yes i get it he was just trying to comfort him, this comment is very obviously a joke

Doctors make mistakes all the time. All of them do, it's human nature. No doctor is perfect. I'd much rather have one that admits and acknowledges that, than one that pretends they're flawless.

So so true! And that goes for non autistic patients as well! When my Mother was 90 yrs old she had a pacemaker inserted to help her heart. Following the operation she was sent to rehab for a couple of weeks!
After the 4th day they threatened to discharge her if she didn’t “cooperate“ and exercise when told! The 6th day they carried out their threat and discharged her, forcing her to leave rehab. They treated her as is she was simply acting like a Diva!
The next day she collapse @ home, I called 911, an ambulance rushed her to the hospital where we learned the wire had fallen out of her pacemaker AND THAT’S WHY she was always extremely tired in the rehab and unable to exercise!
If they had only taken Mom seriously, listened to her complaints about having no strength & explored possibilities they could have avoided all the stress and chaos they caused everyone
