In all these medical shows, this one and House MD, everyone keeps doubting the genius doctor over and over. In real life, after 3-4 insane genius ideas that work from someone, people start trusting the person and stop saying No constantly.
House needed the push back though. He routinely used a white board.
these are both off the charts of reality so no point in comparing the two, none of this actually happens. This is all a very exaggerated form of every activity that takes place in the practice.
As mentioned by other commenters, the shows aren’t very realistic at all.
But ignoring this, House AND Murphy both need this pushback, otherwise they will start thinking they are immortal, that they can do no wrong. More so in House’s case, since he doesn’t have nearly the same restraint as Murphy. And also in House MD, he’s frequently wrong, but that’s sort of the premise of the show, strange cases, even house gets it wrong, blah blah.
Murphy is a strange one: I haven’t seen the full show, but I can’t see Murphy not making a mistake at least once.
Plus, as with all sciences, medical science is ALWAYS peer reviewed: people look at each other’s work, question it, and learn from it. Scientists will NEVER blindly trust someone else, because it breaks the fundamental principles of science.
It’s also important to remember that both those doctors will have made mistakes when learning: if they made mistakes when they were younger, the chances they make more mistakes will be lower as they get more experienced, but they will never be zero. The doubting from others helps reduce the chance further by forcing the doctors to PROVE they’re right, rather than act on impulse or instinct, no matter how godly those instincts may seem.

This is quite a bit different than what actual surgery is like. Yes the words they’re using are a thing but the way they think about the cases and the decisions they make are way off from what would actually happen.

What is really cool is visualizing the motions of something, like a suspension.
When I drive flatbed trucks, I had to visualize stress points for some things.
Put a tie-down in the wrong place, and you could break something.
I can also do this! I work with repairing computers, phones, etc, and during repairs or diagnostics I have to trace everything throughout devices to make issues make some kinda sense for myself, other technicians and the customer. Tbh I have a few doctors and nurses in my family and I definitely thought about following those footsteps

really I love the character of Dr Shaun Murphy, my younger brother was a doctor, he died in an accident in 2008, it's so connected to me. The actor who acted as Shaun Murphy is very much appreciable as observed the autism behaviours very correctly.
How we treat people with problems is very sad, but these are the same people who we need because they are smart beyond anything that we can comprehend.

WELLLL...sounds like no solution would have been absolutely perfect in that situation....but as someone who lost a beloved relative due to a surgeon's decision to " just close her up and we'll maybe try again some other time", knowing full well that THIS surgery was already her very last chance...at least somebody was trying to actually save the patient. Btw...it wasn't a matter of falling vital signs. The surgeon was anxious to attend a fundraiser that a popular local politician was hosting. And my relative was an Appalachian lady in her sixties, educated but poor. So she just wasn't all that important. Well, he made it to his party. And he got his picture in the paper with the politician. And his tux did look great. So I guess it worked out well for somebody.
But my relative had been a registered nurse and she had many, MANY friends in the profession. And the nurses talked about what went on with her case... otherwise, we would never have known.

This is simply a case of everyone becoming dependent on one individual's little quirks. The doctors have become so used to having Murphy around to help that they've become accessories to him. And we all know that accessories are useless without the main component.

In this part of the video I remember years ago when my ex wife went into a coma and Em's rushed to the house and they gave her pure oxygen with a mask and a nurse was there 24/7,and they gave her a IV,of vitamins and fluids and she never woke up and the nurse monitored her heart beat.

I love this show but they have really screwed up. Cancelling the show on Season 7 and not giving us the full amount of episodes. I know the writers strike caused chaos but why aren't they doing what the Blue Bloods producers. are, full season with some episodes now and the rest to come in the fall. Thats what fans of the Good Doctor, Young Sheldon and Station 19 deserve. I won't be watching their final seasons

I also habe autism and sturggle with people skills so i've expanded on my vocabulary to be more comprehensive. Ironically i went from confusing to complicated on a complex standpoint as if i went from tje foot of the mountain to a certain height close to the peak while everyone else is somewhere in the middle. Moral of the story it doesnt matter how far one climbs in progression, unless you meet people where they are youre always gonna stick out indirectly encouraging tribalism. If you ask me comformity needs to be selective in what to distinguish what should be the norm and what should be left to subjective individual preference of taste.
