Before removing the USB drive from the glovebox, I read that it's recommended to press and hold the dashcam icon on the screen until it turns grey. Similar to how USB devices require ejecting on Windows/MacOS to lower the risk of data corruption. Thanks for the demonstration of the Perception software.
This looks good. No point having footage if we can't access it properly. Needs an Android version, I'd prefer to buy something outright than subscribe to another service. 😊
My free trial has come to its end, so I have now brought the life time user for the app, it has been easy to use bringing the events on the cameras into a single user interface, well done on your development of this app as it dose what it says on the tin. ✅

9 times out of 10 sentry mode shows me walking back up to the car. I tend to take a look round the car(if it is a situation where it could have been ‘dinged’ and If nothing obvious then ignore sentry mode
Great app however as mentioned, the pricing needs to be clearly shown. I’m a bit reluctant to buy anything unless I see the pricing first. Maybe think about a one off cost say £5 for the app after the 7 day trial. You may get more uptake if you do that. Looks good though.

An update went out early this morning that adds more transparency around the trial (no pre-commitment required, you’ve got 7 days to try it out and if you don’t like it, you can delete the app without issue); adds additional information to the App Store description (the pricing is already shown under ‘In-App Purchases’ on the store page, but I’ve added some additional pointers to the description as well); alongside a few other improvements. Re: a one-off purchase, Perception can be purchased either via a monthly/yearly subscription, or outright. For best value right now, I'd recommend the yearly plan (as it's discounted by 25% until August 31st) *but* immediately disabling auto-renew so you're not charged. For comparison, the outright purchase is the equivalent of supporting Perception for around 2.5 years on the yearly plan. There'll be another update coming this weekend to add some further improvements, so I'm excited to hear if you have any further feedback! Looks like a good app. Shame it cant be viewed live somehow. So dont have to faff with taking usb drive out and then forgetting to put it back. WOuld orefer to ourchase outright tnan monthly

Forgot to mention earlier as well, there is no need to commit to any payment or sign-up to use Perception - there’s a 7 day trial and only after you’ve been able to use it and determine if it’s helpful you’ll be prompted to pay. I really dislike apps that require that pre-commitment in order to use a trial, so I’ve taken this approach instead. Of course, open to feedback on this approach 😄
Hey! Sorry to hear you had issues with Perception. You will need to use an adaptor with both a USB 3.0 connector & a lightning connector. Plug the USB drive into the adaptor along with a lightning cable connected to a power source. This will provide the power needed to allow the phone to use the USB drive. Hope that helps!
@@ryanb281 what adapter? What I have allows the USB drive to plug right into it and then that plugs right into the lightning port on my iPhone. But again, it just says that the USB drive needs power, so for whatever reason it's not getting it through the adapter I have from the iPhone.
@@Resist4If your adaptor only has an input for the USB drive, and not for another lightning cable too, the phone will not be able to power the USB drive. The one I tested Perception with during development was the "Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter" from Apple, so I'd recommend trying that. Please feel free to reach out via the 'submit a bug report' option in Perception so I can help directly + send over an access code for Premium - as likely by the time a new adaptor arrives the trial would have expired!

I've tried with a few different external drives and others have been able to connect as well, my initial thoughts are: - If you're using an iPhone, you may need to use an adaptor that accepts additional power. The Apple Lightning to USB 3 adaptor for example requires you to plug a lightning cable into it to provide additional power. This is a limitation of the phone not providing enough power to the drive - an iPad Pro via USB C for example can provide enough power for external drives. - The drive may be incompatible with iOS based off of formatting / some other criteria. I'd be happy to discuss this with you if this is the case, in case I can put in place some additional workaround to add support - Device restrictions prohibiting connecting external storage So sorry again you've had issues, I'd be more than happy to help you get it working. So this app didn’t work on my iPhone 13, the app couldn’t even detect that there’s was an external drive plugged in.
