So many years after his passing I still come back to this. What a lovely tribute to an amazing man. What a life he lived to affect people so greatly. Rest in peace gordie
You, too? I don't think I have been as affected by someone's death as I have been by our beautiful Gord. Actually, Prince's death really got me, but Gord....well, Gord.
@@annietikivik246 I cry everyday, because I miss him so much. I have to try not to think about him somedays, but I have tributes to him in my house all over.
Casey from The Dear Hunter. Dallas has the voice of an angel but has become overrated this past decade. Casey's got one of my favourite voices with a lot of range, he's also a way better musician & songwriter than Dallas. & I've seen Dallas & Alexis over 15 times here in Toronto. I even have an Alexis tattoo, but yeah, The Dear Hunter blows him away. No question. Incredibly underrated. I'd recommend The Dear Hunters Audiotree Live session & the Color Spectrum live DVD on RUclips. They've only gotten better with age
He's someone that told us ... His last performance with the Hip, he told us... Gord KNEW ...he was the guy that told people about the places that produced those 215 graves. It's the Canada he knew we could find. It's the Canada he SAW before he left this world. I wanna be there that day when we see it. When we get there.
One of the few true Beautiful Human Beings. God must be so proud. He made me proud to be a Canadian. You will live on in our hearts "He Who Walks Amongst the Stars."
Frederick Street and King St., Kitchener Ontario used were playing three nights at the centre in the Square. We met you treated me like a gentleman. I’ll never forget it.
I think I held my breath for the entirety of _Bobcaygeon_ so as not to miss a single note. That was one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. What a perfect tribute.
Dallas really sung Bobcaygeon incredibly beautifully - with a poignant reverence and loving admiration for Gord. Bobcaygeon has always been one of my many many favorite songs by the Hip. RIP Gord
The very first time listening to the tragically hip in the early 90s, I actually thought they were a American group. I thought what a unique and amazing band, I found out later they were a Canadian band, not that it has anything to do with their music, but I became a hip fan, and still am, I'm an ojicree native, and the hip had fans everywhere I'm sure, their music most definitely had a universal language that spoke to many.
My friend and I met Gord at a Waterkeepers fundraiser. Despite his monumental impact on the Canadian psyche and identity, it was my 30 min interaction with him that left me with a sense of peace and awe because he was so attentive and kind and wanted to know so much about us. He is what we should all aspire to be. RIP Gord.
There are 10 people with thumbs down ! I don't know what is going on in there lives but I hope some day they can feel the beauty and love this man has for his Family , his art , his band mates and his country ! Life is Beautiful and this man let me see this through his eyes and I thank him for this . Thanks Gord
read the comments ... i think it has more to with this Dallas dude feud of fans and not fans of some sort ... snot noses bringing there lil sisters backyard talent comment to Gords tribute trying to act all fckn a propo on music ... idiots and hosers
Gord Downie carried a passion and conviction in his lyrics and performances that very few artists could ever match. He inspired millions through his poetry and purpose, and I feel blessed to have been able to enjoy him for the last 3 decades. RIP Gord.
When I was 16, I left my home in Canada to go live in another country. It was Gord and the music of The Hip that helped me find my way back home. I'll never forget.
I have watched this so many times, I can't count. My love for Gord Downie and The Tragically Hip is beyond the words I can ever express. But I just need to say, that this Remembrance of HIM, makes me so happy and I love it so much. So, I am thankful for all of you, for your tribute to Mr Gord Downie
Life is so unfair.. beautiful video compilation of a gorgeous man gone too soon ❤️ 15 years fan of Dallas from the UK, didn’t know who Gord was before he was on Sleeping Sickness, then last year I found this Bobcaygen cover and then learnt of Gords passing and really started listening to the Hips’s music.. so sorry for Canada he seems like a absolute legend xxx ❤️
"Listening to Gord is making me cry. You're leaving me high in Canada Dry...". Thanks BNL for paying homage to this great soul. See you in heaven, God willing.
I'm 1:38 in and I'm already crying like a little school girl. I lost my best friend the same day that I lost my favourite musician October 17th 2017 will forever be the worst day I've spent on earth, and heavens greatest day.
My "introduction" to Canada - Ontario and driving into Kingston down the "Hip" way.... listening to Wheat Kings.... on my way to Gananoque ... I wanted to stay forever and listen to Gord
Sweet person that me and my husband were lucky to meet in Chicago in the 90s when my husband won a writing contest to go back stage. I love your music even more today
Peter Garrett from Midnight Oil in there...Midnight Oil toured Canada once upon a time, and the Hip supported them. Gord always said that their two bands were doing the same work in different corners of the world.
Beautiful he would be so proud and thankful and grateful and happy to be Canadian and to see how we all loved him and his amazing talent and heart ♥ fly high with the Angeles
I was able to watch anything about Gord because it was too difficult. It still is but I’m doing it anyway. He was a true human, Canadian, and artist. Man who walks among the stars I pray your legacy lives on and your dream of reconciliation becomes reality. Thank you from a First Nations woman.
Yes. Please. Thank you. Have to mention, my dear Little Beef and rest of crew up yonder that I acknowledge how awesome one of your favorite canuk artists is- every time I listen to him or his stuff. Glad you turned me on years ago. Gives me something of the wonder, bliss, inconceivable comfort and warmth Michael Houser brings when I listen to his stuff. Each time I delve into The Hip I'm more fascinated by his music, his life; and how and why I adore Canadians so much.
Still not over the loss. Can’t imagine I ever will be over it. He wrote the lyrics to my Canadian life. He raised awareness for Indigenous injustice with such grace. What would he have said today about BLM? I have a guess however I wish I could hear it from him.
Girlfriend new to Canada heard the song Bobcaygeon Never knowing the words she bobbed her head And said whats the song about ? ..I was all about telling her The hip is about Canada its a fibre i can't explain.........That weekend i took her to Bobcaygeon Layed on a picnic table drinking beers as the night sky fell in the background went to the car and played Bobcaygeon...She said...I get it ....wow
I need to find a recorded version of Dallas singing Bobcaygeon!!
Fuck that guy can sing like the fucking wind!!!
I wish City and Colour would release one! Saw him sing Bobcaygeon live in 2016 and have wanted it ever since.
Almost 2023 and we’re still here Gord 💕
2024, and still here!
Gord Downie was too good for this world. That's the only way I can make sense of losing him.
