Wow that pretty much looks like a genuine Seiko Turtle. It hacks, handwinds, the bezel sounds tiny, the chapter ring is misaligned. That's pretty much the same stuff you get from the original factory!
I own a real one and I bought the Wish one as well. I’ve done my fair share of modding Seiko’s. I can tell you that after I stripped down the Wish version, you will find it doesn’t have the fat Seiko spring bars for starters. The drilled holes in the lugs will not accommodate fat Seiko bars either. I tried. One huge tell tale it’s fake is the click-spring underneath the bezel. When you pop the bezel off of a real bezel, you’ll see it’s a circular ring with raised pieces of metal that fit into the underside of the bezel. The Wish version’s bezel is literally impossible to remove because they have some interwoven wire squeezing the bezel down to the case. Not caring for marring the Wish version, I managed to remove the bezel insert and that’s how I was able to see the underside of the bezel and saw the bogus click-spring. Now! I thought it would be fun to see if I could swap my bezel inserts between the real and the fake. The fake will fit into the original bezel however it is too slim and sinks too low into it, leaving a raised edge. If you put the real bezel insert into the fake version, the insert stands too tall. Yes, the font is wrong, the stated movements (on the dial and the internal rotor contradict themselves) and everything else wrong mentioned in the video. It is a damn fine fake and can fool even the best Seiko fans until looked at VERY closely (which if someone is studying your watch THAT close while on your wrist, they may have a problem lol). Bottom line, Seiko’s are great and that Wish version looks great. But for me, I can’t wear a fake because I know it’s a fake. Like someone wearing a fake Rolex. But worse because good Seiko’s are still considered only entry level watches. So why not just get a real one?
Tom, do you know if the case and bezel are actually stainless steel and if you can install an actual Seiko bezel spring and bezel on the fake? I'm curious about the interchangeability and if the fakes would be a good base for a mod.
The model you have with the red minute hand is SRP789 and does actually come with a metal bracelet while the 779 has a regular white hand and rubber strap.
I’ve purchased 2 turtles from Wish. The first one I bought, a $50 Nemo Orange is a complete pile of junk. Listing said it was automatic.... it’s quartz. It’s smaller than a gen in every direction but just barely. It’s rough, band is complete garbage, clasp is small, Logo on the band and caseback is laser etched and uses the wrong font, bezel is wonky. Etc etc... The second just arrived yesterday. A $55 black/silver/gold SRP775J1 is beautiful. Similar quality to yours but the bezel is 120 clicks of perfection. The band and clasp looks similar to yours and I can assure you it’s just as nice (or crappy) as the genuine. My chapter ring isn’t crooked which is common on the genuine. The steel they used is high quality and has the titanium-like appearance just like the genuine. The case back is perfect. The only tell tale signs it’s a replica are: #1 the lume Pip isn’t recessed like the genuine. Every single Seiko on wish gets this wrong. #2 only the first few links are drilled on either side of the clasp. Every link is drilled on the genuine. #3 the shiny flat edge of the crown’s diameter is wrong. It’s smaller on the genuine. #4 the bezel has a line that runs around the outside edge exactly in the middle. The genuine’s line is closer for the top.
Saw another vid, the weight inside the movement has a small piece of metal glued to the weight that makes it look like a genuine seiko movement. On the real seiko weight the word Japan does not appear. Mind you, behind the metal glued to the drum revealed an acutal seiko nh36 movement but not the 4A. On the closeup you provide I think you can see that the weight looks like it has a raised edge, hence the little metal thing they glued to the weight of the movement.
If this is a copy, its a seiko srp789k1 copy. The movement looks genuine, the case looks genuine, the bezel looks genuine but the dial does not. It says nh35, and it should say 4r36 on it. Original Turtles have misaligned chapter rings. I sell seikos as an authorized deeler and it looks very genuine to mee, it looks just used, its possibly an used seiko with a new dial and a scrap movement. The srp789k1 in this video looks like one from 2016 for many reasons to write here now. And this seiko goes for 260-300 dollars, not 400.
@@ericsmith1878 Most of the time when you buy a fake seiko the case is original but used, thats the problem. I once got a seiko for service from a customer, it was fake, the case was corroded from the inside and all beat up. But it was only 2 months old. They destroy the seals and the screw of the caseback. I dont know how. Maybe just buy a cheaper seiko, a lot to choose from.
@Haxomen The clasp for the bracelet looks very different from what i've been able to see online. there is a shroud or a little part that extrudes before the bracelet starts on the 'clasp guard' side. please shed some light on this.
@@shineegtspc Yes the clasp is not original because it doesnt have the divers extension that you are seeing on the online pictures. But the links, endlinks and clasp are looking original, only the diver extension is not there.
Do you know if any or most of the cases that they claim are stainless steel are actually that or is it a mix of stainless and cheaper steel, perhaps chromed steel?
The movement really is an NH36A, they just put a razor thin 4R36 cover on the rotor wheel, you can peel It off. Sounds mad but these NH36 equipped fakes are much better value than a real one, but If I'm buying a turtle I'd get a Steeldive from Aliexpress.
Besides the movement everything looks genuine. Crappy bezel that sounds like a toy, missaligments everywhere and stamped clasp is normal thing to every genuine seiko out there.
Seikos usually always have alignment issues, thanks for this information though, very useful, also usually the Saturday text in the day window is blue, another good way to tell.
The 4R36 is the Seiko branded movement. The NH36 is the non-Seiko branded movement. Usually will state TMI "Time Module Inc" on the NHXX movements. I wouldn't be surprised if there are now Chinese clones of the NH35/36 movements.
the most obvious clue is that on the dial it says "NH36" which is a movement Seiko sells as a stand alone to anyone who wants to build a watch. IF you look in the back, it says 4R36. That right way shows the inconsistency. Real Turtles show "4R36" on the their dials. The other most common clue is on the inside of the bracelet, the very first part of it connecting to the case, should have engraved "631". On this fake, as shown, there are no markings. As far as the rotor is concerned, you will find that it's a thin piece of aluminum that has been glued on the original NH36. These people are very clever! lol

You can see the glowing material is over the dial on that spot on the fake one. 2. The original has much more text under 6 o'clock, the fake one it has a brief Japan.... text. 3. The original strap has a diving extension area, wich the fake doesn't. Regards.

I was just on the wish app and saw this watch for 57.00.They Retail for like 400.i didn’t know they fake Seikos.Seiko is notorious for horrible QC(ESP the Chapter Rings) so that’s kinda normal.BTW Love the Parnis.I have a Parnis (Stowa) Clone and a Panerai Clone.Owned both over 2 years and they work perfect.I was looking to get the Batman GMT too.Ive mentioned these watches on other RUclips channels and it brings out the Watch Snobs🤣🤣🤣.IDC,I’d rather spend 75.00 on a Parnis Flieger that 99% of ppl couldn’t tell the difference between that and a 1200.00 Stowa.The dials are both sterile.Great Video👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I bet there is a thin metal piece stuck to the balance wheel it you pry it off it will say nh36 instead of 4a36 same movement but nh36 is the sold sperate version, crazy how close it is.
I have one. I was curious also. The back and face have two different movements listed, and surprise, it has neither one. Mine had some no-name, cheap/fake guts inside. Was not an NH36 movement and doubt one would fit. It keeps poor time. All over the map. Poor lume.
I have a fake Seiko I bought on wish. You can only change the date forward. You can't make it go back a date, and it came a date ahead. Had to go through a whole month to change it. I like it very much though. It looks good on my wrist

bruno ferreira In one of my other videos I bought an aftermarket bezel to modify my fake skx and in the video I said the bezel didn’t fit. I assumed it was because the case was also fake. I just tried to put that same bezel on a real skx case and it didn’t fit either! So I’m thinking I just got a bad bezel. It might be compatible, and I’m waiting on another bezel from another manufacturer so we shall see!

NH36 is the name Seiko give to their 4R36 when they sell it for third party brand use (with its sibling NH35/4R35, it’s often used in homages from San Martin, Heimdallr, Steeldive and the like). The movement could well be a real Seiko NH36, but the original turtle bears the designation 4R36 on the caseback instead, so overall it’s a fake, but very possibly with genuine Seiko insides. I suspect they seek to justify their use of the Seiko brand by their use of genuine Seiko movements. If nothing else, it’s not too bad a price for an NH36 movement alone, if you need a spare!
See this one actually looks solid and has a automatic movement but I bought one off Wish.com and it said in the description and stock images it was a "Automatic" upon receiving it light like one of them fake $15 Rollies and dial said automatic but was a ticking quartz movement. Great review.
Could it be possible that they are the real thing, but they did not pass the QC instead of throwing them away they get boxed and sold to a third party who sells them on wish?
That would be awesome....but no,this watch cames with the original 4r36 movement,and if you want to replace something on it the oen parts dont fit,for example the bezel dont have the same spring than the original and its flimsy,i assume that it dont have iso 200meters too.. ...for all and all its cheap nice replica with a good movement

Weird. The dial is branded with Seiko and the Prospex logo but uses the NH36 name which is not the name Seiko uses for this movement (Seiko uses the reference 4R36 for this movement). None of this makes any sense.
This model comes with a steel bracelet, may be with a rubber strap too. My turtle , bougt from a official dealer , was on a steel bracelet.The shown fakeseiko do have very thin spring bars, the original does have the fat ones. What kind of people are buying fake seikos? There must be a lot of the them out there, otherwise scamers would not fake seikos.
I was gonna build an skx and was thinking of using one of these as the base. If I'm replacing the bezel, crown, dial, hands, crystal and strap anyway I don't wanna drop $300 on the base watch.
I bought the same and i ordered padi versión. I bought cocktail time in White but second hand is not blue . Blue cocktail un wish has White date window but movement in wish fake watche are very fine ones. Turtle bezel works a lot of play. I hace lots of original seikos and this ones are funny.
I got me one of the wish for $57 and i am shure it is fake everything lines up nicely. On my arnie not a single thing lines up that is how i know it's original😉.
There are dozens of these on eBay, look for the dial text, it has NH35/36 on it. I've reported dozens of them to eBay and they do nothing. They should have a 4R36.

NH is the movement Seiko makes for third parties, precisely the same as a 4R just unbranded. I have two legit turtles they both say 4R36. If anybody has any doubts about legitimacy of a Turtle on eBay ask the seller for a dial close up, doesn't mean it's real but all the fakes I've seen have the wrong dial text.

@casiotechI Yeah, I've had four turtles now and all original but the bezel insert is always an easy tell as well. Same with SKX. Might not means it's a fake as such, just not original.
Seiko parts are made in China unless it's very high end ,watch movement are assembled in Malaysia ,it's very easy to clone a Seiko and so are the Swiss made watches too , almost 40 percent of their parts are made 8n china
More than 40% is made in china for most Swiss under $3000..many are entirely made of China parts (Crystal, dial,case, bracelet, hand) besides movement but technically counts as Swiss as long as value added ends up 40% which included r&d, prototyping, and final.assembly and inspection..very rare to fiind 100%Swiss under 10k and even those are entirely machine made with min..hand finish .
Can you do a water/swimming test on the fake one and see how does it stand? I would rather torture a fake one to water activities than the original one lol. So, can you test that and tell?
Who makes a copy of a watch that costs £350 new and boxed by using parts that cost £150 minimum. Surely not worth yhe effort. Making a personal mod yeh but a copy for profit I doubt. I've got a nemo that I paid £250 last week but it's got the 3 colour hands Japan movement non Ltd back and what looks like a copy dial. Oh and a white box not the black orange one. Even the stamped back cost over £100 and thats not Ltd edition. These are just mods not copies
Something like this would only be worth it if they have a very cheap but high quantity wholesale deal on the cases, movements, and other parts. It's easy to get all of these wholesale in large numbers yourself actually, and if you could find some REALLY cheap labor to slap it all together (which I suspect they do in China) then you could make some money. Especially something that's sought after like some of these Seikos. Apparently worth it to someone- not me for sure haha
I actually dont have a problem with it. Its not a high end rolex or anything its a Seiko. The movement looks good. I think only an idiot would think he can get a 400 watch on a wholesale chinese app for 70 dollars...from China. I bought one but I don't expect it to last more than 2 or so years. Ill get something different or maybe a real one at that time if my pocket decides to play nice.

could it be possible that these are actually real seiko's that did not get passing grades during QC? i just can't make sense of any fake watch making enterprise buying a genuine movement and sticking them into fake cases.. it jut doesn't add up to good cents....

TPD Gaming I love replicas. I can actually wear them and not spend the day worried about scratching up or losing them. I really wish someone would make a 1:1 Grand Seiko. Wish is packed with 100s of knock off Seikos . Half are junk. The other half are really well done. There is 1 Grand Seiko on Wish. The logo is really well executed but the rest of the watch is rubbish.

No such thing as a Fake SEIKO. What you have here is a Good SEIKO Mod.. Bro, if you strip that watch and sell the Parts you would make enough to buy a USED OEM TURTLE. Case Back -$50. Case with Chapter Ring and Crystal - $100 NH35 Movement with Crown easily $45 Hands - $45 Bezel (minus the crappy insert) $45 Bro, that's easily 295. Ebay Turtles sell for $240-300 used. I once had a broken LEATHERMAN CHARGE and I stripped it down and sold individual parts for Mods and goodness I made enough to buy a new LEATHERMAN and still had like $20 bx left. Bro, Strip the damn thing and sell the parts individually. Go on Ebay and study the SEIKO TURTLE PARTS they sell like HOT CAKES. With Exception of the movement don't use the word SEIKO. Say some like, "Watch Case for Turtle" or Compatible with SEIKO SRP watches. Thanks for the Video and honestly I might even get me one as SEIKO prices are too high.
I would had been happy with that. I bought the same one from Wish but it came with quartz movement even though it said on the listing that it comes with 4r36 . Dodgy bastards!
First one I ordered was also quartz despite the ad stating "automatic". I was refunded on that one. And actually, it keeps good time. I use it on a Nato strap to knock around at work in.

I purchased one recently. The Padi. For a Copy watch it looks good. not sure I'll keep it though. BRRRR!

I have a fake Seiko I bought on wish. You can only change the date forward. You can't make it go back a date, and it came a date ahead. Had to go through a whole month to change it. I like it very much though. It looks good on my wrist
That's normal. I don't know any watch movement that allows you to change the date or day backwards.
At least you have an Automatic movement. The moment I took it out the box I noticed the watch ticking. So I'm anticipating it's Battery operated.

In one of my other videos I bought an aftermarket bezel to modify my fake skx and in the video I said the bezel didn’t fit. I assumed it was because the case was also fake.
I just tried to put that same bezel on a real skx case and it didn’t fit either! So I’m thinking I just got a bad bezel. It might be compatible, and I’m waiting on another bezel from another manufacturer so we shall see!

I picked up one of these from a sale with bad images. It has the exact same serial number as your watch also.
NH36 is the name Seiko give to their 4R36 when they sell it for third party brand use (with its sibling NH35/4R35, it’s often used in homages from San Martin, Heimdallr, Steeldive and the like). The movement could well be a real Seiko NH36, but the original turtle bears the designation 4R36 on the caseback instead, so overall it’s a fake, but very possibly with genuine Seiko insides. I suspect they seek to justify their use of the Seiko brand by their use of genuine Seiko movements. If nothing else, it’s not too bad a price for an NH36 movement alone, if you need a spare!

See this one actually looks solid and has a automatic movement but I bought one off Wish.com and it said in the description and stock images it was a "Automatic" upon receiving it light like one of them fake $15 Rollies and dial said automatic but was a ticking quartz movement. Great review.

That would be awesome....but no,this watch cames with the original 4r36 movement,and if you want to replace something on it the oen parts dont fit,for example the bezel dont have the same spring than the original and its flimsy,i assume that it dont have iso 200meters too.. ...for all and all its cheap nice replica with a good movement

Weird. The dial is branded with Seiko and the Prospex logo but uses the NH36 name which is not the name Seiko uses for this movement (Seiko uses the reference 4R36 for this movement). None of this makes any sense.
This model comes with a steel bracelet, may be with a rubber strap too. My turtle , bougt from a official dealer , was on a steel bracelet.The shown fakeseiko do have very thin spring bars, the original does have the fat ones. What kind of people are buying fake seikos? There must be a lot of the them out there, otherwise scamers would not fake seikos.

I was gonna build an skx and was thinking of using one of these as the base. If I'm replacing the bezel, crown, dial, hands, crystal and strap anyway I don't wanna drop $300 on the base watch.

I bought the same and i ordered padi versión. I bought cocktail time in White but second hand is not blue . Blue cocktail un wish has White date window but movement in wish fake watche are very fine ones. Turtle bezel works a lot of play. I hace lots of original seikos and this ones are funny.

There are dozens of these on eBay, look for the dial text, it has NH35/36 on it. I've reported dozens of them to eBay and they do nothing.

eBay is full of fakes that say NH. NH is the movement Seiko makes for third parties, precisely the same as a 4R just unbranded. I have two legit turtles they both say 4R36. If anybody has any doubts about legitimacy of a Turtle on eBay ask the seller for a dial close up, doesn't mean it's real but all the fakes I've seen have the wrong dial text.

Seiko parts are made in China unless it's very high end ,watch movement are assembled in Malaysia ,it's very easy to clone a Seiko and so are the Swiss made watches too , almost 40 percent of their parts are made 8n china
More than 40% is made in china for most Swiss under $3000..many are entirely made of China parts (Crystal, dial,case, bracelet, hand) besides movement but technically counts as Swiss as long as value added ends up 40% which included r&d, prototyping, and final.assembly and inspection..very rare to fiind 100%Swiss under 10k and even those are entirely machine made with min..hand finish

Who makes a copy of a watch that costs £350 new and boxed by using parts that cost £150 minimum. Surely not worth yhe effort. Making a personal mod yeh but a copy for profit I doubt. I've got a nemo that I paid £250 last week but it's got the 3 colour hands Japan movement non Ltd back and what looks like a copy dial. Oh and a white box not the black orange one. Even the stamped back cost over £100 and thats not Ltd edition. These are just mods not copies
Something like this would only be worth it if they have a very cheap but high quantity wholesale deal on the cases, movements, and other parts. It's easy to get all of these wholesale in large numbers yourself actually, and if you could find some REALLY cheap labor to slap it all together (which I suspect they do in China) then you could make some money. Especially something that's sought after like some of these Seikos. Apparently worth it to someone- not me for sure haha
I actually dont have a problem with it. Its not a high end rolex or anything its a Seiko. The movement looks good. I think only an idiot would think he can get a 400 watch on a wholesale chinese app for 70 dollars...from China. I bought one but I don't expect it to last more than 2 or so years. Ill get something different or maybe a real one at that time if my pocket decides to play nice.

could it be possible that these are actually real seiko's that did not get passing grades during QC? i just can't make sense of any fake watch making enterprise buying a genuine movement and sticking them into fake cases.. it jut doesn't add up to good cents....

The lume pip is the dead giveaway. Every fake Seiko has the same pip. Genuine Seikos have a Pip that’s recessed down into the bezel.

TPD Gaming I love replicas. I can actually wear them and not spend the day worried about scratching up or losing them. I really wish someone would make a 1:1 Grand Seiko. Wish is packed with 100s of knock off Seikos . Half are junk. The other half are really well done. There is 1 Grand Seiko on Wish. The logo is really well executed but the rest of the watch is rubbish.

gmaildotcom I did. The seller that sold it to me was gone. Wish was kind enough to refund me the money. Worked out well in the end.
First one I ordered was also quartz despite the ad stating "automatic". I was refunded on that one. And actually, it keeps good time. I use it on a Nato strap to knock around at work in.
Pretty sure your watch looks legit. Possibly a grey market or a factory reject or a frankenseiko.
